Yes. Dedra is a strange character. I'm glad we saw the destructive end of Syril and Dedra, or else, this wouldn't have made much sense. I mean, destructive end for their relationship.

Overall, the story of the political and espionage elements of the Rebellion is intriguing. The senator and the spy building implicit trust. I actually prefer this show way over the fantasy espionage nonsense. This is why science fiction combined with fantasy is essential. Or that's how Karen Traviss put it. I appreciated the amalgamation of the two styles.

Again I think Dedra and Syril are a bit different to most of the Imp's we see, a lot of them are just sociopathic careerists who view the Empire as good for themselves whether its becoming very powerful or indulging in their worst aspects as killers, bullies, rapists, etc. They are both highly morally questionable careerists as well you could argue but there does seem to be a belief from them that the Empire as needed morally, they represent people who might make that choice in real life but we see the path it leads them down which is much worse than just death/pain. Even someone like Gorst seemed fine with himself until the point he got what he deserved as he was such a monster but Syril was totally destroyed as a person when he found out what the Empire was doing on Ghorman and we see afterwards Dedra is as well.

This is one of the more wonderful things about Andor; showing a galaxy full of characters who aren't just archetypes. They support the Empire because they want law and order, not the triumph of evil. The rebels are not all paragons of goodness and light. They join the rebellion for an infinite number of reasons.

The Rebels will do what they have to do and generally not bat an eye about it. Things were set in motion by Luke Skywalker way back in 1977. In the cantina, he doesn't tell Ben Kenobi, "Holy $#%$, you just chopped off that guy's arm!!!" Instead, there is absolutely no transition and Luke listens calmly as Ben mentions finding a crew that might deliver them to safety. On the Death Star, Luke just fires away and drops stormtroopers like it's nothing. Fight or flight, sure, but there's no moral dilemma for him. And then, of course, Luke blows up a space station occupied by thousands or millions or whatever.

I think this generally reflects the harsh realities of a large galaxy with lots of frontier worlds and underclasses on the more occupied worlds. Mon Mothma's reaction to seeing two killings in Episode 9 is telling.

Eh, in the end I think Partagaz will be stationed on the Death Star and will be rather proud of himself about it.

Hey all. I am only to Episode 5. While I'm digging the show. My wife and kids (ages 13 and16 are all SW fans) are extremely bored at the pacing of it. My 13 year old says its like they took the conversation at The Death Star in Episode 4 and made an entire show of it. :)

While I certainly appreciate what the show is doing, and am loving it myself, I can understand that they don't feel it is very Star Warsy...not enough adventure for them, I suspect. My wife loved season one, but feels that Andor isn't actually focused on/featured enough. Anyways....

Do I tell them to hold on as it's building to some worthwhile payoff... Or do I let them jump ship? Trying to keep their faith while remaining spoiler free for myself....

The next arc (episodes 7-9) are generally regarded as the best of the show so far, so that makes a good argument to keep going. I think they are also more Cassian-centric than the first 6, so especially true for your wife. The show is definitely paced more like a drama than an action show throughout, so it might just not be to your kids' taste, but episode 8 is very action packed.

Tell your kids Andor is like eating your vegetables; it may leave an unpleasant taste in your mouth here and there but the payoff is worth it.

Does an Ewok poop in the woods? Each episode has had enough action to hold attention...but Episode 4 was very dry.

Andor has been a success for Disney in that it’s made more money than it costs. Brought in about 300 million dollars worth of Disney plus subscriptions. So I hope this teaches Disney there is room for more stuff like Andor.

I've been very pleased overall and look forward to the last three episodes. It might be a good idea to drag these last ones out for a week or two, but it depends on how it ends and what everyone will be talking about.
Most fans had a consensus that the show needed more ETs in it and this season hasn't improved too much on that area, i thought having some on Ghorman would've dispelled all that talk giving more reason to why there aren't many other species around. The Empire captured or killed them. But I haven't read any complaints on this subject for the most part. I just need to get the Ghorman chant out of my head that's all.

Oh and I wish there was a food promotion for Andor. Imagine sitting at the breakfast table with a box of Wheaties ...and on the cover is Andor flying the Tie Interceptor prototype over Mina Rau wheat fields! Not as good as my Ac-O-bytes cereal ad for the Acolyte but it's okay. Or same thing for Wheat thins snacks..free Andor Mina Rau wheat fields cards, Ghorman death cards inside. Ah well, maybe for The Mandalorian & Grogu movie.

Anyone think it might be Galen Erso that insists the Death Star reactor needs to be coated in Kalkite? It would make for a certain irony, I think. The Empire destroys a peoples because it desperately needs to seed its own failure.

With all of the drama of the Ghorman massacre and Mon Mothma's escape in the rear view mirror part of me wonders if the last arc is going to feel more like an epilogue more so than an action packed sendoff. Any chance these last three episodes are more low key than last week?

There's a pretty similar number of Aliens in Andor and the OT (esp if you compare it to TESB and ANH). I guess the only real difference is that the OT had a couple of important characters (chewbacca, yoda) that were aliens.

I was rewatching season 1... and there's a lot of aliens in the backgrounds I didn't notice the first time.

Just rewatched "Secret Cargo" and the follow-up Rebels Recon and it really is remarkable how perfectly this Rebels/Rogue One/Andor project dovetails together. You can quibble over minor details in like the exact wording of the speech (It's probably intended as the same speech just reworded for a different audience, though there's clearly enough wiggle room that it could be "we just didn't see that part in Andor due to editing" or "The ISB realized they couldn't contain the story so faked a version that cut out more sympathetic bits and focused on her targeting Palpatine"), but there is so much consistency not just in the depiction of events but the intention behind-the-scenes.

In the Rebels Recon they talk about how Mon Mothma has been clandestinely funding rebel groups for years while searching for a more peaceful solution in the Senate, only to finally realize that isn't possible. It's wonderful to see that realization play out on-screen in Andor.

The theme of "we have people everywhere" that's alluded to with the two Senate technicians in Andor even works to add depth to the fact that Mon Mothma's Dantooine speech is broadcast on HoloNet News. I would love to see the story of the agents hidden in HNN's headquarters who probably gave their lives hijacking the signal to tell the galaxy to finally wake up and fight.

Andor has pretty firmly entrenched itself as my favorite Star War, but part of that is how it adds depth to the other stories. It puts the fight into material terms, it gives the whole story, which often operates in a mythic mode, a grounded base reality that we can see everything else as a reflection of. It's redefined how I think of the galaxy far, far, away, and while Star Wars needs a variety of tones, I hope that Andor becomes a touchstone in how certain future projects are approached.

I saw this image posted on Twitter in reference to that line where they mention that the lab on Eadu tried everything to find a synthetic alternative but was unable to, suggesting that Galen was over there like “sorry guys, I guess you can’t build your super murder machine now without this stuff right?” And the Empire is like, “not without genociding the Ghor, you’re correct. Luckily we’ve been proactive on that front, just in case!”

This is now my most wanted thing in Star Wars. The OT was actually a very small story, galaxy-wise. There is a lot of scope for a series on the wider rebellion. They could even throw in a few GC Luke/Han/Leia cameos.

We still need to find out what happens to Luthen and Kleya and that will likely play out with a loud bang. Dedra, Partagaz and likely the entire ISB go down and then there’s Lonnie.

I suspect ep 11 is where it all happens though and ep 12 deals with fall out and Rogue One starting positions.

Huge Rebel's fan here, and I didn't mind the Secret Cargo retcons at all. While details may have changed, they still tell the same story, and characters end up where they need to be.

Small things, at least to me. The speech Mon Mothma gives to the Senate is different, message is the same, Palpatine bad. She doesn't go to Dantooine to make her second speech. Bail stays on Coruscant.
