Best Finale and End Credits

It's worth noting that the Imperial March wasn't originally part of that scene. The original cue has never been released (a snipped is heard in one of the documentaries). Lucas requested the use of the Imperial March and Williams wrote the new version.
The best part of it for me is the small hint of the Love theme in the trumpets in the middle of the march, in a military fashion.

 

Yep, David Collins did a nice segment on that on the Star Wars Oxygen/RFR podcast. And I agree, the marcato trumpet obbligato in that cue is killer.

 

Yeah, it's pretty funny if you think about it that way.

 

Throne Room/End Credits. Throne Room is so triumphant and feel-good and transitions (in my opinion) the most seamlessly into the end credits.

Also, I love any end credits that has that one rise. The one between the "Rebel Blockade Runner" reprise and the second "Main Theme" reprise. Always gives me chills. Here's for reference (from 2:13 to 2:23):

 

If the TPM ended with QGJs funeral that would've been my all time favorite SW ending. But I'll go with empire

 

Always liked Rebel Fleet and ANH myself.

 

This! A New Hope/End Credits had so much potential but the transition from the Force theme to the end credits suite just kills it for me. It lacks the care and satisfying resolution that the AOTC transition had. Maybe if the intro of the ROTS end credits suite were changed to the key of G major it would have worked, but as it is now you can tell they were two separate recordings mixed together.

 

The Victory Celebration has always been one of my favorite moments of the Saga.

 

I chose ESB, but the truth is they were all outstanding. The special edition ROTJ improved a lot once they got rid of the silly Ewok song. In my mind that worked to trivialize the actual climax of the trilogy.
Of course, ANH's end title was the end title that started them all, so that was also fantastic.
Who am I kidding?! They were all great!

 

I'll be the first to say A New Hope and End Credits. Though with a new movie coming out, I always felt that the way Williams brought everything full circle for that end credits suite was a perfect way to cap off the Saga. You get the Battle of the Heroes that dominated Episode III, but also the hope of Leia's theme and the Throne room Theme from ANH, not to mention you get a soft version of Luke's theme.

 

It has to be EMPIRE for me, not just because it has “The Imperial March” but also because I love the more melancholy, bittersweet transition to the rousing main theme. It lacks the triumphant bombast of the first movie (which I love), but it’s somehow more evocative.

 

For me, it's AOTC. It's the End Titles I listen to most often, and at rather loud volumes.

 

Do you mean the section before the credits?

Because I found an extended version with some unreleased sections:

 

Victory Celebration. Love it, love it, love it.

 

Yeah I desperately want the full version with the Emperor's theme before the female soloist.

 

AOTC.. the score is so powerful and epic

 

Same. A clear improvement from Yub Nub.

For the poll though I voted for The Rebel Fleet/End Title.

 

episode 1, 3, 6 are all tied for me

 

I'm going with ANH, provided it's the theatrical arrangement, rather than the concert version.

 

The Throne Room music is a hard top for me, although I do love Victory Celebration and Augie's Great Municipal Band.

 

Love the ending to episode 1 because it's so happy but you know a long adventure awaits.
The ending to episode 3 is brilliant and really connects the 2 trilogies.
The ending to episode 4 is awesome basically because of the epic and upbeat music.
And the ending to episode 6 is bittersweet. It's great to see the celebration of the different planets and then Endor and everyone living happily ever after (so we think) but it also is an emotional ending as the saga is over. If I had to pick my favorite ending it would be episode 6's by a slim margin.

 

Gotta be ESB for me, though it's a very, very close race. For me, the winner is the transition during the credits from Yoda's theme into the Imperial March...that last soaring note and then BAM! the percussion of the march kicks in.

 

I have a soft spot for Across the Stars, so I'll go with the finale of AotC. The Imperial March accompanying the deployment of the Clone army morphs into the epic part of Across the Stars as we see Anakin and Padme getting married. And then we hear the full version of Across the Stars in the Credits. I love it.

But really, all (now 7) ending scores are great and very fitting story-wise.

 

It's my least favorite of the saga, but TFA by far for this!
