    Title: Arik's Antics
    Author: Kelia
Characters: the OC author, Arik Skywalker, A/P, L/L, Obi-Wan and the Jedi Order
    Genre: AU, Humor/Drama
A/N: This is my response to the [link=http://boards.theforce.net/fan_fiction_resource/b10304/27816976/p1/?108]Dear Diary Challenge[/link]. My character is an OC, originally featured in [link=http://boards.theforce.net/Message.aspx?topic=24416496&brd=10476&start=27035866]The Tristan Betrayal[/link], however, this diary will not follow that story.

If anyone is interested in a PM, please let me know

    Entry 1

Arik stared at the blank datapad in his hands with dread. What exactly was he supposed to write? Without lifting his head, he cautiously peeked around the room at his fellow initiates, all with their heads bowed and fingers busily tapping away.

?Great,? he moaned, ?I?m the only one who doesn?t have anything to say.?

?Begin by introducing yourself, you can,? Yoda instructed.

Arik?s head snapped up to find Yoda?s knowing, slightly amused gazed fixed squarely on him.

?Yes Master,? he muttered, his cheeks burning. Inhaling deeply, he began to type.

My name is Arik Skywalker and I need to improve shielding my thoughts.

Arik paused, wondering if that would suffice for a first entry.

    ?Do it will not.?

Arik jumped. Yoda was now leaning over his shoulder, peering at his datapad. ?Master! You said these would be private!?

?Private it will be when serious you take this assignment,? Yoda lectured, jabbing his gimer stick into Arik?s leg. ?Good reason I have for giving you a diary to write. Trust me you should.?

?Yes Master. Sorry.? Arik half turned, his shoulder blocking Yoda?s view and began to type again.

My name is Arik Skywalker and I am 13 years old. Before you can ask, yes, I?m that Skywalker?s son. My dad is Anakin Skywalker, the biggest, toughest Jedi that ever lived.

He glanced over his shoulder. Yoda had moved on and was now whispering softly into another initiate?s ear.

He single-handedly killed the last of the Sith lords, restoring peace to the entire Galaxy and bringing balance to the Force.

He paused for a moment, reflecting on everything his father had told him of his battle with Sidious.

Okay, maybe not single-handedly. Uncle Obi-Wan and the rest of the Order raised him from the age of ten, giving him special training for the day he would face the Sith. So you might say it was a combined effort but it was my dad?s blade that pierced the black heart of the most vicious, evil Sith to ever curse the Galaxy.

Arik studied what he?d just written. ?I hope that?s not giving him too much credit,? he thought. He didn?t know much about Sith history, but considering how conniving and manipulative Palpatine had been over the years, he had to be right up there on the list of top Sith.

My mom is Padmé Amidala Naberrie Skywalker. She was Queen of Naboo, Senator and now Co-Chancellor of the Republic. She is very brave, single-handedly thwarting the Trade Federation?s invasion and occupation of Naboo at 14 and now works very hard to maintain democracy and freedom throughout the Galaxy.

Arik smiled. His mother was the smartest, most accomplished woman knew. He hoped his description did her justice.

I have twin siblings, a brother Luke and sister Leia. They are 15 and each have two Masters. Dad says it?s because us Skywalkers are so strong in the Force and need the extra guidance. Uncle Obi-Wan says it?s because no one single Jedi could handle a Skywalker on their own.

Quite a compliment, huh? Anyway, Luke is trained by Masters Yoda and Kit Fisto and Leia is trained by Masters Sarela Lerann and Barriss Offee.

As for me, I haven?t been chosen yet but I?m close. I know I am. I can feel it. You get chosen at 13 and I just had my thirteenth birthday. I don?t know who my Master?or Masters if Obi-Wan is right will be, but I?m anxious about beginning the next

I like Arik so far... hope he gets chosen as a padawan! He's 13... isn't that when they get transferred to the agri-corps if they don't get chosen? It's hard to imagine a Skywalker facing that kind of humiliation!

Please PM me when you update!

"Private it will be when serious you take this assignment,"

With Yoda around, can you ever really be sure? :p

 "Balance" implies good and evil co-existing together in a state of stalemate, rather than one vanquishing the other.

[face_shame_on_you] Sticks and stones may break Palps's bones, but names will never hurt him.

LOL! Interesting differing of opinions there. :p

Thank you and so doe he :p

He's 13... isn't that when they get transferred to the agri-corps if they don't get chosen?

Yep, though I don?t think Arik has to worry about that happening to him.

You don?t think the Grand Master of the Jedi Order is true to his word? Private they will be?perhaps between initiate and Yoda?.:p

"Balance" implies good and evil co-existing together in a state of stalemate, rather than one vanquishing the other.

Hey, I?m just quoting Lucas here! Besides, I don?t think you can truly vanquish evil. Everyone has to choose their path, Force sensitive or not.

Good so far. Keep it up, Master.

Thanks [face_blush] [face_blush] I hope you stick around for more.

A/N: Below is my response to the January mini-challenge of Storms

    Entry 2

    Dear Diary,

We?ve just returned from a trip to Tatooine to visit grandma Shmi and her family. I didn?t mention it last time because I?ve been to Tatooine numerous times and there is usually nothing to say.

Don?t get me wrong, I love grandma and all but it?s so boring there. She lives on a moisture farm with her husband, Cleigg Lars, his son Owen and daughter-in-law Beru.

The highlight of their day is gathering around the dinner table to reminisce about stuff that happened long before I was born and wouldn?t be interesting to me even I had been around for it.

Tatooine itself isn?t much better. It?s mostly a big sandbox of repressive heat filled with beings content to work hard and sit around talking in their spare time. Really, if there is a bright center of the Universe, Tatooine is the planet it?s farthest from.

Supposedly Mos Eisley is filled with all sorts of exciting beings and events but dad says its little more than a cesspool of scum and villainy and if I ever so much as point my toes in it?s direction, he?ll have me apprenticed to Master Windu for the rest of my life.

    Humph.

My dad would never do that to me. Still, I haven?t yet come up with a way to sneak over there but one of these days I will.

    Really, I will.

Back to our trip. Luke and I were using the Force to have a wizard sand fight one morning when dad offered to take us on a tour of the Jundland Wastes. We?ve never been there before because of all the sand people, but I guess dad had all he could take of grown up talk because the next thing I knew, we had piled into his speeder and were off.

Dad explained how the wastes were not to be traveled lightly because of the sand people and the kyat dragons roaming around. I really wanted to see a dragon but dad said it?s never a good idea to get close to one.

I tried to argue a Jedi would be able to handle himself but dad said it wasn?t the point and besides, a Jedi does not put himself or others in danger when he can help it.

We were quiet after that. Honestly, there isn?t much to see, just a bunch of rocks and dust.

We were just about to head back to the farm when dad got a peculiar look on his face. Then he said a sandstorm was coming and we needed to find shelter. Fast!

My heart started pounding. My dad is ?The Hero With No Fear,? so when he gets worried, it?s definitely not a good thing.

We hadn?t traveled far when the wind began to gust and sand was flying everywhere. I couldn?t see anything, not Luke sitting right beside me or dad sitting right in front of me and I don?t mind saying, I?ve never been so scared in my life.

Luke pulled his cloak off, covering the both of us and it helped a little. I still couldn?t see and all I could hear was the howling wind.

The next thing I knew, I was being lifted from the speeder and guided towards a huge rock. There was a dwelling of some sort there and we staggered inside, collapsing as soon as we were far enough inside.

When I?d rubbed enough sand from my eyes, I looked around a bit, shocked to see rags, dingy pots and what looked like a sleeping pallet.

Someone lived here? Who? And why? And where were they now?

    ?Are you boys okay??

My dad?s voice broke through my thoughts.

    ?Yes,? we answered in unison.

I could tell Luke was as shaken as I was but we weren?t about to admit it. Dad said sandstorms were another reason we were to never, ever wander off on Tatooine without him and then he hugged us both.

I think he was rattled as well, but that will forever remain between the three of us.

I never learned who lived in that dwelling. Dad didn?t know, nor did any of the Lars but I?ll be forever thankful to the Force it was there and dad managed to find it. I don?t even want to think of what would have happened to us if he hadn?t.

We?re back home on Coruscant now and I?ve decided I hate sand. I mean, I really hate sand. It?s coarse and rough and it gets

We?re back home on Coruscant now and I?ve decided I hate sand. I mean, I really hate sand. It?s coarse and rough and it gets everywhere. And no matter how hard you try, or how many times you wash your clothes, you?re still finding grains of the stuff in everything. I mean really, how is it possible that sand manages to work its way under a cloak, through thick leg coverings and trousers and into undershorts?

[face_laugh] Nice that Arik has the same thoughts about sand that his dad did. I'm still loving this story, if you have a pm list can I e on it? Great update!=D=

    Entry 3

    Dear Diary,

    Have I got news! I am an official padawan!! [face_dancing] [face_dancing] [face_dancing]

I?m so excited but I have to be careful not to let it show around the other initiates my age because most of them haven?t been chosen yet and I don?t want to upset anybody.
Not that anyone should be worrying or anything. It usually takes a bit of time for everybody to be chosen but things are a bit different for my family.

You?re probably wondering how the whole padawan/master thing happens, huh? Well, most of it is the Masters seeking ?the will of the Force?. Dad says it can take years for the Force to guide a Master to just the right padawan, which makes no sense to me. If the Force really decides which initiate should go to which Master, why doesn?t it just come right out and say it? Well not say it, of course, but make it clear to the Master? What?s the point of hour after hour of meditation on the matter?

Dad says it?s to teach patience but I think it?s the Force?s idea of a boring joke. Obviously, it (the Force) has no idea just how uncomfortable it is to sit cross-legged with your hands palm up on your knees seeking?anything for an extended period of time. I mean, hasn?t it ever heard of muscle cramps?

Anyway, once the Force reveals it?s choice to the Master, he or she goes before the Council to get approval and then approaches the initiate. They go through the motion of asking us if we will accept them as a Master, like someone is going to say no! And then it is announced to the entire Order.

It?s not that exciting but it is a very big deal for everyone of us initiates. There was a time when if you weren?t chosen by the time your fourteenth birthday rolled around, you were sent to the Agri-corps. That?s a fate worse than being chosen as Master Windu?s padawan! They don?t do that anymore. Instead, if you aren?t chosen, they give you several options of serving that do not involve going out on missions.

No one in my lifetime hasn?t been chosen because the Council has decided there are many ways those weak in the Force can serve. I just don?t understand why they didn?t know that in the first place. Aren?t they supposed to be the wisest Jedi?

Anyway, back to me. I was approached by Master Siri Tachi yesterday. She said the Force led her to me and if I would agree, she would like to be my main master. Of course I agreed!

Master Tachi has a great sense of humor and she likes to have fun a lot, unlike Uncle Obi-Wan, who she is married to. Dad told me while he was growing up Uncle Obi-Wan never once cracked a smile. Imagine that? How could anybody be so?so?stiff with my dad as a padawan?

There are so many tales of his antics floating around the Temple, I would have expected Uncle Obi-Wan to still be laughing about them but anytime I ask him to tell me a story about my dad growing up, he just groans and starts muttering about what a miracle of the Force it is he managed to survive raising Anakin Skywalker.

    Humph.

Old people have a tendency to exaggerate so I just shrug it off, though I?m still hopeful he?ll get around to telling me someday.

Anyway, I was also approached by Master Garen Muln to be my secondary Master ? remember I told you we Skywalkers get two Masters because of our great potential ? so I will be trained by both.

I was bursting with the news when I got home. Mom hugged me very tightly and for some reason, she had a tears in her eyes and started whispering something about her baby growing up.

    Ugh.

I know mom loves me and all and of course I love her but?ugh. Just telling me would be enough. When she starts crying and calling me her baby, it?s all I can do not to complain.

I did that once, by the way. I won?t get into the specifics of my dad?s reaction, I?ll just say, I did it once.

    Da
