Even though he made a conscious choice to give up his life, Anakin's first few days in the after-life were a bit of a struggle. Suddenly being incorporeal was bad enough, but there was such a lot to get used to, it was all a bit overwhelming . . . until he looked up to see a kindly face staring down at him.

?Um, Grandfather?? he asked tentatively, feeling rather than seeing the relationship.

?Well, well ? Anakin. I guess there's no point in asking what you're doing here??

?No,? said Anakin glumly. ?It would be a stupid question.?

The older Anakin laughed ? his voice surprisingly non-wheezy. ?Oh, it takes some getting used to. But as you can see there are plenty of friendly folk here ? maybe not the folk you'd choose to be with, but there are advantages.?

?Advantages?? the young Anakin's lip twisted in his trademark scowl.

His grandfather waved for him to follow. Curious, Anakin did as he was bid, and eventually found himself standing in front of a huge lens through which the vast panorama of the present and future could be seen.

After about an hour of watching things unfold, Anakin Snr took the somewhat unsettled boy's arm and led him away ? and, to Anakin's surprise, his grandfather began to sing . . .



Although it sounds quite cheesy
To say that life's not easy
I know you always miss it once you're dead
You sit here and you wonder
What's going on down-under
So maybe this will help you clear your head . . .

Always look on the bright side of death
(dee dum dee dum dee dum dee dum dedoo)
Always look on the light side of death
(Come on, boy, whistle- what's that? Me whistle? Are you kidding?)

Death is not so rotten
It's more a chance to blossom
And have a little fun along the way
I don't think you could deny
The Code can have its downside
All work, no play is dull, or so they say

So, always look on the bright side of death
(That's more like it ? what? No, I don't think I ever remember being able to whistle.)
Always look on the light side of death
(Something to do with jaw shape I think ? that's the problem with being conceived by the Force. No, I never understood it either.)

So Barris does karate
And Mace took up pilates
And Obi's teaching Yoda how to drink
And Aayla's body-sculpting
Will get your blood a-pumping
See, it's really not as bad as you might think

So why not look on the down side of life
(Yeah, you're right, mine did kind of suck .)
Sometimes it's all rules, trouble and strife
(Yeah, Luke [i]did[/i] do me a big favour.)

It wouldn't be untrue to
Say life's a piece of poodoo
And lately it's been getting more like hell
At least you died a hero
The chances now are zero
For any of your friends to do so well

Terrific post, Tahi Death really isn't the end in Star Wars. I hope Anakin is having this much fun in the Force netherworld I think I'm with him on rather seeing Aayla's body sculpting though

I enjoyed this Master. It was a great mood lifter. An interesting take on death coming from a man who let the fear of it drive him insane. Vader has definately chilled out in the afterlife here. Good stuff!
