Books Alphabet Squadron by Alexander Freed

Nice, I’ll check that out.

 

I really struggled through TC though, but loved his novelisation of R1, and found his writing style quite different. So I guess AS is the tiebreaker for me.

 

I liked Twilight Company for it's unique tone. The writing style really took me out of my life of comfort and shoved me into the harsh conditions the Alliance soldiers faced in warfare. I loved the characters of Namir, Chaylis and T'Bor. I especially loathed Prelate Verge and I loved the scene where he meets his doom as a result of his utter ineptitude. Rogue One was well done as well, especially the Supplemental Data pieces. I still love the memo exchange between Galen, Vodran and Krennic. Can't wait for Alphabet Squadron. I've already placed my preorder with Audbile. Hopefully it's better than Master & Apprentice.

I’m more hyped by this novel than I thought I’d be, and Hera’s a big part of that.

 

I wonder if at least one of the pilots will have been present at Hoth and Endor? More talk about those battles would be awesome!

We need at least one pilot from Tatooine.

 

U-wing pilot looks pretty bad arse.

 

He looks like Charles Vane in Black Sails.

Still this crew look like an interesting lot.

 

Our last character profile

I can already tell I'm going to love the characters on this book. They all seem pretty interesting and I can't wait to learn more about them and watch their relationships develop.

Hey... I like everything I'm seeing here! I'm way less of a fan of the old X-wing books than a lot of people around here, I'm sure, but I'm liking the TIE Fighter comics and these characters are pretty much nailing it. Plus Hera. Yep. I'm in.

That excerpt felt very much like the X-Wing books which brings back a lot of fun memories. I was hoping we'd get a book like this in canon and I think I'll love these characters.

 

If you’re in the UK and within reach of a Forbidden Planet store, I’d recommend getting down there.

Just picked up Alphabet Squadron for £10 (half price - £4 cheaper than Amazon and same price as Kindle), ahead of US publication date.

 

Would cost me more than £4 to get to FP in London unfortunately.
