[ANH] What was Chewie Scared of?

    Just finished watching ANH, and something puzzled me. When R2 releases the gang from the trash compactor, Chewie hears a noise and runs away. Han then fires into the room. What did Chewie hear? Was it the Diagno returning? Have I just answered my own question - and if so, WHY was Chewie scared of an eyeball and tentacle?

    The Diagno did return. Chewie is scared of more than just a an eye and a tentacle, its an eye and lots of tentacle's.

    It sort of fits into that "gentle giant" image Chewie has. Here he is this big, scary, muscular alien guy, and he's freaking out over something Han is just shrugging over. It's just part of that humor to show that Chewie is alot more bark than bite. :)
