Everything on Crait was fantastic. Visually beautiful and all of the Luke stuff is phenomenal. His scene with Leia is great and the fight with Ren is great. Yeah, Crait is just really, really good. It shouldn't taken them so long to get there. By the time they did, I was kind of burned out already.

    I like TLJ.

OK, with that out of the way, and talking in terms of films only, even when including the Hobbit films, Middle-earth still wins. That's how consistently great the LOTR films were: not even the worst of the Hobbit films can drag the whole series down.

That said, Star Wars is the best of the rest. On balance, the series is still very good, and the highs are so good that it's worth enduring the lows.

The MCU, OTOH, is about as good as the average Star Wars film, but that's about all that can be said. There's no all-time great cinema tucked away in there. It's consistent, but it's also homogeneous.

The worst of the lot is the DCEU tied with Jurassic Park.

The shot where Luke reveals his parlor trick, and John Williams's score becomes so bombastic and haunting....I mean god damn that's a helluva scene.

It's a little unfair to separate Marvel onto movies-only when that isn't true for the others.

Except that the MCU has several differences from the comics universe (just look at MCU's version of Civil War and how they introduced the Maximoff twins) and and while based on the comics is definitely it's own universe separate from them at this point.

Eh, not really. The comics tend to follow whatever the movies are doing these days - altering character backstories (like the Maximoff twins) or dumping old characters and replacing them with movie versions (such as Nick Fury). We even had the X-Men comics - arguably one of the most popular subsets of the Marvel Universe - sidelined for years while Marvel made a failed attempt to promote the Inhumans in their place, all because they didn't have the movie rights to them.

The Hobbit trilogy had that same prequel trilogy quality we all had learned to love. Reminds me of another trilogy like it...

The Hobbit trilogy is the PT with better acting and five hours of padding.

I remember having seen the first two and, not being familiar with the sunken cost fallacy, thinking: now I have to see the third one. My god, what a drag that was. Speech. Battle. Speech. Battle. Over three hours of this. It was one of the most boring things I ever watched, and I sat through Matrix Revolutions.

I should have known it was not for me. There were wizards and elves involved.

Even presuming you liked the first three LOTR movies, the Hobbit films were meandering to bad. At BEST the first six LOTR films equal out in quality with the first six Star Wars films.

And the Disney-verse might not be great but it automatically pops Star Wars above that drek. Plus, the TV shows have been pretty good.
