Straw man argument. The Jedi code isn’t followed because it’s the only way to be spiritual

 

Why is it followed then?

 

Because fear of loss is a path to the dark side.

 

Right. And the code is the way of a Jedi, not the only way to be spiritual. Nobody ever said that.

Separately, when did Lucas say that Jedi could go around sleeping with people but not having relationships with them? I missed that.

Probably should've just made them celibate.

 

I think it's fair that the Jedi can engage in sexual activity.
At the end of the day, there's always the danger of falling to the dark side if they broke the rules of attachment.
They should be trusted to be able to have their fun, without being attached to the other person.

It is of course a little more precarious than being celibate, but on the other hand.... we all know the results of monks and priests being celibate on this planet. And they're not great, to put it lightly.

I actually think that the Jedi Code is 99% correct. And the one thing that Luke should have changed (and did, in the Expanded Universe) is forbidding romantic relationships, marriage and procreation. Those attachments can be healthy and monitored as well. Anakin was a volatile person who wanted power and control outside of his love for Padme anyway. He would have fallen to the dark side even if it wasn't for Padme. That just accelerated things.

Ever since we got that deluge of announcements at the Investor's Day presentation, this has been my most anticipated project. This trailer does not change that fact.

So I've got until August to finish my TCW/Rebels/Mando rewatch.

And something tells me I'm going to make zero progress on it today...

Great trailer. Some interesting new characters, particularly the dark siders. I love that we will get a connection to the New Republic, which has been sorely lacking in all post ROTJ material.
However, the budget does look more Kenobi than Andor.

I liked Rebels, so I'm glad to see a continuation of it. Rosario Dawson is probably my favorite casting choice of the Disney era, and I think she had a great presence, almost Qui-Gon-like, in her past appearances. Anakin is what I'm really excited to see in this series, though.
