Best part of the movie was when L3 died.

 

I liked when Han Solo got his vest. I can't recall much about the movie so that might have happened.

Best part was L3 and her girl talk with Qi’ra.

complaints — not enough Val/Rio development for impact.

 

I liked Solo. It’s main flaw was not being nearly as good as Rogue One. And that was a very high bar. Otherwise, it’s much, much better than any of the ST films. Though that’s a very low bar. So yeah, it’s good. Not great. But good.

 

It's a great young adult Han Solo adventure novel from the EU made into a movie. And that's all it needs to be. I don't know why it gets so heavily criticized.

The only thing I'd say they botched about it was the release date. Directly competing with Infinity War and coming less than six months after TLJ was not a recipe for box office success even if the movie was on par with Rogue One. That was a huge miscalculation. And it does the movie a disservice since I think people equate it with the quality of the movie.

It would have been a perfect fall release, when families were looking for something to do, there would have been enough distance from TLJ where the general audience would have just naturally started to anticipate the next SW release (since SW theatrical releases were still a huge deal at that point), it could have been promoted at San Diego Comic Con a couple of months prior to that (and after the buzz from Infinity War had died down), about a legacy character that everybody would have been excited to finally see a movie about.

 

I wish the idea for Solo came later, and instead of a film it was a D+ show. Obi-Wan should have been a film.

I enjoy Solo, but also Solo I think gets accurate criticism of being "a movie nobody asked for", and ultimately it does somewhat water down Han's character. I would have preferred there was no rebellion connection at all, because now his arc in ANH has been somewhat diminished... he didn't organically make the call the help Luke and rebels... he already had at least some connection/sympathy for the rebellion.

A minor annoyance in the movie was its need to explain... everything.

 

I still want them to film Brian Daley's novels.

 

Funny, but DEFINITELY not how that film should have ended.
