Amanda (Milly) Dowler's body found - Offer your thoughts and condolences to the Dowler family

On September 21st, Surry Police identified the body discovered in Hampshire (Yately Forest), as that of the missing teenager Amanda Dowler, also known to friends and family as Milly. Milly went missing on March 21st 2002, and the UK's media/police worked very hard to find the teenager, who disappeared while returning home from school. Her face appeared on trucks, bill boards and certain websites had a pop-up window asking for any information. A national paper offered rewards of up to £100,000 for any information. She was aged 13, and is described by her family as bright, intelligent and full of life.

I, like the rest of the UK, feel extremely saddened that the hunt for the teenager has ended ever so badly. I can only hope that the police can discover how Milly died, from the remains found. And I can only hope that the individual responsible for her murder can be identified.

Not the ending we had all been hoping for after six months of searching

 

I came down to London about a month after she went missing when they had all the posters everywhere like on the subway and phone boxes, unfortunatly I knew then it was not going to be a happy ending.

Is it me or does this seem to be happening more and more in the UK?

 

No it's not you LV This is happening more, but a lot of cases go unreported - there are a lot of young people missing.

The case of the two 10-year olds is very disturbing - it's very bad when two girls together are not safe. Not only that, but the person charged with the murders is one who had a position where he was supposed to be trustworthy around children. On top of that, there's the allegations against one of the liaison officers

Let's hope that the police manage to find Milly's killer soon so the family can have some peace of mind.
