Telona 4:

Dear Diary, let me introduce myself. My name is Koria Rimstar. My Aunt Tuni gave me you for my birthday, which is today. I'm 10 years old, and I hate my life. I want to go home.

Dirnao.

I haven't been there since I the Jedi helped us get off planet. I wish they'd never found us! I was so much happier there.

Sorry, Diary, I know this can't make sense to you... as though anything can make sense to a collection of mostly empty pages can make sense of anything.

Anyway, for the first five years of my life, I lived on Dirnao which is a secret planet pretty much isolated from the rest of the galaxy. I can't tell anyone about it because we don't want anyone to know. But I figure it's safe with you cause you can't tell anyone.

Now I live on Corellia with mom and dad. Daddy was born and raised here. It's [i]his[/i] home. Mom says her home is anywhere daddy is. I love mom and dad, but, home is Dirnao no matter where they are. I don't belong here. Everyone hates me. Well, except for my family, but they don't count.

I mean... AAAGH! I don't know. I mean all the kids my age at school pick on me because I'm a half-breed. I try to fit in, but they are so mean. Everything I do. Every thing I don't do. Everything I wear. How I look. How I don't look. EVERYTHING. STICKS. OUT!

Mom and dad say I'm special. Unique.

For once I just want to be a normal kid. Just the same as everyone else. I don't want to be "special". I don't want to be "unique".

I want to go HOME!

I don't feel very well today. I'm very tired even though I went to bed early and got up late (I have [i]never[/i] slept ten hours in my life before... well, except maybe when I was a baby... I don't know). And my tummy is cramping. Mom and dad made me go to school today anyway because I'm not running a fever.

I'm so sorry for my ranting last night, diary. I wish I could be more like my mom. She is always so cool when others are mean to her or snub her. See, on Corellia, most people are human. My mom is Twi'lek, and used to be a slave. Many look down on her, and their children know that, so they pick on me. I try not to let it show that they bother me, but I just need to vent sometimes... you know? It hurts when people judge you before they really know you.

Okay, enough of that.

Lately I've been feeling... wierd. I'm not sure how to explain it. I've been changing... I mean, my body is changing... i mean, my body is looking more like my mom's instead of like a boy's, though not quite as curvy yet... is it silly that that makes me blush? My hair (I only have hair on top of my head... no eyebrows, eyelashes, or hair anywhere else... and it's snow white, which is another thing that makes me stick out like a sore thumb) is thicker and is growing faster.

Also, I've been having some crazy mood swings. One minute I'm giggling over something stupid, and next thing I know I'm either bawling my eyes out or ready to punch someone. I think I'm going crazy, diary.

Well, I'm finished with my homework, and I'm not hungry so I'm gonna go to bed. Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow.>

And I must admit I find the idea of a Human/Twi'lek hybrid very interesting... I've never really read any USJS, so it's all new to me. I can't wait to see where this goes!

VaderLVR: Yes, it's my favorite childhood/preteen memory.

Darth Muis: Thank you. It'll be another five years after the events in this diary before the events in USJS (i guess I should have put the Return of USJS, as the story Koria is in is the second USJS. Yes, poor Koria has the unique distinction of being the only Human/Twi'lek child born w/o the manipulation of a doctor's manipulations, as the two races are not fully compatible. She's had to deal with some medical quirks as a result... more on that later in the diary.

Telona 5, part 2!

I just had the scare of my life, diary!

When I went to lay down, I suddenly felt wet between my legs. I felt confused, because I thought I'd peed, yet I didn't feel like I'd done that... I'd just gone right before I wrote in you the first time tonight. Then I realized it was blood!

Yes, I was bleeding down there!

I started screaming. I was [b]terrified.[/b]

Mom and dad both burst into my room, asking what was wrong. I got mixed reactions when they realized what was going on. Dad blushed, turned to mom, and said, "You can take care of this." Then he just turned around and left the room.

Mom laughed!

Here I was, screaming and crying hysterically, and she was giggling like nothing was the matter at all!

It turns out she was just relieved that there actually wasn't anything really wrong.

It turns out, I just was experiencing my very first period.

Oh joy.

Now I get to go through this once every month.

I'm thrilled.

My mom was so much more happy about it than I was.

She was humming and grinning the whole time she helped me clean up. We had to change the sheets, and everything.

Well, at least I'm not [i]dieing[/i].>

 

Yeah, now I remember why I would never want to be a teenager again!

 

Oh noes. Now that. Oh, the joys of being a female.

Oh boy... Poor Koria.

 

Funny, as a guy, when people mention puberty, I think 12 and up. But by then, most girls are pretty much done with their growth spurts, so it's almost like a whole different world. In fact, after reading that entry, I actually had to look up when girls typically start having periods because ten seemed too young, but the average age range actually starts at eight, with precocious cases occurring as early as six.

Oh boy, I hope my first kid isn't a daughter.

 

Yeah - it's getting worse with childhood obesity for those of you who care. I think the average used to be somewhere around 13.

Poor Koria. But it's something you'll live through.

Trika: Aye, and guys wonder why we're grumpy at that time of month!

earlybird: And poor male that gets on that female's bad side during that special time.

D M: Somehow that doesn't seem like you're very sympathetic.

Yod: As long as you don't overfeed the girl, then most likely she won't be having her first period at the age of six. Like TMJ stated, the tender age girls are going through puberty here in America (and any country that copies our fatty diet) is attributed to obesity. In fact, if you starve the kid, malnutrition could make her not have puberty until the age of seventeen... if ever.

TMJ: Somehow Kor isn't comforted by that at the moment.

Telona 7:

I was too tired to write you yesterday, Diary, but I'm feeling better today. I'm still kinda tired, but at least my stomach isn't cramping, and the wild mood swings seem to have abated. Mom let me use her sanitary disks the past couple days, but, it's so heavy she had to take me shopping for more. We also bought a couple bras because some of the mothers of the boys in class were complaining that their sons were talking about me... or at least my body parts.

It seems that, even if they didn't like me because I'm a half-breed, they appreciate my figure... just wait until I [i]really[/i] fill out. Hehe, now is when the fun begins.>

 

It can be both a blessing and a curse, Koria.

This is really good. Very like a teenager too ('cos everything feels like it revolves around you specifically).

Good update Alexis. That's the good thing about this Diary Challenge, you get to write/read about things that are less common in other fics, both pro and fan. I'm enjoying it a lot!
