CT Classic Trilogy Rare and Behind the Scenes pics and footage

I have a book called, Creating the Worlds of Star Wars by John Knoll, and that photo is in it, and it is indeed from the deleted sandstorm scene.

Quote from the book:
"This scene was the only one in Return of the Jedi requiring a Millennium Falcon exterior. The size of the Falcon set built for The Empire Strikes Back meant that it was too large to save, therefore it was rebuilt for Jedi on Stage 2. However, because the sandstorm would greatly limit visibility, only half of the Falcon was reconstructed. During postproduction, Lucas decided that this scene, shot on the first day of principal photography, was unnecessary, and deleted it from the picture."

Yep it was. Glad its on youtube because sadly we will probably never see that broadcast officially again due to the host of the show, Jimmy Saville, and what he got up to. All of his lengthy resume of TV and radio is now shelved.

 

I just googled him. Yikes. He is not well known in the US but I remember reading of this. Didn't he appear in Love Actually as the tv music host?

 

There was another episode of the show where Peter Cushing appeared and some horticulturists created a new variety of rose to honor his late wife Helen. I wonder what happened to that cultivar.

Did somebody run that picture through an AI upscaler? It looks super strange and weirdly smooth in a lot of places.

It looks like a black and white image that was colorized via photshop or AI
