Chatroom

If anyone's interested in chatting to eachother Ive set up an MSN group http://groups.msn.com/sith-academy for SW related stuff. It has all the usual stuff like a chatroom and msg boards etc. I'm also in the middle of creating a new website, the temporary address is http://freewebs.com/sithdominion . If youv'e got any costuming guides or anything else that you would like on there, please let me know. When its finished, I will be buying webspace with good bandwidth and moving it there. The freewebs sites are ok but have poor monthly bandwidth. Thanx peeps

The websites still under construction and is (at the min) a free site so might take a short while to load. The groups site should load straight away.

 

If you want any help with the message board, let me know (it can be a rough ride setting up a SW related board!). What software will you be using?

I'd recommend phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com). It has had security problems, but the current version with aUsTIN's security mod (available at http://phpbb-tweaks.com/main.html) and a couple of code changes in sessions.php seems pretty much solid. As it's open-source and has been around for ever, there are loads of pre-written hacks & mods that will allow you to heavily customise the boards without any real need to learn php.

The basic template may look ugly, but it's very easy to install a new pre-made template, or to just heavily edit the stylesheet for the default style, as I've done [link=http://****ingparrot.net/forums]here[/link]. (If you click around on the site, please be aware that much of it is not family friendly).

 

Thanks for your offer mate but its an msn group so its all done allready. Only thing I need to do is change the look of it if I want and to be honest, thats not the priority just now.

 

Ah, ok - sorry - thought you meant to put the message boards on your website. Much easier to let msn do the work for you!
