Andor Official "Andor" Series Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

If any shows will do it, It will be Andor and maybe Rangers of the Republic. Filoni loves his prequel politics, and the makers behind Andir might make the prequel politics more intresting like they in the books and in clone wars. Like Kenobi is this saga adventure movie so might this be a big political tv show.

 

A lot closer to the OT then the PT, pretty much the whole GFFA has settled down to Imperial Rule, the interplanetary squabbles a thing of the past.

 

Think of Rebels basically. Although probably closer even to the OT

 

Every location that we have seen him at is some kind of Imperial installation so I'm guessing he's more into blowing up supply lines than causing a financial upheaval within the Intergalactic Banking Clan.

Hmmmm. The clone/stand cast tanks in The Mandalorian seem to imply Snoke wasn't around quite yet. But who knows...

 

First of all, Snoke wasn’t born until after The Battle of Endor. Second, we don’t need anymore backstory to Snoke, as we already know who he is.​

 

Not going to lie, someone like Tony Gilroy writing Snoke is an interesting prospect to me.

 

What if it's who becomes Snoke. I mean one of the art we see off an imperial facility that looks kinda like kaminoan.

 

We also knew who Anakin Skywalker was, and who Obi Wan Kenobi was. To a far greater extend than we know about Snoke. We still got an entire trilogy about them...

We don't "need" anything. That doesn't mean that the creative leads should not use a character just becase one random fan thinks we saw enough of that character. Anything related to the use of a character should be based on whether the character fits into the story, and how well it is executed.

This is Gary Snoke, and yeah, I guess I can see the resemblance. Sort of similar facial structure, I think.

 

Why would one fan have no interest in anymore backstory to Snoke? It was already explained in books and comics. Also, Wookiepedia literally says Snoke was born after the Battle of Endor.

 

The Wook (or rather, the sources it's drawing from) contradicts itself on that point though. Citing Secrets of the Sith, it states that Snoke was born after Endor, but a couple of paragraphs later it says that Snoke was around to witness the fall of the Empire, with specific reference to Endor (this is sourced from Ultimate Star Wars). Perhaps his consciousness existed in some intangible way prior to Endor and the 'after Endor' date refers to when he was given physical form, but taken at face value the two statements would appear to be in conflict with each other. The character's infobox just gives a non-committal "4 ABY or prior".

In fairness, though, Secrets of the Sith is the more recent source and USW was published prior to the revelations in TROS, so the former's version of events is probably the one they'll be going with from here on. That being said, it is just reference material and I'm sure Lucasfilm would have no qualms about overwriting it if there was a showrunner or director in the future who was particularly passionate about involving Snoke in a pre-Endor story.

 

They might claim Snoke was a real person and later cloned after he was killed or something. Would explain the genetic make up used to create the clones in general.

When is this show set again? 5 years before ANH?

 

Nope. He was just a mutated clone of palpatine as explained in the rise of skywalker.

 

Well no it wasnt explained that way at all. They actually have the freedom to explain him how they want.

 

If they do so, then Disney would ruin the happy ending of Return of the Jedi.

 

I think like i said all shows from the rise of the empire to the rise of the first order will deal with cloning and Snoke.

 

What? No way. Not even the bad batch shows that.

 

As far as any details we've garnered from Snoke in reference materials, books, or comics, let's be real... as much as Disney claims that stuff is canon, movies and TV have clear precedence over published materials. We've already seen retcons, contradictions, and outright overwriting of story material that's been published. The Ahsoka book and Kanan: The Last Padawan are notable examples of this, as are some of the early (2015) Marvel Star Wars comics, and the Aftermath trilogy. There's clearly no hesitancy from the movie/TV creatives to pull from those sources as needed, but there's an equal lack of hesitancy in reconning them.

On that note, Snoke's backstory is wide open for whoever wants to address it, in whatever way they want to address it.

How would it ruin, let alone affect, impact, or otherwise relate to the ending of Return of the Jedi at all?
