Today's results are not looking ideal for chaos.

Stanton continues to rake and Judges’ pinky is just fine.

 

2 innings later Stanton hits what would normally be a fly out with such insane velocity that a major league fielder couldn't catch up to make the catch. Nuts. The hype is real right now, hope it continues.

On review, it was misjudged and should have been caught. Still a double. Jays might be mailing this one in at this point. Regroup and try harder for the next game.The season's not over, Red Sox lost to the Os.

Man if the Cardinals run the table and win the World Series that might have to be the most legendary run in sports history.

I cannot comprehend how this is humanly possible.

 

As much as it makes me nauseous on so many levels... I'm all in on the Cardinals this year if it means Goldschmidt gets a ring.

There were 16 MLB games last night. The road team went a combined 1-15. The one being the New York Yankees.

 

And I think I'd prefer the Cards play the Dodgers in the WC game. Anything can happen in that 1 game play-in, win it vs the Dodgers and you get the still tough Giants, but the Cards took 4 out of 6 from them this season (and while they were still scuffling along). If you get the Dodgers in the NLDS, you get to face that "all-world" pitching staff. I think I'll skip potentially facing Scherzer twice.
So, 17 wins down, 17 more to go!

 

Even with the seeming inevitability of playing the Cardinals, I can't stand the calls among family & friends that the current one-game WC format is unfair to the Dodgers. bull****. You've got to make the WC, well, a bit wild in order to 1) differentiate it from the usual playoffs and 2) give a real great incentive/payoff to winning the division; you make the WC a best 2 of 3, then it's just another hum-drum playoff round. The current playoff format is near perfect (I'd like to see the LCS' go back to a best of 5), so I'd loathe to see it tinkered once again. Just because the Dodgers/Giants are 100+ game winners this season doesn't mean, obviously, that this'll happen every season; you'll have your years of 85-95 win teams as the Wild Cards.

That's what I don't get. The point was to make winning the division matter, this is one of the reasons we have the current format. But they're changing up the format likely next year anyway (presumably going to 14 teams, but we'll see).

Scherzer had his first bad Dodger start tonight. With only 4 games left obviously he'll be the one to start the Wild Card game.

 

Hell of a win tonight, but naturally the Giants also win,1-0.

 

Rays clinched the top spot in the AL playoffs and earned a franchise record for wins in a season.
