I'm 36.... soon to be 37. My son 5 and daughter 2 (soon to be both 6 and 3) both like Star Wars...so I'm going to average us out (because he makes me feel younger) and say I'm 15 years old. HAHA!

So seriously.. what is the average age of you geeks??

Yeah man... me too. I remember being 8 years old watching it in a small theater in a hick town in Michigan. When you saw Vader spinning out at the end, you knew there would be another one. 1980 was even worse for me. I mean that was the worst (or best depending on which way you look at it) cliff hanger in the world for a 11 year old. Seriously... knowing I would be 14 when Jedi came out? That blew big time!!!

I'm pretty sure I'll be the oldest one here. I'm 55. Saw SW when it first came out in '77.

So far the average age of the SW fans posting here is 42 [face_laugh].

I'm 31. I have four boys (ages 9,6,4, and 3) who are all big Star Wars fans as well.

35, so I too am a 'first generation' SW fan. Naturally, that makes us better than all other SW fans :p

I like that - "first generation SW fan." Makes a good tagline :).

I'd buy one (or two, actually)! Anybody got a CafePress account? Or access to a printer who makes t-shirts?

I have one or two - It would be really easy.

We'd need a logo or something.

And yes, I was 11 when Star Wars came out - I even got the Sears empty pack I'm sure -

I even had the orginal action figures - you know, the ones that are worth enough to set up an IRA now? I think the dog chewed them up though....

So, when's your birthday? I might beat you for the most "mature" fan. I'm 55 but will turn 56 in August.

My love of Star Wars comes from a background of growing up enthralled by the space race and a diet of hokey sci-fi films (think actor in a gorilla suit with a garbage can head). Star Wars was revolutionary. To this day what amazes me the most is how they created the special effects. I know computer animation has made it so much easier but you have to take your hats off to the crew that worked miracles to create the first film.

There always has to be the rouge that throws off the whole average! I'm only 18. My birthday is in February.

Just text using the SW font wouldn't be enough, you think?

Not to offend anyone, but what does having kides have to do with your age?

I don't want to deal with copyright issues - but I had a couple ideas -

One could be "First generation Star Wars Fan" in Auberesh (sp) We'd have to get permission but I think it would be funny.

the other would be a cartoon version of Luke with an oxegon tank, white beard and weilding a cane instead of a lightsaber...

42.5. Yes, I saw SW on 5/25/77. At the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

It helps that my mom had a boyfriend who was a propmaster at Paramount, and that he was taken in enough by the buzz about the movie to want to go the first day.

On 5/26/77, I built my first lightsabre, with an old metal flashlight and plastic aquarium tubing.

No, I have not grown up. Follow the link in my .sig for proof.

The Aurebesh would be cute -- but including a translation in small print somewhere, yes?

The cartoon Luke is really a good idea. I would love to see this! Maybe with First Generation Star Wars Fan underneath in a regular font.

If you're really asking, I think you'll appreciate that posters are talking about the average age of all SW fans, and so Opal posted that her children are fans, too. And listed their ages, so they could be "added in," as it were. And so the average age so far is 28 :).

Why not combine the two ideas?

Man, I wish Tom Hodges or gator would pick up on this... (Hint boys, if you're reading) - maybe they could do it - or hell, I might do a mock up today and post it...

Yes, this is what I should have said, didn't put it very well. Would like to see your mock-ups!
