Encore is really buggy and can be frustrating, but with patience (and a little luck) you can get great results.

Well, I'm pretty happy with Click to DVD, which came with my XP. I find it extremely easy to use. My only complaint is that you can't import your own background image/music; you can only use the generic ones that come with it. I would like to eventually get a better one with more options, though, but for what I currently need, it gets the job done. :)

i just got my burner and Encore so i am learning that. The post (a couple post infront of me) that said the bad things about it scares me now.

    No really, i'm scared.

LOL...don't worry about it. It is the first version so not everything will work perfectly. But believe me, you can do alot with it and customize some awesome menus. Just be patient and you'll love it.

The top software would be Adobe Encore--basically you can do whatever you see on the DVD's you buy from the store...different sound tracks for different encodings. it's nice!

My second choice would be DVD Architect from Sonic Foundry. The sofware is easy to learn, and makes nice copies--yet you do not have as many features as Encore.

    Cheers!

If you?re on the Mac Platform you have to go with DVD Studio Pro 2. It?s the best.

Yes, but it is not like After Effects. Just use the manual, it explains most of it.

Encore is great. I'd used several programs, getting crappy quality, and I had no flexibility. Encore, however, gives me everything I want. I'm still learning how to do more complex things, as I've only put together one full DVD project so far. But it is extremely easy to quickly get everything ordered, linked, and pieced together for a simple project. I haven't had any problems with it being "buggy," but the complex aspects of it have a steep learning curve. But it's very easy to learn how to do the most basic projects.

If you're using Encore, there's a new update here that fixes several of the bugs of version 1.0.

DVDit, which comes with Premiere when you purchase it (a gasp from the crowd), works wonderfully for me.

You're the first person I've ever heard praise DVDIt, JMill.

On the Apple side, iDVD is grand and DVD Studio Pro sets the standard.

On the PC side, I'd have to go with Encore.

More info for you can be seen at the DVDRHELP Website. For all your DVD Burning needs.

Does anyone here work with Pinnacle's Impression DVD? Unfortunately that's what we have, and though we are able to basically get it to do everything we want and get professional looking DVDs, but that is simply for the fact that we do every single thing in After Effects and Photoshop and import it as an m2v encoded using bbMPEG. There are problems that we have with pixel aspect interpretations and little target or link matters that just plain don't work sometimes. I ask because I wanted to see if anyone else who may work on this program found better ways to get around it. Bottom line is I would not recommend Pinnacle Impression DVD Pro. You can't even encode in the program unless you import Type 2 DV AVIs, and then it looks terrible. Now you people may be asking why were we stupid enough to buy this? Well I have to take this opportunity to defend ourselves by saying that we researched into the matter and made our purchase a year ago, which was far before Encore was released (which we would have gone with without question). We want to upgrade to Encore, but we don't have XP, so as of now we can't.

I was using DVD Architect but I just discovered DVD Lab by Mediachance. http://www.mediachance.com/dvdlab/ It allows me to do transitions inbetween menu screens amongst other cool features.
