Well...I am intrigued, I'll admit. Nevertheless, I still wish that they had left the post-NJO era alone.

I think we can take Tenel Ka's presence in these stories to mean that she will indeed be Jacen's love interest. Also, I'd say that the presence of Lumiya is pretty much confirming the return of the Sith. In regards to Anakin returning as a Force ghost, is that Anakin Skywalker or Solo?

The best news in this thread: Katarn in another book. He actually has a role in a book!

The worst news in this thread: Boba Fett and his new Mandalorians playing a role in Legacy of the Force. I admit to liking Fett, but wouldn't he be older than seventy now?

Then again, I suppose Han is.

32 (years pre-ANH was when he was made) + 25 (years after ANH until VP) + 4 (years for the NJO) = 61. So, he was 61 in TUF; unless Legacy takes place at least a decade later, no. :)

The "new 40" thing really makes sense to me and I always wondered why they never shoed that in Star Wars in a much more advanced medical galaxy, there should be largely increased life spans. 60s being the equivalent of the 40s sounds about right. I believe that at about 60, a Jedi should be able to be in his prime or at least not much decreased in power. Also, I believe the Mandalorians news to be the best news yet. A huge society like the Mandalorians couldn't be just forgotten by history. They had to re-emerge, and Boba's the only man for the job. I hope they have a huge prescence in the series.

IIRC, Legacy [i]does[/i] take place a decade (or more) later.

EDIT: Yeah, I checked. TUF is 29 ABY, Legacy of the Force is 39 ABY.>

Checked... where? Besides, if it's 39 ABY, then the twins are 30, when they're stated to be in their 20s. So that can't be right.

At that age, I don't think I can care for Boba Fett. I'd care for Luke, Han, Leia even less. Here's hoping that the main focus is on new Mandalorians with Fett as an old man that doesn't fight anymore.

Am I missing something? I didn't see any mention of Lumiya in those reports.

I'm not going to prejudge anything, but the concept of Legacy of the Force is really sounding a whole lot like NJO Mk. II. Major galaxy-shaking events, dark threats, character deaths, heroes in constant peril, starts a new era (actually, that part is what makes me hope that this is more than what it sounds like). However, those are three good authors, and it sounds much more organized than the NJO (only three authors, and they've already started planning out the story), so I'll keep an open mind.

The Bane novel sounds neat. I like the Sith, and that period is one that hasn't had much in it (just the Dark Forces novellas, Jedi vs. Sith, and Bane of the Sith, right?). It's something new and different, and while that certainly isn't a guarantee of quality, on sheer principle it sounds better than dragging out the adventures of the OT characters yet again. It's also nice that they don't see Old Republic as just TOTJ/KOTOR; there are gaps of thousands of years in there that are completely unexplored. I wonder where they'll set the other announced OR-era book, and what they'll do with the final two books (OR, hopefully, or at least something in a unique time period).

But with the DR contract already laid out, it's Dark Horse that I'm looking forward to. Apparently they have a big project that they can't talk about for a while, which bodes well (i.e. it suggests it's not just more Clone Wars/Empire-era/etc., not to imply those are bad things).

"the female Sith from the Marvel comics." = Lumiya

She was also mentioned as still being around in the NJO-era in an issue of SW Gamer, as I recall.

The reports mention a female Sith from the Marvel series and Lumiya was the only female force-using villain trained by Vader and the Emporer in not only the Marvel comics but any EU until Zhan decided to rip-off her job, origin and look for his precious little Mary Sue.

Well, rip-off or no, I think this is an interesting little blurb about her, found [link=http://www.geocities.com/mathura108/shiralumiya.html]here[/link]:

And indeed, her fate resembled that of the more well-known fiery-haired Emperor's Hand [Mara Jade] ? but in mirror image. While Mara Jade went from obsessive hatred towards Luke Skywalker to friendship, and finally deepest love; Shira's feelings for Skywalker changed from a love that almost made her forget her duty towards the Empire to endless, vengeful hatred. While Jade eventually found her way to the Light Side of the Force, becoming a Jedi Knight and Master; Shira Brie embraced the Dark Side, becoming the Dark Lady Lumiya.

OK, I've done some checking and math. Here's how it breaks down. From [link=http://www.starwars.com/community/event/celebration/f20050419/indexp25.html]TOS[/link] we have:

Legacy (37 ABY) This is the era of Luke Skywalker's legacy: the Jedi Master has unified the order into a cohesive group of powerful Jedi Knights. However, as this era begins, planetary interests threaten to disrupt this time of relative peace and Luke is plagued by visions of an approaching darkness

Given that the twins were born 9 ABY that would put their ages at 28 in the Legacy era. The timeline from TUF says the NJO spanned 25-30 ABY. This would also mean that they were approximately 21 at the end of the NJO. This can be further backed by the fact that in DW on pg. 70 Jacen says "I'm not even twenty. I can't imagine fifty years." while talking to Vergere. So using this information it's safe to say that approximately 7 years have passed between TUF and the Legacy era.

The 10 years came from a post by, I believe, Sue Rostoni who said that the plan was to have What we now know to be Dark Nest at 5 years after TUF, and what we now know to be Legacy of the Force at 10 years after TUF.

She said that a couple months ago, though so it may have changed...

Legacy of the Force is 37 ABY. And they mentioned that it may span several hundred years, so who knows when it'll end.

Also, I didn't read a lot of this as I'm tired, but look foward to deaths in this series. It was heavily implied that some of our beloved characters will kick the bucket, and it was also implied that it may be some of the movie guys.

    - Yes, Shira Brie (Lumiya) will have an appearance perhaps in Joiner King or in the Legacy of the Force series.
    - Tenal Ka and Hapes will be in it.
    - Wraith Squad is unknown, but possible.
    - Wedge will be there (Allston said if he writes books it will have Wedge. . . unless he is killed).
    - Possible that a Jacen/Jaina may have a kid (its not planned, but like a lot of childbirths things happen)
    - 60s are now the 40s (age wise. Their 60 year olds are equivilent to our 40 year olds).
    - The series will be hardback->hardback->paperbacks x 6->hardback with each author getting their own hardback
    - Katarn was supposed to die in SbS as well, but that was canned due to LA wanting to keep him alive for reasons unknown. They said it was due to Jedi Academy, but that takes place before SbS so that didn't make any sense.

Thats all I can remember right now. I'm sure I'll remember more later or when people say things to jog my memory.

    To qoute a great man : "I'm excited !" :D

My faith has been restored. Long live the EU !

I'm a little concerned about George though. He seems to think there's TV money to be made in EU territory. Fortunately (with the possible exception of Han Solo) there seems to be little damage he can actually do in the III-IV era, but i shudder at the idea of letting him loose in KOTOR or any other era.
