Got in at 19:00, 2122 people ahead of me, estimated waiting time is 19 minutes. I guess everything will be sold out by then.
Pressed the wrong button *buy instead of book hotels Hit book hotels at 1001am and 2800 people in front of me with 28 min wait Edit Wait time jumped to 47 min??? 1002 am Edit 2 Now down to 33 min 1003 am 1006am 2570 people in front
It really must be my lucky day as I had no wait to get into the hotel page and have managed to secure a 7 night reservation at the Residence Inn by the Convention Center from Tuesday 25 August. For those waiting to get to the booking page there appeared to be lots of different hotels available. I sorted by distance from the Convention Center and didn't immediately notice either the Hilton or the Marriott as being available for my 7 nights. There were loads of others available though and I just quickly clicked on the Residence Inn as I was anxious to get something booked. I remember seeing the Courtyard available but can't remember the names of all the others available. I didn't look too hard at all the hotels on the list as I just wanted to get a reservation secured and figured I'd be happy enough with the Residence Inn. The rate for the Residence Inn was $249 per night but there were definitely cheaper options available at other places. Good luck to everyone else still in the queue!
I clicked on some of the cheaper hotel, but when I clicked to continue they were gone. Only expensive hotels with some distance left, so I'm not making a reservation no, I'm hoping to find something through other channels.
Other stuff might open up closer to the date - worth keeping an eye on after summer vacation is over in the US.
How do you book at the hotels? I'm on the hotel page, I've selected a hotel, and it won't let me go any further!
Okay, that was tricky. I had to do core nights to get Marriott to pop up, get the reservation JUST for those nights, and then go back and modify it for an expanded stay. Interestingly the non-core days are the days wait-listed.
For some reason to get other hotels to pop up you have to select the show nights only. THen you can expand your stay
Weird, same thing Tried for 26-30 but Sunday night not available. Went to hotel list and no close hotels available but when I clicked on the map view and clicked on Hilton Anaheim hotel it allowed me to make a reservation. I didn't get in until 10:20 or 10:21. It was $239 but taxes, something like $1150 total I think for 4 nights. Expensive and may change it later on but we will see.
Could be better, but I think I will stay with this coice. What did everyone else end up with? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Still 10x easier than Chicago. And also, there's a ton of hotels there so you may get something off the CC block later.
I finally got it to work. I got in at the Homewood Suites. Pricery than I wanted but I guess overtime is in my future
Aaaand, hotel sorted. Haven't found a roomie before booking this time, but I figure, there's 14 months to go...
Clarion is perfect and right within that section of hotels that are super close to the convention center.
Seems like a very limited supply of hotels left. They come and go now, sometimes with no hotels at all to choose from. Other times with only a few and very briefly, by the time you select it it's already gone.
