Recently I have been very bad with using a brush or a pencil. Sigh!


Was not very helpful that my elder brother told me: "You can only copy stuff and have no ideas on your own! Serves you right that you never become famous!"

It is not about being famous... or being brilliant...

Actually it is about expressing myself through the things that I do.

Anyway, he did catapult me into a rather gloomy mood since...

I was already hurting due to all the private stuff and job stuff going on this month...

Ah well, I cannot be a brilliant scientist like him who earns mountains of money!

So I did this silly, little painting, inspired by a comic and something that I love since I am a little child.

Courage is indeed posting it anyway!

 

Like I said in WNU, I really love that unicorn!!

 

Then I will try to finish it as soon as possible.

I should feel ashamed if it is not complete by the time Skiara comes back to us.

Dear bird & dear NY, thanks for your kind & positive feedback.

Right now it is rather difficult looking for a new job position with the schools being closed down for the summer, but I do my best anyway.

Just a pity that I could not stay on with the cuts they had to make with their staff. Due to falling student numbers everybody with a time contract had to go. Had been in this situation before last summer.

Well I could go on moaning like an Irish banshee or I can try to make the best of it: read teacher books, listening to music, re-inventing myself & go painting in between.

I already did a lot of writing.

For this week I am aflame with a lot of art ideas. I even want to visit somebody that I know in the gallery she works at each time she needs a break from cleaning the teeth of other people.

So, dear bird & dear NY, expect some surprises growing in this garden at least at the end of this week.

 

I love the fox and the hound. I used to read it to my kids.

What ´ya think about my attempt to do Lucien?

Once Lucien is nominated for best villain, I thought I give it a try and indeed tried to do Jonathan Rhys Meyers with water colours.

But I am actually not that satisfied. Perhaps Jonathan Rhys Meyers is too sexy as King Henry the VII. Or as my husband said: "Of course you will not be satisfied making a drawing of Lucien straight away. He is in your head for a while now.You have your own high standards. He is arrogant and sometimes even cruel, yet sweet in unexpected moments. His emotions are constantly in uproar. Not only due to the Dark Side, but also due to his own complex code of honour."

Well, I decided to post my meek attempt anyway.

 

He should be looking good and Rhys Meyers is the right one. Sexy and with an undertone of darkness.

 

That actor even makes a jolly good young Lucien. Have you ever seen "Gomenghast", sweet bird? And the character Steerpike in it?

Even tried to draw that last night with markers, but I am not still utterly convinced. Look:

My Sionnach seems more right, even though she does not look exactly like Karen Gillan who plays Amy Pond in the Doctor Who series. Perhaps I thought too much about Ziyi Zhang, who played in "House of Flying Daggers" & "Memoirs of a Geisha". And of Leetha, a healer and main charcater from the "Elf Quest" comic series by Richard & Wedy Pini.

She wears one of that plain dresses that folk wear in the Mongolian warp-dresses. This would be more her style because she grew up in the Western Plains. Meeting Draíocht and of course Lucien changes her dress style later on.
