Discussion Canto Bight: The new Coruscant?

One thing that that TLJ makes clear is that the Star Wars Galaxy has a new centre of power.

A new stage for the Galaxy's tales of untrigue, corruption, and shadowy influence.

A city that embodies these glamorous, beguiling, intoxicating, yet ultimately malignant qualities more effectively than Lucas' contribution, the city planet Coruscant was able to.

Johnson's creation presents Star Wars with a new and unique opportunity to explore the seedy underbelly of power. A stage for the kind of social commentary that Lucas had toyed with, but was never able to fully explore, due to the limitations of his city planet concept.

Johnson's gift to us is a potentially rich seam of future stories focused on the corruptive nature of power.

What could be more Star Wars than that?
