ST Casting for New Female Lead-Episode VIII

i think "lead" is very overblown.

 

I'd prefer her name to be Buf Fett running the Star Wars Cantina now at Mos Isley

 

Especially after the rewrite happened. Probably she will be more like a strong secondary. I think this new female character will be the Lando of the movie.

Come on Lucasfilm, time for a damn announcement.

 

She may not even be cast yet. Her scenes could come near the end of principle photography. If she's still in it of course. Poor old Maisie Richardson Sellers!

 

She would be cast already. They would have done a table read. Plus they gotta get the costumes and such together and in Star Wars that would take some time.

I think even before the rumour, it was always going to be a secondary character. lets think logically: Rey, Finn, Kylo, Han *maybe insert bb-8 too* were the main characters of TFA, even Poe could be considered among the main players. then there was Hux, Leia and someone im forgetting. Han dies, opening up Luke's screen time to increase in VIII. Poe was well recieved and the script re-writes have implied thats because of his role growing. my point is - Luke, Rey, Finn, Kylo, would be called 'leads' and thats already a sizable list of 'leads'. how on earth was it expected that some 'female character' could walk in and become a 'lead'. it was always a rumor, yes, but it was always an overblown one. now with the re-writes, even more-so. i personally expect Chewy, the droids, the yet-to-be-named Del Toro character, Leia, Maz, possibly Lando, possibly Snoke, to all have more screen time than what this rumored female 'lead' would have. not only would it seem 'random' but this is a trilogy and, really, there hasnt been a new character pushed so hard before in the Saga, at least from a 1-2, 4-5, 7-8 context. the only one i can think of would be Dooku and Lando, and i wouldn't have considered them as 'leads' either.

 

So, are they still searching for a second female alongside Mbath-Raw? Because the casting calls are now just for extras and stand- ins.

AFAIK there was about a year between ESB and ROTJ when Boba would have spent some time at Jabba's Palace. Plenty of time for him to do the business. Providing his pregnant partner was not on the Sail Barge but back at the Palace his daughter could well have grown up in complete ignorance of her lineage.

 

Honestly right now I would rather have Fett then his daughter, but his daughter did exist in the EU, although there was some convoluted nature to that back story.

Nah that's just misdirection. The actual new female lead will be *insert your favorite actress who didn't get cast in TFA*.
