I still suspect that Nom Anor might have a trick or two up his sleeve.:)

I love how you shifted Sekot from Nen Yim to Vergere, and Telki's reaction.=D=

Thanks, I really wanted to try and get that 'other worldly' feel about it, Sekot is like nothing else after all :)

Note: A small update just to let you know I haven't forgotten about this one, I have just been out of the country for a bit (quite literally!) and haven't been able to do too much typing, it's all on paper though, including the final installment!

Now let's catch up with the twins ;)

Their destination was much like many of the shaper outposts and biological study areas that had been set up at various points all over the deep, forest-covered areas of Zonama with one vast difference; the sprawling, vast barren plain beyond the large plateau they now stood upon.
Tinuu had heard about the damaged and scorched hemisphere, rendered barren by the stress of natural disasters and storms that were wrought upon the land by a most unnatural cause - the world's ability to travel through hyperspace. But to look upon a fraction of that damage with your own eyes, brought home the sheer magnitude of the trials their homeworlds' seed had suffered just to be here now. It was nothing short of a miracle that Sekot was here, both her and Shaah could not allow any deviant group of extremists to threaten their new found peace here lest it destroy Sekot forever.

During the journey here, Shaah had been able to explain, albeit briefly, everything that had brought him to this point, from a crisis of faith to suspicion and finally, realisation. Tinuu had listened to it all with an expression akin to slack-faced surprise, for as much as he wished to tell his crèche brother that he was mistaken, that these traditionalists stood no chance at achieving their mysterious goals, the evidence was all around them to the contrary.
Their supervisors - if one could really call overbearing bullies that - warriors so intimidating stern and resolute, behaved unlike those who acted on new protocol, reminded Tinuu of his time among the slaves aboard slaveships bearing warriors as overseers. Cold, harsh and merciless, it hadn't taken many to keep the masses in line.

With that in mind, ad given their topic of conversation, he had taken Shaah's lead whenever they seemed to draw too much attention to themselves. It didn't take much.

When their talks had come to an eventual end, Tinuu knew he had made the correct decision in choosing to follow his twin.

The warriors had been quick to hurry them from the airship and out to the plateau, several of them left to keep a watch over all those extolled that had come with them, though by the looks that Shaah had shared with the few others at a glance, they were the only two willing ones here.
They and the strangely curious female, whim had approached them before boarding the airship. She had remained quiet and obedient throughout the entire journey and not once had she shown the timidness of her fellows - this to such a degree that let both twin's suspicious as to her motives for being here to begin with. What this was, and weather or not that motive conflicted with their own plans, remained to be seen. Shaah was not willing to take the chance either - they would watch each others backs, even among supposed peers.

The baking hot heat of the arid desert land had cooked the earth that remained, in cracked chunks of flaking clay beneath their feet. The unsettling crunch it gave as Tinuu shifted his weight from foot to foot, permeated the deathly silence of the scene around them. Nothing grew between the plateau and the horizon to the south, vast nothingness spread as far as they eye could see. It was as though the gods themselves had drawn a line on the ground beyond which, no living thing should ever exist, at least, to Tinuu it seemed that foreboding. They trod on forbidden ground.

Their overseers did not seem in any particular rush to usher them anywhere, perhaps content to give them time to weaken in the punishing heat of the day - a favoured tactic by warriors who wished to weed out the weak from the more hardy of shamed or slaves, common on those worlds that had been taken to be used as prisons and slave encampments. There were, however, few slaves save for those these warriors

Note: And here was I thinking I wouldn't have enough time to post this before I headed back to work! 'scuse the double post, but I felt I kind of owed readers something of a regular sized post, what with all the little bits I have been posting each month :)
Enjoy! That goes for the lurkers too ;)

"What brought you to this damutek, Qia Shul?"

Master shaper, Nehsta ku intoned curiously, her headdress curling at it's very tips as often it did when plucking nutrients from the organics rich air. She was standing only a few feet away, but already she had begun to look the one she questioned over with a sense of profound scrutiny, in that undeniably unsettling way shapers did. With their intimate knowledge of the Yuuzhan Vong anatomy, a Master Shaper could have picked apart their subject until they were little more than qah cells no longer with a sense of purpose or unity. It was certainly not a gaze anyone wished to be scrutinized on in this way, but Nehsta Ku's questioning was innocent enough, and the shamed one at whom the question was aimed, did well to keep her head bowed and posture subserviently unshaken - just as it should be, then, the shaper thought to herself.

This shamed one, was not the one she had plucked from the crowd earlier this cycle, he was already proving his use elsewhere, this one had been sent to her under her own initiative.
Or so the warriors that had escorted her here had claimed.
What interested Ku now, was to hear the reasons from the vua'sa's own jaws, and in doing so she hoped to divine some measure of the truth. Of course, the truth was always highly subjective and only those with a weaker mind allowed their body to betray them synapse by synapse...had this being been anything more than a shamed one, the Shaper might have had to reconsider her methods slightly.

"Speak freely, your words cannot displease me."

Qia Shul, a truly pitiful looking being, that had perhaps once been of the Intendant caste, pushed up from the floor with the use of both of her rail-thin arms, sinew beneath shifting in tenuous cords of effort as she turned her glassy gaze upon the shaper. A bold move, since Nehsta Ku had neither asked, nor suggested, that Shul could do so, but she did not wish to discourage this one, any sign of hostility might well cause her latest acquisition to clam up as tight as a sleeping chuk'a. Instead, Nehsta Ku controlled the subtle flail her tendrils had been about to express in open disapproval, belaying the harsh words that were on the tip of her vicious tongue in favour of encouraging silence.

Apparently heeding the quiescent nudge, the shamed female grasped her chance.

"I seek what you do, Great shaper. I seek the truth."

When Nehsta Ku did not interrupt, Qia seemed content to bumble on regardless, which was precisely what the shaper had been hoping she would do, she did not believe that last sentence so much in essence, but there had been an element of honesty in those words, piquing her interest as to what, exactly, that element was.

"I have travelled a great distance to seek you out on behalf of another, he said you would know when it was time."

The master shaper's headdress went deathly still, her expression neutral and unreadable as ever, the only subtle difference being that it was utterly devoid of emotion, despite the way her maa'it's shimmered brightly - a good indication that her mind was indeed working exceedingly well, picking over the details and deciphering them in what way she would. Better for the shamed one then, that she was sure this was the message she had been waiting for.
Extending a gnarled and multi-implemented hand toward Qia Shul as though she were about to help the other woman up, Nehsta Ku turned that seemingly caring motion into something else entirely, with the single crook of a finger, motioning for the pitiful creature to get to her feet.
Just as she had before, Shul moved with all the grace afforded to one of her despicable kind, making every slight movement appear a strain or some form of hardship - but beneath that skinny faca

And I totally intend to update this! I beg your forgiveness oh person of great Maggitude ;) I have been in something of a writing funk after hearing about all that hoohah, but I won't go there. I do, however, feel like updating this one today in draft, there's a whole chapter waiting in the wings after all.

"today" was like a month ago ... where is this whole chapter you talked about?
Did Nom Anor steal it after reading it and not liking what he read there since his treachery was found out? :p

Through one reason or another, it's still a work in progress, but I am working on it when I can. I have had a lot of freelance work lately that's going to see me stupidly busy, but I am trying to make time for this one. I want it finished as much as you!

But for arguments sake...i'll say Nom Anor stole it on the off chance we might actually all find out he's really alive ;)

and there I already wanted to faint because I thought there is the tiny chance of an update but now i can unfaint as it seems
is there such thing as unfaint?
maybe when you do a Nom Anor there might be the chance of unfainting?
