Andor Andor Episode 2.12 (SERIES FINALE!!!) Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

The series finale was actually released in 2016.

 

This is where the fun ends

 

...but Rogue One begins!

 

I thought it was 1977?

 

Actually 2019.

 

Huh, I totally did NOT expect this episode to be a musical comedy. Mon Mothma singing "Defying Palpatine" was pure gold. 10/10.

 

Gilroy usually is so good at twists, but I think we all saw it coming that Luthen would fall at the hands of

Nice use of Imperial March crossed with Total Eclipse of The Heart though - particularly given it was sung in show by Ima Gundi’s long lost daughter - Isa Also Gundi. Wild that she was Cassian’s long lost sister though.

 

It will be the first episode I watch not from the moment it drops...going to be hard to avoid spoilers for 12 hours

 

I expected the Empire to catch up to Luthen, but the show trial was quite a sight to see. The fact that they got so many actors to come back to air their grievances with Luthen really cemented him as an iconic anti-hero. The return of the Soup Nazi was a bit much, though.

 

All a dream?

 

Luthen Rael gets stranded on Endor and lives out his remaining days radicalizing Ewoks. Genius twist.

The Raddus arc is the best arc of the season, to be sure, though I expected to see Cassian and the other Andor characters during this and the other final episodes.

 

I did like though that they modelled several Mon Kalamari characters on the usual types though, especially Mon Kalaramarima as a senator. Her friend Gill Organa was also great.

Luthen 9 Legs was also a great mafia boss name. But hands down, I loved his henchman - Cod Bane. Some other characters of note - Boba Fish and his son, Jangled Fish. A group of clown fish called The Off Batch. The rebel fish - Sword Guerrera.

Even a nice little ST reference with now Jedi Knight Fin and his master, 'Sting' Rey.

Drops during the night here and I can watch only in the evening so..it is going to be a loong day... unfortunately I will have to think about real world stuff and I don't think I will notice but hope that I will in the afternoon because that will mean the real world stuff went well!

 

Drops 2am here and I've been staying up til 5 to avoid spoilers but I'm up really early that day for work so will have to wait til the afternoon

I'm absolutely enchanted with idea Dedra ends up stationed on the DS where she is put in charge of coordinating the mouse droids. If those had escaped the DS, who knows what would have happened to the Rebellion.

 

What a strange ending, I can't believe Cassian, Melshi, Draven, Bail and Mon survived. I swear I thought Cassian, Melshi and Bail were going to bite the bullet.

 

I like how the beginning of this episode was like the beginning of S2:E1, with Cassian undercover at an Imperial military installation, but this time he's stealing a Death Star Mini-Rig, and then he's chased by other Death Star Mini-Rigs, and pretty soon it's tricky to spot which is Cassian's Death Star Mini-Rig in this Death Star Mini-Rig dogfight, and that makes you worry, because each time one explodes, you don't know if it was Cassian's Death Star Mini-Rig, or someone else's Death Star Mini-Rig. But then you just remind yourself that Cassian is in Rogue One, and that helps ease your mind.
All of these years, I thought Luke blew up the first Death Star, but it turns out it was the 27th.

 

Here we are, the finale, finally the super marathon Andor/RO/ANH can be done, good fun for all.
