Hello everyone! This is a sock for VaderLVR64, and I've recently become fascinated with the character of Bail Organa. As someone pointed out (Gabri_Jade) he doesn't get much time on the fan fic boards, and we never even saw his face in the OT!

If Bail hadn't died on Alderaan, I think he definitely would have had a major role in the Rebellion. He and Mon Mothma would have been the figureheads of the Alliance. I also think it's a possibility that Bail could have been the first Chief of State of the New Republic.

As for changing the lives of Luke and Leia...I hope he'd tell them they're brother and sister before Hoth and the med center scene...

Or perhaps walked in at that moment, cleared his throat and said "Uh, I think there's something you kids should know..."

 

This is a great idea.

IMO he'd head up the Rebellion yes. But as far as Luke and Leia. I think that unless they planned on pursuing a personal relationship with each other that he'd refrain from telling them they were twins.

The only reason I would think that is because Vader is dangerous and so is the Emperor. If Luke and Leia knew, it would mean that the Emperor could find out. Some secrets are better kept until absolutely necessary.

Not much really. In the OT we don't see Mon Mothma doing so much except for heading meeting, and sort of being like the CEO of a company. However, if Bail did wind up becoming the first Chief of State, the Rebellion might have been more respected because Bail seems to have been a more well known figure to the general public. Also, if Mon Mothma had been Bail's sort of second-in-command like Leia had become Mon Mothma, it would have freed up Leia's time so she would have been able to spend more time with Jaina, Jacen and Anakin, preventing much jealousy on Jaina's part from happening. Assuming, of course, that the rest of the EU would continue on as it did.

Of course, Luke and Leia would also now be able to know much more about their mother and father, and Bail would be able to tell Luke more about the way the old Order worked.

Let the plot bunnies start breeding!

I don't think he would have joined the Rebellion - not openly, anyway. Keep in mind, this is a man who raised his daughter to be a Rebel and a Senator. I doubt he'd throw away all he'd worked for in a fit of rage and despair.

I see him on Coruscant during the course of the OT, doing his part to secretly help the Rebels without blowing his cover. He might even denounce Leia as a traitor and a terrorist just to throw off suspicions.

I think that Bail Organa would have been like Rieekan in taking as active a part in the Rebellion as possible. I mean, he's the guy, when he saw the Jedi Order under attack, went to fight for them. While he's an administrative type by training and occupation, I can see him like Leia. I think she got it from Bail as much as her parents. As for the whole L/L, I think he would have told them early on and seen to it that they both were aware of what they could learn from Yoda.

 

I'd bet that Garm bel Iblis would've stayed in the Rebellion if Bail hadn't died ? a lot of stuff I've read (official info, not fanfic ) says that Organa was a mediating influence for the other two? that he kept them together.

By that point I think the cat would have been out of the bag, so to speak. Alderaan would be found out as a Rebel Alliance planet and their would have been battles around it. Bail would have to go with the leaders of the Alliance.

As for Luke and Leia? I bet he would have noticed Luke oogling her and put a stop to that.

 

Sure! I'd love to see Breha discussed here. If we get enough interest, we can create her own thread.

 

I'd love to see Breha in here--she appeared for all of 30 seconds in the movie, yet was such an important intertrilogy character. And I agree that Bel Iblis and Mon Mothma were balanced by Organa.

 

I'd like to see some Breha too. In researching for a fic I read somewhere that she was the Ministry of Education. I find that entirely fascinating that she was more than the face on EPIII.

Mmmm, for a start (and because my mind is obviously fixed on it ) Han's life would have been much more complicated with Leia's father around... Do you think Bail would have allowed any guy to behave around his daughter like Han did before Bespin? I don't think so. Al least, he would have had a nice man-to-man conversation with the smuggler.

 

Breha was the Ministry of Education of education on Alderaan, correct? I think I remember reading something along those lines in the novelization of RotJ.

I can just imagine Bail meeting Han for the first time! I think he wouldn't have approved of Han or his lifestyle (all that smuggling spice) at first, but as Han stuck with the Rebellion and the more he got to know him as a person, Bail would have liked him.

 

Breha... she's Bail's wife isn't she? Just want to make sure because she appears without a name in the movie.

If Bail had survived I don't think he'd admit L/L's connection for fear of the Emperor discovering about Leia. She was probably everything to him and having her connected to a Skywalker would probably frighten him into silence.

Now after the Emperor died it would be safe to admit it, but by then Luke was an adult. He wouldn't need a father then. He would, IMO, accept Bail as a friend, having raised his sister into the fine woman she was and all.

Nice point! And Leia was in enough danger with Vader already knowing about her role in the Alliance.

I think Bail would've tried, but I don't think it would've worked out so well. Bail would've probably tried to connect to Luke through teaching him and with Luke's personality the way it was then, he wouldn't have had the patience to sit through lessons in politics. I can just picture him sitting in a lesson thinking, "He's a nice guy and all, but this stuff is boring. And what does it have to do with defeating the Empire anyway?"

Also, Luke would probably feel awkward around Bail anyway. He'd probably have so many questions to ask about Ben and his father but would be too nervous to ask such an important man with so many things on his hands. And even if he did ask, Bail probably would beat around the bush with an answer because he wouldn't want to reveal too much to Luke, and Luke would just get frusterated.

Yes, there are way too many probablies and words like that but I'm just throughing out what seems like logical assumptions to me.
