    Hi there is going to be a star wars themed party at the pub where i work on the opening weekend of ROTS. Tell as many people as you can.... see my site for details www.leafspage.com...

    Secondly, do any of you fancy writing an article on being gay/leasbiam/bisexual/transgender and a starwars fan?

    Here's hping for some good responses... PS, my site doesn't run in firefox, so appologies to any ne with that browser. Runs fine in most other browsers though.

    Yes please... my site isn't just for Gay people.. although because there is an promo for the gay bar i work in on it, most people seem to be getting the idea it's a gay site. may look at ways of attracting more people... any ideas?

    Best bet would be to re-write the html/css. I don't have any microsoft-engine browsers, so the site looks terrible no matter what I use. Given that most people use firefox at home these days...

    The party looks like fun, though - do you have to be gay-blt (bi, les, trans) to go?

    Looked at leafspage.com using Firefox 1.0.1; looks fine.

    Very nice layout, so rather than apologising, give yourself a pat on the back. :)

    S-I-5

    PS. I looked at the source code and the CSS looks a lot more complicated that your average human (eg. me) would come up with, so I'm willing to bet software (Word? Dreamweaver?) was used to create it, so Leaf might not know how to affect changes...

    The css is mostly about absolute positioning for the images etc. Not the best way of doing it, imo - but I guess most people have access to a microsoft browser... I'm just not a big fan of M$ (see the sig :p)

    Are you listed with Google etc?

    sorry for the slow response - of course you don't have to be gay / bi etc to come to the party... at the end of the day, it's a community pub, and we make everyone welcome, and have equal gay / staright mix drink there. The party should be good fum.... all the staff and most of the customers are looking forward to it. And it's now gonna be a fundraiser for childline too!

    You are banmg on the money - i am using an old version of serif pagebuilder to make the site, as i have NO html experience. thanx for the compliment, and beig so understanding. I have now added a box saying what browsers to use.

    Hi - do you know of any software packages that work in firefox? Would like to get this licked, as fire fox users seem to be the main critics .

    Ok.... this is a bad thread... wish i had included you staright guys on the initial titelhere, as "the rose" is a community pub that is gay and staright friendly.... assumed the worst, and perhaps shouldn't have done... in retrospect i now know i shouldn't have presumed!!! so sorry to you gay friendly straight guys!

    I always hand-code html & css, never used any software. I think Dreamweaver is meant to be the best software that'll do it for you. I've got a raging headache right now, but I'll take a closer look at your css & see if I can come up with an easy solution to make it work well for all browsers.

    If I can make it to the party, I'll go - sounds like a lot of fun :D

    Ok - headache free, taken a look at the CSS. I'm really not understanding the .textregion stuff. The graphics are all positioned absolutely (the CSS tells the browser exactly where to put them on the page in terms of pixels) but there's no absolute positioning of the text. As the text-positioning is left wooly, different browsers do different things with it. The software you used looks like it's designed to only work with IE, given some of the IE-peculiar 'lazy' coding.

    Personally, I'd have used tables: each cell with its own graphic background with border. To have pictures within cells that have text to the right, I'd have used 'float' for the images in CSS... something like this:

    html:
    <td class="celltype1">
    <p><img src="/relative_image_location" alt="whatever" height="whatever" width="whatever" class="leftfloat" />Whatever text you want to show up to the right of the image within the cell background, remember to use padding so the text doesn't come too close to the borders in your background image</p>
    </td>

    CSS:

    .celltype1 {
    background-image: url (/relative location of the background .gif for table cells of that size);
    background-color: #000000;
    [whatever other qualities you want to give table cells of that size];
    }

    .leftfloat { float : left; padding-right : 3px; }

    If you're not into hand-coding, though, your best bet is probably to get hold of a copy of Dreamweaver and design with that. I stopped by the site at work today - looks great through Internet Explorer!

    I have no idea, but I bet Stormtrooper_fan does. If I can make it, I'll wear something outrageous & probably bring a couple of friends from work
