Summary: Revan and the Exile on the day before they embark to join the Republic forces fighting the Mandalorians in the Outer Rim.
Author's Notes: I've taken a bit of artistic license and decided to give Revan a first name. Obviously the Exile needs a name as well. Therefore, the characters are named Derias Revan and Jei Xeleid. Also, I can't take credit for coming up with this title, I got it from the name of a track by little-known indie hip-hop group, Jedi Mind Tricks.

Also, this first chapter was RPd while my writing skills were not so great, so don't judge the entire novel by this first chapter.

Summary: Before a Jedi is ready for epic adventures, he has to learn to face everyday challenges with steadiness and courage. Qui-Gon helps his young apprentice navigate one such everyday struggle.
Author Note: This story is set in my made-up ?alternate EU.? Obi-Wan?s backstory is quite different from in the JA books, but you don?t need to know the whole thing for the story to make sense. Just suspend disbelief and come along for the ride.

This story is especially for Princess_Arulmozhi and DarthIshtar, who have been such wonderful, loyal readers over the years. The Obi/Qui mush is for P_A, who is the queen of such things, and Kemé is for Ish?who actually writes her better than I do.

Other Note: This fic was tested on DarthIshtar and found safe for human use. Ish was only mildly harmed in the making of this fanfic.

Notes: This is LOOSELY based on a reference in JA #3 and eventually runs into TPM, by the end it is no longer AU. The timelines are different, assume Obi-Wan is late teens when he disappears, not 13 as in JA.

Summary: A young knight of the Jedi-Bendu tries to convince his peers to abandon their loyalty to a traitor warlord. Instead of finding a receptive audience, however, the young man is captured, and has to use all his wit and skill to escape.
Notes: This story may describe how a single parent Order gave rise to both the Jedi and the Sith.
Other Notes: I believe the official EU has explored this era somewhat?but I don?t really read the EU. I made it all up.
Other Other Notes: This story is a fusion of the real-life struggle of St. John of the Cross, a Spanish monk of the 16th Century, and an image from my I?ll Trade You This Picture For 1000 Words thread. Once again, my image ?entry? has to be posted somewhere else, ?cause it just won?t fit in that thread. Incidentally, the poem quote at the beginning actually consists of lines from John of the Cross? ?Stanzas of the Soul.? B.R.E. = ?Before Republic Era.?

Disclaimer: This fic was challenged, from a certain point of view, by Darth Ishtar. I know little of the Before era, but decided to try anyway. So here is what came of it...

I'd also like to thank shanobi for some idea and history help with Xanatos.

Challenge: Okay, I challenge you to write a Before the Saga vignette or short story that is AU, but you are only allowed to reveal that it is an AU in the last line. Everything else will have to either be misleading or make it so that when it turns out to be AU, it makes sense.

To make sure you understand the story, here is some background information. Obi-Wan, Siri, Xanatos and all the characters you see in this story are Dragon Riders. Obi-Wan is five years old and Siri is three. In the Dragon Temple, Dragon Riders work alongside their dragons hence the name Dragon Riders. The order is like the jedi order except for the fact that they allow attatchments and are more carefree than the jedi. Also, many animals roam the grounds which can talk and are bigger than usual.
