Dear Diary,

It's amazing how fast a year goes by isn't it. Your a year older, a year stronger, and hopefully a year smarter. (It might suprise you, but it actually reverses with some people.)

General Therrix is inviting us to his personal vessel tonight to bring in the New year. It's still suprising that he's inviting us. We're just a bunch of pilots, well, I take it back. We're just a bunch of damn good pilots.

But I think this is going to be pretty enjoyable, as long as Ajax keeps his libido in his pants, things won't get too wild.

It's pretty exciting though, it won't be a new year this time, but a new Millenium! Only a few billion individuals get to witness the birth of a new millenium. I consider myself very lucky.

Hopefully this will bring the beginning of a promising New Age for us. A fun one too.

Dear Diary,

Sweet Mother, a new Millenium! Wow, I can't stop shaking. I'm so glad this diary self-erases bad writing.

This is incredible, not only do I get to see the New Year, which is fun enough to begin with, I get to do it with all my friends on the general's personal vessel, overlooking Courascant.

Two Words:

Freakin Awesome!

This is going to be the best year of my life, I can feel it. This year has been fun don't get me wrong. I mean I saved Tatooine from the hutts, got to meet a jedi, and got Ajax to admit I was a better lady-killer than him. That alone is enough to make me happy.

Oh boy, well, better get ready. I'm gonna have me some fun tonight.

Dear Diary,

Ah, New Years Eve. The death of one good year, the birth of another. What an occasion.
The only time when death is an enjoyable thing. People never really pause to think about the fact that a year can die. All they think about is the new possibilities the next year has to offer.

Therefore I have come up with a short list of events from 2999 that have stood out in my mind.


1. I found out you light the match before you turn on the gas.

2. Rolyat Skcih is the best Courascant Idol ever! (Do I make you proud?!)

3. If you can't get drunk, if you can't get high, go to an oxygen bar.

4. A fresher, is not the same as a refresher. God no!

5. If it's legal, go for it.
If it's illegal, run for it.


I can only hope that the year 3000 gives me more pleasant memories.

Dear Diary,

Talon squadron has gone through a lot in the past several months. We saved Tatooine from Hutt corruption, got an official ceremony from the jedi council themselves, and got Ajax to go celebist for one whole week. That's a ground-breaking event in itself. I still owe him 5 credits.

We're going to go the General Therrix's private ship in a few minutes, so I thought I'd jot down this note just before I go. Who knows, maybe this will be the best day of my life, And I can look at this lat

Dear Log,

I suppose I'm supposed to be happy for this new Millenium right? Kick up my heels and ring in the festives. New chances, new beginnings, new opportunities right?

Not so, not even close.

What difference should it make that tommorrow is a new year? Is the year 3000 covered in some kind of liquid coating of luck, fortune, and happiness? No, it sure wasn't in 2998 or 2999, why should it be any different because this year has three zeros?

None. None at all.

But for the sake of my squad-mates, I'll keep an even face and not reveal my real thoughts. Who knows, I might even smile tonight. I might.

The Ladykiller

General Derrick Therrix stood in the docking bay, personaly observing the arrival of Talon Squadron's sleek, impressive V-Wings slide into their specifivc landing strips their outer wings folding upward at just the right times, with supreme efficiency and agility. It made him wish all soldiers were as skilled as those of Talon Squadron.

Can't win em all I suppose. Therrix thought.

He was an impresive looking man, who perfectly fit the part of general. Good Posture, square jawed, a well trimmed hair-cut, roughly handsome too, however aged. He had recently reached a weary 60, though one wouldn't know it by looking at him, which was something of a suprise. Men in high ranking positions tended to show their age more quickly then others due to the daily stress of their positions, yet Therrix always managed to keep a never-fading sense of optimism surrounding him. It proved to be the source of his many great accomplishments and victories defining his life, both on the battlefield and off.

He watched the lead V-wing, bathed in distinctive lines of gold(the others in red) open the cockpit. The crew hurried their flight ladders so that Dominic could safely descend to the floor. Dominic reminded the general a lot of himself, he had the same unfailable sense of can-do attitude he had and still did. In fact, almost everyone in Talon Squadron had a bit of Therrix's personality. Dominic's leadership, Sylvester's youthful attitude (His wife often described Therrix as a child playing army), Alex's masterful blend of sarcasm and philosophic views, Sera's compassion, and during his younger days, Ajax's undeniable success with women.

Dominic stepped out of the cockpit, removing his helmet to reveal the slightly lengthy gold hair on his head.

"You really should consider cutting it Dominic, the military frowns upon long hair," Therrix said.

"Hair for men can never exceed 6 inches when piloting a fighter, so as long as it's out of the way. Article 21B of the Republic Airforce rulebook," Dominic said monotone, like a student in the back of the class would if called upon by a teacher. Then he smiled, " surely the man in charge of the entire army of the Republic would know that, right?"

" I'll measure it later," Therrix said, with equal monotone delivery," Come down here so I can give you a better welcome."

Dominic obliged, the rest of the cockpits opening at once. It reminded Therrix of a well oiled machine, operating with perfect control and manuverability. This was why he invited Talon squadron to be with him on the eve of the old millenium. It was men and women like these who let him know he was doing his job right. He enjoyed Talon squadron, because they were the best soldiers he ever knew. Although most would have different opinions, Therrix knew that these seven soldiers were truley the best the republic had too offer. They were the greatest, most famous squadron in the galaxy, and they damn well deserved it. He was honored to have them by his side on this day, except a romantic night with his wife, he wouldn't have it any other way.

They descended from their flight-ladders, and Therrix watched as they mad their way towards him.

"Welcome to The Ladykiller,

 

Wow! your brave the whole squad. Good start look forward to more.

 

What a cast!

Dominic shook his head, "didn't even cross my mind." He smiled. Suddenly he looked at the chrono by the wall," Your right, only 40 more minutes, we better head to the bridge no-"

Sera put a slender finger to his lips," No hurry, Dom. Not for now anyway, just... sit here a moment, with me?" she asked, a small smile to her mouth," Like old times?"

Dominic shook his head, not to say no, only a fool would say no to Sera, but in rememberance of those old times," Of course, for old times..."

"Promise?"

Dominic sat down beside her, stoking her beautiful shimmering hair.

"What am I, a liar?"

"So what do you say gorgeous, marry me?"

"If I told you no 3 years ago, and told you the same thing again after every time we've met, what makes you think that this day is going to be any different from the other 64 something days you've asked me this same question?" Teresa said, the wife of General Therrix.

She was a tall, dark skinned beauty, unlike the elderly wives of most old generals. She was at least a good 30 years old, compared to Therrix's 60. It amazed Ajax how anyone so amazingly radiant could fall for a man who was completley respectable, but so old. It was the fact that Teresa was not shallow, that made Ajax appreciate her a lot more than most of the women he met on his missions, which made him want her more.

"It's the new year sweetheart," Ajax said, arms folded behind his head sitting in the general's armchair, facing the sweet sensual form of Teresa Madine Therrix rather than the view of Courascant,"new year brings new opportunities, new beginnings-"

"New rejections," Teresa chimed in.

Ajax's trademark half-smile stayed the same, not suprised in the least,"new rejections yes. But I think you'll realize with time, judging by the look of your flawless feminine features, you still got plenty of time, that I'm naturally, realisticly, and just common sense that I am and always will be the better choice between me and your army buddy," Ajax said arms now folded across his chest. In the spectator's seats, far from the heat of the actiob, Sly and Peris were watching the battle of the sexes. Their interests ranging from extreme to minimal.

Teresa was sitting in her own chair, facing Ajax, "well, perhaps I can have my 'army buddy' come on down here," she said slowly and carefully," and tell you himself how he feels, when someone puts him on second pedestal. My husband tends to not like that at all, and he tends to get a bit...overreactive."

Now Ajax's face began to crumble, and there were several comments from the peanut gallery as Sly began to whisper taunts into Alex's ear. (Are you gonna take that? From a girl? I thought you were the Lady's man)

"Well," Ajax began,".......perhaps I should, uh, shut up so that won't happen then right?" He had nothing, he would of fought for Teresa's affections till the end, and he knew he could do it. But when your the general's wife, you got certain perks, and he didn't want to feel the fist end's of those perks.

Teresa smiled, a facial expression that only intensified Ajax's animal lust. She got up, and moved towards Ajax's chair, her movements intentionally alluring. She bent down towards Ajax's giving off a slight smirk in his ear.

"If Derrick was in this seat, if a man was in this seat. He wouldn't let anything stand in his way, anything. That's why I'd chose him," she whispered. She stodd up and walked off towards the bridge door. The spectators stand erupted in applause as Sly clapped his hands vigourously for the winning side.

The bridge door opened, and the General Therrix came striding into the room, one glance towards his wife's face told him everything.

"Ajax, please stop hitting on my wife...again."

Ajax shrugged his shoulders, smiled, and raised his hands as if to say What can I say?

"And that's my chair," he said.

"Hey 'army buddy'," Teresa cooed, and Therrix took her slender waist in one arm and escorted her to the bridge window. Ajax got out of his chair and shuffled towards the other end of the room. The end that was farthest away from Sly.

Several minutes later, the doors opened again, and in flowed Dominic and Sera.

"Ah Dominic, I was worrying that you wouldn't be here to welcome in the new millenium. Sera, I'm glad you didn't keep Dominic busy until after 12:00, very profesional," Therrix said.

Dominic turned his head away from Therrix, slightly red.

And it was nice how the squadron was able to watch Coruscant light up on New Years from the bridge...that must be quite the sight.
