Anyone here actually religious?

I mean, besides Arlol, obviously. With something like three threads making fun of organized religion recently, I have to wonder how this does not constitute trolling. Personally, I'm a very religious person, and I really hate how complacent people can get about this stuff. Even if you're not a hugely religious person like Arlol, I'm sure there are other churchogers here, so I thought I'd make the opposite thread. I'm sure what wil happen from here is a lot of naysaying and making fun, but whatever.

For me, I'm a spiritual person who, after a lot of stuff affecting me in certain ways in my life, cannot deny the existence of God. For me, it actually seems just a silly thing to do. So sound off below, I guess

I had 12 years of Catholic education but I lapsed after leaving home. I'd say I was agnostic at this point.

 

I am a baptized Christian. I simply *cannot* deny God. The proof of Him is everywhere. I acknowledge Him in all of my stories too. I write original fiction in which faith in God plays a huge part. However, most here seem very hostile to faith in much of anything. It's very sad.

 

I'm an active member of the Church of Nicholson.

 

I'm not offended either. A person's religion (or lack of) is his or her affair. Now violence (terrorism, persecution, repression of women, homosexuals, etc) in the name of religion is another ball game.

 

I only believe in John Connor and the creed of Arnie.

I lean somewhat towards agnostic beliefs, in that if God exists, it's impossible to know what He wants or comprehend him.

If this is about my little thread from earlier, I was trying to start a Monty Python's The Meaning of Life quote thread, but well....I went about it the wrong way, I guess. Sorry if I ruffled anybody's feathers.

I'm a practicing Catholic and I love being one. I used to get offended but I just don't go into those threads anymore. Well...I can't stop myself when Vivec is putting out false information about the Catholic faith, but for the most part I let Paul fight the Catholic battles now. I view it as a waste of time since people on here don't actually want to read the truth they just want to spout their own opinion loudly, multiple times and not really have a discussion. I'm all for discussing my faith if it is a discussion, but the threads that take place here are not discussions.

While perhaps there are times when it could be done in a more respectful manner(and that goes both ways), everyone is entitled to their opinion and spiritual views. I don't have any more right to push my views on people that don't have faith, than they do to tell me there is no god. It's why I really prefer not to discuss it in most cases, as it's a personal thing for every individual. I sure as hell don't push my views on others, or try and make people fearful of god.

 

I agree. No matter who's right or isn't, courtesy tends to disappear as soon as religion is involved and everyone becomes... let's say annoying, if only to stay within the boundaries of the TOS.




...and that's the reason I suggested to exile, I mean, to take all religion and atheism-related threads to a new community forum called The Jedi Temple that we can all ignore, I mean, where the interested users can have meaningful discussions. If there's an Arena, why not?
