CE16 Cantina bash at O2 arena - July 14

I'm 99% sure I know who the band is, if people want me to say, but I wouldn't expect everyone to know them, and that Q list of bands to see was from over a decade ago.

 

Who do you think it will be then?

 

Ash. They fit the bill, huge Star Wars fans (an early b-side was the cantina band song), won an ivor novello award, have released 9 albums (6 studio, 2 comps & a live album), and worked with LucasArts on a video game soundtrack. While they're still going they were most well known in the late 90s early 00's, if you like energetic melodic indie-punk check them out.

 

Yup, you where right in your first comment. Speaking for myself, I have no immediate recollection of hearing about a band named "Ash" before. Then again I've never been one for "popular" music

 

The Spice Girls are going to be there?

 

Ha! Jed is one of my best friends, I've known his for about 15 years and he never ceases to amaze and surprise me. I'll get the skinny on this and report back when I'm allowed to but I reckon it's gonna be pretty fun and everyone should get a ticket to this!

 

Brooklyn Bowl seams like a fun place. I suck at bowling, but I'd try if the lanes are open!

 

I listened to a podcast interview with the organisers the other day and it sounds like it's going to be fun. Capacity of around 1,000, with the restaurant tables removed. Apparently the 501st will be there hassling patrons for ID etc, and they will have guests onstage between the bands, mostly minor players like people who have been stormtroopers or aliens in Maz's Cantina, but some they can't announce until Celebration announces them. I'm really looking forward to this.

 

They are gonna open up for ordering a lane for bowling tomorrow. Anyone wanna bowl? (I suck at it, but it's fun!)

 

I enjoy bowling, I'm up for it if others are.
But booking won't be easy, or cheap

Yeah guys, are we still trying to do this? I believe you have a view of the stage area while bowling, from the pics of the venue I've saw so I'm not worried about missing the concert.

Had a great time at the show, Darth Elvis were brilliant, and it was great to see Ash again they fought back some good memories of the late 90s for me.

 

Did they do their rare Star Wars numbers?

 

They opened with their Cantina band cover, other than that just a greatest hits set really. They did extend the breakdown in Kung-fu during with Mark Hamilton's daughter came on dressed as Rey and fought Mark who had Kylo mask on.
