    so anyone else here play them? the 1st was interesting. I liked being able to play the Alien, Marine, and Predator. AVP2 was just amazing for me. it actually had a good plot and story to play along with. Predator is my favorite character to play with the next being the Marine with all the guns he has. i'm hoping for a AVP3 in the future[face_praying]

    Aliens vs. Predator 2 is freakin great. The multiplayer is still a lot of fun, when you can find a good server up. And the single player was great! And really freaky during the Marine campaign. Sadly I missed the original AVP, but I do have Aliens Trilogy for PS1!

    A rank the Marine missions in AVP2 as some of the scariest gaming moments I've ever had. Walking down a dark corridor with your motion detector going off every few seconds is geniunely frightening. I would definetly buy an AVP3 if it was made. As long as it wasn't based off of the movie that is.

    i've never played the multiplayer because i could never get it to work. now they should've used the story from the AVP2 game for the movie instead of the stuff Paul Anderson came up with

    For quite some time it was my favorite game. Actually, maybe I'll replay it this week or something. I just loooove the Predator. I always sucked as an Alien, but still managed to play that storyline, too. Kinda lame "boss" enemies, though. And I constantly got lost :p

    I put off playing as a Marine for a long time, because to me it was just another ego-shooter that way. When I played it, it really was one of the scariest games ever. Remember that level where this crane was moving in the wind? It set off the motion sensor all the time. That was cruel!

    It sure was awesome at creating tension :cool:

    I've only played AVP2, but I thought it was really good. I've seen the add on pack for it but haven't got it. I'm going to have to install it when I've got some HDD space, paly it all the way through again.

    I've played it multi player, I really sucked at it.

    I bought it like... 3 or 4 years ago. Only $6 brand new, with expansion, at Target. I can't imagine it would cost too much now.

    ...i bought the original AvP about a year after it came out, but sadly my computer was not powerful enough to run it.

    Fast-forward to about 2 years ago... I got hired at a new job working midnights, where quite often there was nothing to do BUT sit around and play games. For some reason, i managed to dig up AvP, installed it, and had quite a blast with it.

    I've been considering picking up AvP2 for YEARS, but it always seemed like it was priced slightly higher then what i felt was fair to pay. I figure now, it's just a matter of time before i spot it in a bargain bin at some computer store.

    When i do, i definitely plan on nabbing it.

    Yeah, it shouldn't be too expensive, finding it might be quite hard though. I'm getting a DVD burner next week, as soon as I get I'll shift some anime onto DVD and install AVP2.

    I always felt playing as the Alien was a little freaky.

    don't get high/stoned/drunk then play as the alien - leads to paranoid dislusions

    Bought AvP2 the other day. No multi-player CD key.

    AvP2 is one of the most awesome games for the PC ever.

    The storyline was great, and I still don't understand why they didn't use it for the AvP movie.

    Although I really enjoyed the single player, I LOVED the multiplayer.

    Mostly I played the mode where everyone starts as human, and then the first person to die becomes an alien. I think it was called Survivor. That alien is now "it" and must kill all the humans. Each time a human dies it becomes an alien too.

    It was really awesome and sort of recreates the idea of an "infestation". At first you just have one alien on your hands. Dangerous yes, but there are lots of you. Then, as time goes on, your friends start dissapearing, and more aliens come after you.

    The maps were pretty well designed for this too, so you and a group of survivors would hole up in a part of the map and try to defend it untill time ran out. Eventually all the aliens would go after you at once, and you just end up shooting everywhere hoping they don't get to you...

    It was so intense.

    Both are great games, AVP had the atmosphere of the movie while AVP had a great story but also felt like the movie since you actually had people with you. I have only been able to play as the marine in AVP2 since all of the other characters would freeze up my computer when playing it. Which I really dont mind because the Marine is my favorite to play. I thank god that they made the second one more like a Half-Life type of game, completely engulfed me into the story. Im also glad that they made it so face huggers start out in eggs before they will attack you, some of the most scary moments in my life were trying to kill the face huggers in the first AVP.

    This thread inspired me to replay it. I deinstalled it. Luckily I found the disc. Unfortunately... the first one is scratched beyond recognition :_|
    It won't start setup.exe. Dammit!

    I'll have to try and fit it cheap somewhere :(

    Shouldn't be too hard. You can get it for $10 - $15 in many game stores.

    AVP2 is still one of the best PC games IMO

    I loved play as the Alien and I actually did pretty well. My only complaint was having to use the W key to move

    I can't imagine using anything other than w, a, s and d for movement, everything I need is close enough to keep my left hand mostly still and my right hand free for just using the mouse to look and shoot.

    AFAIK, the controls can be change, I think I had to change a few things.

    I remember having this problem too and eventually gave up on the game. Is this a common problem and is there a fix?

    It's not one I had. Try finding a patch for it, the auto updater should get it to the latest/last version, if not then fileplanet should have it.

    I have my own key setup that I love way more than the typical "w" key setup that most games come with as a default.

    I use:
    e = forward
    d = backward
    s & F = strafe
    q = jump
    space = open/activate
    c = crouch
    v = prone (if available)

    I have other keys I use for various other things but it all depends on the game in question. I've used this setup for years and I like it because I feel like I have easier access to more keys than what the default setup provides.

    I got it to work! [face_dancing]

    Man, I love the Predator. Especially the plasma caster. Damn Xenomorphs are still scary as hell, but at least they die quickly. Only, I forgot how much I hate those cyborgs. No target lock, they spot you immediately, they have big guns... bah.

    Also, by today's standards the graphics are, ahem, very modest. But that doesn't bother me at all. It's just too fun. Ah, I love this game.

    AVP2 was an awesome game. I have to confess that I never made it through the Alien campaign, it was always too difficult for me.

    And Marine freaked me out to no end.
