I'm only 19, so a lot of celebrity deaths have kind of washed over me - most simply haven't had time to work their way into my psyche. But this, for the first time, triggered a real emotional response from me beyond a lamentation of lost talent. Fisher was a tremendous human being. Episode VIII will be watched with her memory in my mind. .......

Soon will you rest. Yes, forever sleep. Earned it you have... Strong are you with the Force, but not that strong. Twilight is upon you, and soon, night must fall. That is the way of things. The way of the Force.

We will miss you Carrie =((

Like Christopher Lee I always thought Carrie Fisher would live forever. I was completely shocked and saddened by the news of the actress who played one of my favorite female characters passing away.

    May you rest in peace.

Was looking for a headline thread, a post TFN, but I found this one------today not a good day, to many others Carrie Fisher will not mean anything except from legacy, but to US she remains and always will be everything, I got my attitude from Princess Leia, first female in the movies I saw that kicked ass, never met her in person but loved her attitude in interviews. Today sucks----tomorrow we can all smile cause we know the force is around her.

Nearly 40 years ago I joined Luke Skywalker in clapping eyes on Princess Leia for the first time and with the same reaction.

Rest in peace, Carrie. The Force will be with you, always.

Sad day...such an iconic woman among the, now one with the Force. RIP Princess.

It occurred to me today that one of the very first SW scenes was with Leia and R2D2 (RIP Mr. Baker). The information she sent R2 away with changed the SW universe and took us all on an amazing journey--and the rest, as they say, is history. She set the wheels in motion.

So sad, but I'm really glad to have had that brief (and very glittery) encounter. Goodbye Carrie Fisher!

Over the years I've seen the passing away of many public figures that I've admired, idolised, tried to emulate, or simply enjoyed watching perform. Stanley Kubrick, Hunter S Thompson, James Gandolfini, Lou Reed, the list goes on.
This is the first time it almost feels as if I've lost a family member or a close friend, though.

    R.I.P. Carrie, we'll miss you.

^ Ditto. I've never been so deeply affected by the death of someone I don't know personally.
    Carrie was special. Is special.

I feel the same way, Nub. All the other celebrities who died, I did have a 'that sucks' reaction, but this? It's like hearing that a family member/close friend had died, not someone we never knew personally. I wonder if this is how Bowie fans felt when he died. :(
