Lol, I always do that. I'm too impatient to let programs start up every time I want them. :p

I started lurking around 3SA around February or March of 2004 to get my Episode III fix. Can't believe it took me almost 9 years to permanently join up.

You know I was vaguely sympathetic at first (being a dumb kid back when TPM came out I had to have it spelled out to me by a side by side comparison of their photos) but then the last posts were in, like, 2008. Yowza.

During the movie I thought that Palpatine was going to become Sidious' next apprentice after Maul's death, but then I saw during the credits that Ian McDiarmid played both characters and that was it.

He was busy. At least he used the forum to work out stuff he already knew the answer to.

I'm jealous of you people actually having screenshots from way back then. I guess most people don't suffer from terminal deletion syndrome. I didn't even know what the internet was when the Phantom Menace came out. Though I did see it at cinema and loved it muchly. My mom and I used to make "How Wude" jokes for quite a while after.

I remember clearly to this day how I figured it out myself. I had toys of Palpatine and hologram Darth Sidious. One day I looked at them side by side and I just... knew. :p

I read the ROTJ novelization 6,281 times in the summer of 1983. In it, we learn that the Emperor's name is Palpatine. In 1999 I didn't even have to see that Ian McDiarmid played both Senator Palpatine and Darth Sideous. The name was enough for me.

Actually, the emperor's identification as Senator Palpatine dates back the prologue of the novelization Star Wars, From The Adventures of Luke Skywalker, so that was spoiled before any of the movies came out.

I mean, almost everyone knew that the Emperor was called Palpatine. Who Sidious was? That was the mystery. At least for the people in the thread.

I will admit it probably took me far too long to figure it out than it should have. I had a friend who had figured it out before me and kept bugging me about the secret. "Have you figured it out yet? Have you figured it out yet?" It really got on my nerves cause I had no idea what he meant. Then one day it just clicked.

I read the kids ROTJ novelization in the late 80s not knowing Star Wars was a movie (I was a sheltered kid). Halfway through the book I saw pictures from the movie and only then realized. Years later I discovered R2D2 and C-3PO were how you spelled their names because in the book it was spelled out.

I once asked "What is so great about Aurra Sing?" I was shot down and told 'you wait! These movies will show you!' They didn't.
