The irony of this Celebration hotel situation is about what we've all experienced some months ago for CIX. For me, the best part is . . . I'm passing Anaheim this time. Not getting stressed, no re-budgeting, travel plans, etc., can wait for another Celebration at another time. I wish you all the best of luck in preparing for this event in 2020. I'll continue reading your post and send you happy vibes throughout your endeavors.
Book *a* hotel now, but keep an eye on the site. People will inevitably cancel for whatever reason so rooms will open back up. When I went in 2015 it was my first celebration (and convention in general) so I wasn't well-versed in hotel room blocks. Wound up booking a motel outside of the official Celebration hotel block. I would randomly check on the rooms on the Celebration site and around, I think, November/December I saw the Mariott was available and got it. Cancelled my other reservation. So just wait a bit and keep checking the site. You could wind up finding an opening at some of the closer hotels as the convention gets near.
I already booked a room at Hampton Inn on West Katella Avenue. Speaking of which, how do people feel about the price of their hotel so far? Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
2015 Anaheim $80 Anaheim Maingate. Not booked thru Celebration which included Continental breakfast 2017 Orlando Hyatt Regency (right across the street) $145 Not booked thru Celebration 2019 Chicago 1st reservation at adjoining Marriott for $280 per night Not booked thru Celebration. Cancelled for 2nd 2nd Reservation at downtown Chicago for $150 per night. Not booked thru Celebration. Cancelled for 3rd 3rd Reservation at downtown (Home2 Suites) for $76 which included Continental breakfast Not booked thru Celebration 2020 Anaheim Hilton Anaheim next to convention center. Thru Celebration . $239 (plus parking and taxes) Since overnight doesn't make sense anymore with the lottery I will be looking for cheaper places as we get closer to the event.
Did they do shuttles last time it was in Anaheim? I might take my Tie Pilot costume this time and really don't want to walk 1.2 miles from my hotel in the super hot California weather in it.
Not sure about convention shuttles but I believe shuttles operate from Disney down to their car parks by the conventione centre. Might not be door to door but much shorter walk. Someone more familiar with the area/SWCA15 could probably give more info.
Got a message from Housing Connections telling me I have my 6 days at a Hilton down the street. I would've loved to have a hotel next to the con. center like last time-Marriott, but everything got snatched up as you know. the room is $229 a night and about a mile away.
That’s cool. I still need to get a room, I think I’ve got a little time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just booked the Grand Legacy directly. Slightly further away than my block hotel (if you count one block as further away ) but it has all my nights and it's cheaper than Desert Palms through Connections. Still going to keep trying for the extra nights at Desert Palms or some of the other suite rooms when they open up next month as 3 beds is better for our group, but pretty happy to have all the nights locked in at a good rate. Still easy walking distance, and great position for Disneyland.
It's ironic that I tell people to keep checking back because some people will likely cancel existing reservations...
