Even tho the CT was classic most misquote what Darth Vader says to luke

The misquote is Luke I am your father.
    What he actually says is
    No. I am your father.

Frankly, I've always reminded the quote properly. I'm not quite sure why people misquote it. It may because people are reminding themselves that Vader was talking to Luke specifically. But I don't know.

The TESB comic has "No, Luke. I am your father". I'm not sure if the radio play does as well.

I'm glad I've never given the radio dramas any attention.
I always assumed they were bad and now I finally have confirmation.

They are amazing IMO...they extend and enhance the movies in scenes and dialogue. Just because you don't like them means they are generally bad.

The way to understanding Darth Vader is simple. I think borderline personality disorder has some to do with it. But he did all these terrible things, and he finally learned to do one good thing and give his life to save his son at the end. When he says, "No, I am your father," it's read as a confession. So, despite how he's the villain, that's when he finally begins to see what he did wrong in the past. He did love Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Padme, but he changed and he hurt all of them. He didn't want to that to Luke, and that's why he elected to make amends.

It's fairly obvious from his body language in ROTJ that he has learned to regret what he did in the previous two movies. Sadly, too few people learn to do that in real life. I can only count two famous people I know of who learned to stop their abusive behavior and learned to become kind. In Vader's case, the dark side abused him, and he finally understood that he had to let it go and not hurt his own son. That's why he gave up everything for him in the end.

Take this for example. Vader could have been ruthless and hurt the animals. Instead, he learned to respect them and their ways. So, that's the odd thing. He slowly but slowly rebuilt the empathy that he had thrown away so long ago. It's symbolic.

I’ve been saying “may the Fonz be with you” for 40 years. Apparently it’s the force.

I got into a debate with my son-in-law recently because he swore that Vader says "Luke, I am your father." Even my daughter (his wife) couldn't convince him he was wrong. So we all sat down and watched it and he was shocked that he had been misquoting it all his life. I agree that it is odd that people misquote it still to this day like they do.
And I also love the radio dramas of the OT. For me, it enhances the experience of the movies. I'm not sure if they are still official canon, but to me they are.
