    CREATURES OF THE DARK

It was a slow day on Coruscant's lower levels. It always looked gloomy down there, but that didn't deter others from trying to get credits. Inside a large food stand, known as 'Lana's Passion', a young Human had her back on the wall of the kitchen and arms folded. "Kark, it's so hot in here!" the young woman said with an annoyed look. While serving a customer, an old female Cosian named Lana glared at the young Human. "CeCe! Language."

CeCe Barula chuckled and raised her arms in defense. "Sorry Auntie. I mean, it is." After serving the customer, Lana chuckled while shaking her head and straightening her spectacles. "What do you expect from a food stand? There will be lots of steam. Plus, you have your jacket on." CeCe grinned at the old woman. "Touché…" Ever since Lana found the young girl hiding near her trash cans outside, she always cared for CeCe. From then on, CeCe came to this place to wind down. It was like a little getaway spot from all the wild adventures. Food stand or not, she loved this place.

Going to the counter and wiping it down, Lana asked with a quiet look, "So... have you considered retiring yet?" CeCe knew where this was going. She didn't like to see the old woman worry, but she had to do what needed to be done. "You already know the answer, Auntie. I'm far from being done. Those slave traders deserve what they get. All of them." The Cosian placed the cloth down sadly and sighed. "Listen, my child. There is more to life than hunting down others who will always do wrong. That's why we have the Republic and Jedi." She gazed at CeCe with pleading eyes. "Go and start a family, CeCe. Grow old and be at peace. That's what I'm doing."

Upon hearing this, CeCe sighed. Oh how she wished it were that simple. But now she was known as The Shadow Woman: The woman one who eliminated slavers and moved swiftly in the shadows. She was already deep in this and would find a way to discover her own peace. CeCe smiled and hugged Lana tightly. "Don't worry. I'll be done with this. It may take time though. But hopefully, there will be something better for me in the future." Lana smiled as tears welled up in her eyes. "That's all I want for you, CeCe."

Moments later, it was time for CeCe to depart. Before she left, Lana gave her a wooden bracelet. "I made this when I was about your age. Kept it as a lucky charm. Now, I give it to you." CeCe smiled warmly and nodded. "Thank you, Auntie."
    "You be safe, okay?"
"I will." After giving her a reassuring grin, CeCe walked to where her ship, The Bleeding Heart, was. After CeCe left, Lana went back inside and noticed the girl left her small take-out container. "Oh dear... She left her food. No matter. I'll take it home and call her."

Minutes later, after Lana closed her food stand, the old Cosian walked out with her bag. But as she walked down the streets alone, she tripped, resulting in her spectacles falling off. "Ugh! Blast it..." She tried to search for her spectacles, but to no avail. All of sudden, she her footsteps in front of her stop. "Cece? Is that you? Oh, you must've came back for your food. Say, I dropped my spectacles. Could you find them, please?" There was no response. Just breathing. Lana squinted her eyes and gazed up, confused. "CeCe?"

Suddenly, she was grabbed and carried away. "Hey! Let me go! Let me go this instant! HEEEEELLLP!!"

    ABOUT THE STORY

The story takes place in the year 15 ABY. People have gone missing due to mysterious events. The Jedi and New Republic are called about this matter to investigate. Rumor has it that new Dark Jedi are taking these innocent people and turning them into mutants and Sithspawn. There are two main culprits: A former member of the Sorcerers of Rhand and leader of the Dark Jedi and an exiled Imperial scientist. Together, they form a group known as The Servants of Darkness. With their mutations and bio-engineering, these people are confident that they will take over the Galaxy through fear and the dark side.

However, Luke Skywalker and his students aren't going to sit down and let more innocent people go missing. Leia assembles skilled agents from the New Republic to aide Master Skywalker as well. There are even some willing to find their loved ones, whether they join the Jedi or not. Whenever there's a dark force willing to threaten innocent lives, the Galaxy is ready to fight back.

Appearance: Long dark-brown hair, fair skin, and brown eyes. Slender built and 5' 6" average height. She wears a black Women's Hooded Faux leather Jacket, black tank top, dark navy blue leggings, and black non-high heel boots. She also wears the wooden bracelet, given to her by Lana.

    Picture:

Personality: When it comes to facing the enemy, she's daring, sarcastic, and intelligent. Even with higher authorities, she's not afraid to speak her mind. But when it comes to friends and civilians, she can be kind and helpful.

    Occupation: Vigilante

Weapon(s): Two DL-44 heavy blaster pistols on both hips, flash grenades, smoke bombs, mini stun gun, vibroblade, two cortosis shield gauntlets, magna-gloves, and night vision goggles

    Short Bio:
Before CeCe became a vigilante for justice, she was the daughter of a loving mother. Unfortunately, she never knew her father, because he left when CeCe was just a baby. Born on Dantooine, CeCe's mother was a farmer who sold produce at the local town. Growing up, CeCe would play in the fields, swim in the oceans with her mom, and help with farming. Deep down, she wanted to be an explorer and discover new things in the Galaxy. Life was wonderful for the little girl as she grew up. But when she became twelve, her life change drastically.

One evening, when she and her mother were walking back home from selling food, they were ambushed by two thugs. CeCe's mother did what she could to keep her daughter safe, at first pleading with the two men to leave them be. One of them, a Nautolan, tried to drag her mom to come with them, but she stomped his foot and swung at his face with her bag of fruits. After warning CeCe to run, the twelve-year-old ran ran. But then she heard blaster shots. This truly devastated CeCe. Unfortunately, the two thugs caught up to her and decided to take her to a slave trade.

At the age of fifteen, she was a slave girl to a crime lord Hutt. She would serve drinks and dance for the Hutt and his guests. Deep inside, her hatred of every slave owners and criminals grew strong. She would one day set the innocent free, if she herself could get free. One night, a mysterious man helped her escaped, telling her to never forget and stay strong. Once CeCe got away safely with the man (disguised as a guard), he began to train her on how to fight and be cunning. On her first attempt to free slaves with him, they were caught. He covered her, telling her to run (just like her mother did). At first, CeCe objected, but he wanted her to carry on his work to save people. The young girl sadly nodded and hijacked a ship, not knowing if the man survived or not.

On Coruscant, CeCe was resting at the back building of a food stand called 'Lana's Passion'. This is where the old Cosian woman found and took care of CeCe. In her spare times, the young woman would go out and be a nuisance to slave traders, freeing some slaves.

Now, after finding out that Lana was kidnapped, CeCe is desperate to find her friend.

    Name: Dasha Astakhova

    Age: 24

    Gender: Female

    Species: Human

Appearance: Average height for a human female and a little underweight. There's a scar running down her right temple from a blaster bolt that grazed her there. Her hair is dyed pink and cut short. She has several piercings, in her lip, eyebrows, nose, and upper ear along with tattoos on her right shoulder and arm, back, and left leg. Generally she wears long pants and short sleeve shirts with a deep green military jacket over top on cold days. On her back is a military grade comms pack, capable of communicating over long distances without a repeater or satellite. It is spray painted black with a golden eye stenciled onto the side.

Personality: Keeps to herself, a little aloof and quiet. Very focused on her mission and dislikes any distractions from that. Generally speaks in soft tones leading to her nickname 'Whisper'.

    Occupation: Slicer

Weapon(s): LPA blaster she keeps tucked in her waistband hidden under her jacket, and a datapad tucked within a custom shielded pocket with a universal connector.

Short Bio: Born during the early days of the Empire on Carratos to an Imperial clerk and secretary. Both parents were staunchly Imperial and would never turn, even as the tide turned against Empire they did not defect. It was to be their undoing, when the Rebellion became the New Republic they rounded up everyone involved with the old regime, the Astakhova's were swept up too. With her mother and father taken away and nowhere else to go Dasha was left in the streets of O'Pahz as the world, finally released from the iron grip of the Empire, delved into chaos and criminality. She had a knack for computers, always working on them at home. She fell in with what could be called a bad crowd but, they took her in gave her a datapad and food.

They were a small group and never out to hurt anyone, unless they tried to hurt them first. They got by on stealing, mostly from the New Republic. Their greatest caper was hijacking a Republic military convoy, they stole a lot of weapons, and cursually communication equipment. Dasha took to it right away learning the ins and outs of the system. Their capabilities grew that day but, so did their profile.

They knew their luck was sure to run out, and it did. A job went south, a contact tipped off the Republic, and one of their own was captured, a Jenet they called 'Shorty'. She wanted to bust him out but, the rest of the team said no. The heat was too hot, they had to split up.

They weren't supposed to even meet each other afterwards but, she'd grown close to one of the gang, closer than the others. He was a human, a Corellian named Raan, they called him One-Eye.

They had an holo-net account, one they used to pass messages back and forth. One day she got a message that chilled her.

    'I think I'm being followed.'

She knew where he was hiding and paid a visit. What she found was nothing. He wasn't there, his place looked untouched but, his jacket, one he 'stole' from the Corellian Defense Force, remained. She knew he would never go anywhere without his jacket. He was taken, no doubt.

Dasha had already lost one of her family, she wouldn't lose another one.

She wasn't doing this for the Republic, she was looking into this for her friend, no other reason.

    GM APPROVED!

    Name:
    Han Solo

    Age: 44

    Gender: Male

    Species: Human

Appearance: 1.8 meters tall, roughly 80 kilograms, brown hair with flecks of gray, hazel eyes, light skin tone, often seen wearing his iconic black vest and Corellian-striped pants. Still akin to a “scruffy-looking Nerf-herder”

    Picture:

Personality: A smooth talker and a risk taker, once thought to have a selfish attitude to look out for only himself, he’s grown to care about those closest to him but still holds fast to the ideals of “running away to live again another day”.

Occupation: Former Smuggler, currently a pilot for hire.

    Weapon(s): Blaster pistol

Short Bio: During the years after the events on Endor and the establishment of Luke’s Academy, Han went back to transporting goods to maintain a “reasonable living” as he called it, though this was much to Leia’s dislike. That didn’t mean he still didn’t run afoul with the Hutts or other criminal cartels, but with the help of his good ol’ Corellian Luck, his pal Chewbacca, and the trusty-not-rusty Millenium Falcon, Han has still managed to escape by the skin of his teeth time and time again.

With the recent kidnappings and the fear that it’s likely to happen closer to home, Han’s been summoned back at the behest of Leia to assist in hunting down the kidnappers or any such clues as to the whereabouts of the victims.

    Name: Moyric “Ric” Sisk

    Age: 59

    Gender: Male

    Species: Human

Appearance: Thinning gray hair with a square jawline and hazel eyes; he is of an average build and stands at about 6’1”; as is typical for most celebrities of his stature, he favors the latest fashion suits, augmented by an expensive wrist chrono, rings, and other adornments to show his worth.

However, for his current purposes, he has left himself go to blend in with the ‘common folk’ and appear conspicuous. Now sporting a scruffy beard and with his hair purposely unkempt, Ric has traded his immaculate wardrobe for an old spacer jacket, scuffed boots, and military fatigues.

    Picture:

Personality: While he tends to have a warm and welcoming demeanor at first glance, he hides behind a ruthless side, which has defined his role as a major player on the galactic stage. He is calculating and stubborn, never expecting anything less but the best from those who work under him. But despite his authoritarian attitude at work, he is also a devoted family man. Some of his closest friends have even jokingly referred to him as ‘livable’ when he is not touting the spotlight.

Occupation: Media personality and political commentator for Galactic News Service (GNS)

Weapon(s): DL-22 blaster pistol resting in a holster along his right thigh; concealed vibroblade

Short Bio: A native of Coruscant, Ric Sisk got his start in broadcasting at the age of 22 as a field correspondent during the Clone Wars. He did what very few reporters were willing to do at the time – step into the action and bring live images of the war back to the viewers at home. This earned him high praise and recognition from various media outlets for his valiant efforts...and his bravado.

His penchant for risk-taking and doing whatever it takes to grab a story is what ultimately landed him a job at one of the premier news networks in the galaxy – Galactic News Service.

During the rise of the Empire and the onset of the Galactic Civil War, Ric served GNS faithfully as an on-air personality and breaking news anchor, where he soon became a familiar face and a household name around the galaxy. With this kind of success, it wasn’t long before his superiors tapped him to host his own program for the station. Of course, Ric agreed.

He soon became the host of the nightly political commentary segment, Hard Case with Ric Sisk. The show regularly delved into cultural events, featured exclusive interviews with prominent political figures/celebrities, and gave a general run-down on the day’s headlines. Since the rise of the New Republic, his segment has been one of the best-rated shows on GNS, but it didn’t come without controversy. Sisk’s brute honesty and derisive opinions have caused some disparity among his peers. Was he doing it for the good of the Republic, or simply for the entertainment factor?

Others say he had another goal in mind: his aspirations to enter the main political arena on Coruscant were quite apparent in certain circles. This was particularly telling in his constant, and often harsh, criticism of the current Chief of State, Leia Organa Solo. Their views were on opposite ends of the political spectrum, and as a result, he had insisted on a one-on-one interview to set things straight. He had been desperately trying to set something up for months...to no avail.

His obsession to land that exclusive interview had become a bit of a running joke at the beginning of each show, but all of that stopped when Ric suddenly announced that his segment would go on a temporary hiatus. He cited his personal health as the reason, but that did not prevent his peers, critics, and fans from speculating about the truth.

Some had heard rumors about his son becoming a victim of the recent kidnappings that had plagued the galaxy, while others wondered if he had simply dropped off the grid to return to his roots out in the field – to snuff out the source of the kidnappings and bring back a huge exclusive for GNS.

    Only time would tell...

OOC: Your characters can either start at the lobby of the Chief of State's building, or they can start anywhere else in the Galaxy.

    Interlude: CeCe Barula

Inside the lobby of the Chief of State's building
    Coruscant

The year was 15 ABY. It has been eleven years since the Rebellion won the Battle of Endor. Throughout the years, the New Republic began to form, becoming the dominant galactic government. Peace seemed to come back to the galaxy. But there were always enemies ready to take on the New Republic and Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy. Though the Galactic Civil War was going on with the Imperial Remnant and Admiral Daala (despite being allowed to leave in peace by the New Republic), there were other problems happening.

News of people disappearing all around the galaxy caused panic. Some stayed home and had their children come in early before dark. Others just went out to their destinations safely in daylight. This fear was beginning to get out of hand.

Leia Organa Solo, Chief of State, was on the news one morning, telling people not to worry and that the Republic had the situation under control. She was also recruiting volunteers who were very skilled to assist the New Republic in finding these missing people. CeCe Barula would be one of them.

Three days later, CeCe was standing in the lobby of Leia Organa Solo's office building, arms folded and back on the wall. It was a nice place, but too nice for CeCe's taste. She was use to places like Coruscant's lower levels. It was where her good friend, Lana the Cosian, was kidnapped. She would do anything to save her beloved friend. Even if it meant going through desperate measures...

    IC: Dasha Astakhova
Lobby, Chief of State's Office, Coruscant

Dasha woke up in a dingy low rent hotel, the lights of the surrounding buildings shining through the small window and falling on her face. She was too far down, in the bowels of the planet wide city, to actually get any sunlight. Her eyes squint against the harsh signs and advertisements blazing across the street. It was too early for this. The slicer threw off the stiff, itchy blanket, putting her feet on the cold metal floor. An empty bottle once containing a cheap clear grain alcohol rolled away from her sock covered feet.

It was a rough night last night. She just go in on a transport from Tanjay to Imperial Center. She still called it that in her heart, even if she would never admit it out loud. The Empire was gone, at least in her mind, all that was left were embers glowing faintly in the darkness. Embers that would soon be snuffed out. Saying her relationships to the Empire and the Republic were complicated would be an understatement. On the one hand she was the daughter of two stanuch Imperials that went to prison just for the fact that they would not renounce the Empire. On the other, she was a criminal by both Imperial and Republic law. She did not wrap what she was doing in the flag of the Empire, no this was just a personal grudge. A vendetta against the government.

However she was volunteering for this Republic sanctioned manhunt, so it seemed her anger didn't run too deep.

'I'm not doing for them.' she rationalized. Her eyes fall on the deep green jacket laying spread out over the bed. 'I'm doing it for him.' She pinched the bridge of her nose closing her eyes for just a moment. In the darkness she saw a faintly glowing green orb, an eye, his eye. Another long breath leaves her as she rose from the bed plodding her way towards the refresher station, head pounding with the hangover from last night. A quick shower later she was dressed ready to go face this city, face the Chief of State, with gold and silver rings piercing her ears, lip, nose and eyebrow. Looking every bit the malcontent she was reported to be.

She took up her pistol, a simple weapon given her when she fell in with her gang. Her hand ran over it watching the light grint weakly of the dull metal. It had been through a lot. Next was her datapad, an even more dangerous weapon...in her hands. Give her an access port and she can shut down a space station, reroute a MC80, or any number of things. However to do all that, she needed to have physical access a direct line into the internal network. That didn't stop her from getting into all corners of the holo-net, creating fake identities, tracking down payments to shipping companies, hijacking iterianries so she knew exactly were the shipment was going to be. It was surprising what people left in weakly secured inboxes.

Next was the jacket, deep green and big on her. Her hands were nearly swallowed by the sleeves, leaving just the tips of her fingers visible from under the cuff. She pulled it tight around herself. Closing her eyes she could almost feel his arms around her, Raan's arms. It still smelled like him, ship grease mixed sweat. This was the only thing she had to remember him by, only thing linking her to the one she was searching for.

Last was her comm unit, a heavy backpack like thing capable of contacting anyone over a large area with encrypted line. It can even reach the stars from the ground below. She still remembered the day she stole this set. A well thought out and planned caper that nearly went sideways on them. Now she keeps it more for the sentimental value than any actual use. She hasn't worked with a team in a while but, from the sounds of it she'd be working with others on this one, might come in handy.

She made her way from the lower sections straight up to the proper level. Her eyes screwed shut as she breached steel canopy, and finally had the sun shine full upon her, making the pain between her eyes worsen. It was still too early for this. Her movements were slow and plodding hand shielding her eyes from the harsh glare.

Dasha eventually made her way to the Chief of State's office, looking slightly disheveled, with bags under her bloodshot eyes and shoulders slumped forward. She shoved her hands into her pockets leaning her shoulder against a pillar. Casting an eye around seh spotted someone else that didn't want to be here. A woman with dark hair dressed in darker more distressed clothing that anything the officials were wearing.

Deciding not to just wait in silence the slicer walked across the lobby, heavy boots thudding against the floor. She took off her comms unit setting at her feet as she leaned against the same wall.

"You answering the Chief's call for aid?" she asked the woman next to her, in a soft tone, just above a whisper, but below what one would call normal conversation. "Help me <insert name here> you're my only hope." She continued with a sarcastic smile and mocking tone though not raising her voice.

The vigilante continued to be in a trance while staring up at the large ceiling. Being here, CeCe felt that she didn't belong. When she was a little girl, she was nothing but a farm girl on Dantooine. Her mother was a farmer who sold fruits and vegetables so good you could eat them raw. But instead of having her mother's crunchy and sweet food, CeCe could only taste bitterness. Life was just like that for the former slave girl. Bitter and cold taste...

Lana, however, changed all that. She was like family to CeCe and would do anything to keep the Cosian safe. Lana's words of wisdom and kind heart reminded CeCe that not all people in the galaxy were bad. She even tolerated the Jedi and Republic. Although, there was one particular Jedi she considered a frenemy, and his name was Kyp Durron. Long story short, he always thought what she did was wrong: by killing or injuring slave traders and their allies harshly. And she thought she was doing right. But at the same time, both young adults agreed that freeing innocent people and going through desperate measures was something that had to be done sometimes.

This time, things were different. Lana was missing and this left an incredible pain inside CeCe's heart. Nothing would stop her until she made sure that Lana was safe again.

Quietly snapping back into reality, CeCe spotted a woman that walked inside with a slumped posture. And even from a distance, she could see that this woman's eyes were not in the morning mood. Boy, you did not want to mess with a person who just got up this early! When the woman spotted the young brunette, CeCe continued to lean her back on the wall, glancing back up at the ceiling. A few minutes later, the woman was leaning on the wall beside her.

Gazing over at the woman, she looked to be around her age. Her hair was dyed pink and cut short. Piercings could be seen on her lip, eyebrows, nose, and upper ear. She looked tough! But CeCe didn't want to assume anything. In a way, this lady looked rather cool.

When the lady spoke, CeCe grinned at her and chuckled. Her mocking tone and sarcastic smile made CeCe's day a little better. "Yeah. Although I believe the Republic can handle it, this for me is personal." She softly grinned at the woman and asked, "What about you?"

    IC: Ric Sisk
    The Red Rancor, Coruscant

With a cup of caf in hand, Ric Sisk, renown broadcasting extraordinaire and media personality for the Galactic News Service, sat in a solitary booth in the far corner of the cantina, his dark eyes ever diligent as he observed the various patrons milling about their business. Even at this early hour, the place had no trouble attracting a wide range of clientele, from the government elite to the usual riff-raff from the streets. It was a wonder the galaxy could continue to function with the way some beings so casually indulged in their alcohol. And that did not even account for the trade of other illegal intoxicants, in which he was sure this place was a prime hotspot. Overall, it was a sad state of affairs.

Shaking his head, Ric merely sighed and brought the cup back up to his lips for another sip of the hot liquid. It certainly wasn’t the kind of establishment that he would usually prefer to visit, but in this instance, it was a necessary evil.

Several months ago, shortly after the strange kidnappings had first begun to take root in the New Republic news cycles, Ric had received an anonymous tip that his son, Trev, was playing with fire. According to the report, he was toeing too close to the line with a notorious group of smugglers operating out of the Outer Rim. When Ric had confronted him about the incident, his son insisted that it was only a cover story; he was on the verge of exposing a potentially dangerous situation, and he wanted his help.

Skeptical of his son’s intentions, Ric had refused to offer him any assistance, much less, tap into the resources he had at GNS. That was grounds for a public relations nightmare, and with his reputation, that was something he could not afford. And so, he had left the young man to his own devices.

A week later, Trev had disappeared without a trace.

The incident had left Ric riddled with guilt. His performance at work had suffered for it, and it was only a matter of time before he had to step away on a sabbatical to conquer his inner demons. He had cited a personal health issue as the reason for his leave, but in truth, he had vowed to find his son.

And not just his son, but to seek retribution by exposing the truth…

That was why he was in this loathsome cantina, mingling with an unsavory crowd, and looking as if he was on the verge of financial collapse. After sending out several probes to a few of his sources, old and new alike, a lead had finally turned up. The contact, who refused to share any information over an open comm channel, had requested to meet at midday in the Red Rancor to make the exchange.

He had to admit, the place was lowkey, but he knew that it could still present a problem for someone of his stature. While Ric typically enjoyed the spotlight, fame also had its downfall. For this mission, he didn’t want to draw any unwanted attention. That would only work against his eventual goal. Short of cosmetic enhancements, there was very little he could do to hide a famous face. He hoped that his shabby clothes and scruffy appearance would be enough in this instance...and that it didn’t dissuade his contact from approaching him.

Reclining back, Ric resumed sipping his caf and idly watched the door.

OOC: Sorry for the delay everyone! RL caught up with me a little faster than expected.

    IC as Han Solo

En route to Coruscant, Onboard the Millennium Falcon

Han stood with a shaky hand as he stared back at the dark figure in front of him. It was a hard decision to follow through on, but deep down he knew it had to be done. If he didn’t do it, who would?

“C’mon, you’ve got this.” He said to reassure himself, closing his eyes a moment as he raised his hand to the mouth of the figure…

… and brought the razor down along his own chin!

Slowly, Han shaved away months worth of growth from beneath his nose and his chin and stared at himself in the ‘fresher mirror.

“Not too scruffy.” He gave an approving nod and washed his face before walking back to the cockpit. Snapping the Falcon out of autopilot, he could see that he was less than half a galactic hour from arriving at Coruscant.

“Glad I shaved.” Han mused, knowing he would be meeting with Leia as soon as he arrived. There was some business about kidnappings, and while it didn’t immediately require his own personal attention, he was going to help however he could, provided that his wife gave him the proper information to go off of.

Usually, if Han was involved it meant a lot of being like a glorified cab driver, getting them from Point A to Point B within a designated amount of time. It wasn’t that he minded as much, but he knew it was putting some unnecessary wear-and-tear on the Falcon.

The Millennium Falcon landed at the State Building, and after a bit of conflict with a docking official about clearance, Han made his way to the Lobby with his all-too-casual gait.

    “Hm.”

He paused and took in the two women talking amongst themselves and rolled his eyes.

“More kids.” He mumbled under his breath, striding further into the room like he owned the place. The smuggler plopped down in a chair across from the two and kicked his feet up on a table catty-corner to his position.

Lady Solo still not here yet? Kinda rude to summon everyone here and make them wait.” Han began, playing off of the assumption that neither knew who he was or his relation to Leia in the least.

The grin deepened on her face watching the other woman take a little enjoyment in Dasha's sarcasm. It was always nice to see someone have her sense of humor.

"Yeah. Although I believe the Republic can handle it, this for me is personal." The grin faded just a little hearing that this person had a personal reason to undertake this task. "What about you?"

A slight huff left her chest as she slumped down just a little.

"If the Republic could handle this they wouldn't be calling in people like me." She flashed a devilish smile. "It's not like they're going to put my face on the propaganda. Hold me up as a hero like Skywalker." The slicer turned away smile fading completely. She pulled the jacket that clearly didn't fit her tighter around her shoulders. "I'm just here for the money...I'd be hunting down these monsters on my own anyway. Might as well get paid for it."

Her pierced eyebrow raised seeing the older man take a seat across from them.

"Lady Solo still not here yet? Kinda rude to summon everyone here and make them wait."

"Ah…" Dasha siad waving her hand. "Just the Republic bureaucracy at its finest. She's probably stuck in some important meeting about the color of the drapes in her new office, or just putting us in our place, she is the one in command and we move on her timetable not ours." It was hard to hide her true feelings about this 'government'. Sure things might have been bad under the Empire but, at least things like this didn't happen. "Or she just forgot. Doesn't matter really, I'll give her." she looked to the chrono hanging on the wall. "Ten minutes, maybe a bit more...Got things to do."

    The Red Rancor, Coruscant

A male Besalisk walked inside the Red Rancor and scanned his surroundings. The place was a bit crowded with all sorts of species. Patrons were chatting, drinking their beverages, and just having a good time. But not all the patrons were having a good time. One man, that the Besalisk was searching for, had so much on his mind. And that man was Ric Sisk.

And there he was. Sitting at the far corner of the cantina in a solitary booth. Jake Gabor grinned and walked over to the scruffy-looking guy. He looked like Bantha fodder. But hey, one had to disguised themselves, right? "Well, well, well. If it isn't the man himself," Jake said, chuckling and sitting across from Ric on the booth.

CeCe gazed at the woman, who's grin faded away as they talked about their reasons for being here. "If the Republic could handle this they wouldn't be calling in people like me." She flashed a devilish smile. "It's not like they're going to put my face on the propaganda. Hold me up as a hero like Skywalker."

"Yeah. I hear ya on that," CeCe replied with a nod. She agreed. This wasn't about being a hero or anything. This was about searching for someone she cared for. The one person that treated her like family, ever since her mother and her mentor sacrificed themselves for her.

"I'm just here for the money...I'd be hunting down these monsters on my own anyway. Might as well get paid for it."

That's what it always came down to. Getting money. CeCe wasn't against making a few credits. But she always felt that helping someone without anything in return was a good feeling. Maybe that was just her being sentimental. After all, she was 'The Shadow Killer'. Both her enemies and people like Kyp and the Jedi knew that about her. She would help slaves and mistreated people, through her own sense of justice.

And that was her mission: Saving Lana. Whatever it took...

Before she could reply, CeCe saw one person that caught her eyes. Someone she always looked up to. "Ohmygosh... Han Solo...!" CeCe gasped quietly. She cleared her throat, trying to keep her composure. She heard many tales of the legendary Han Solo. From helping Luke Skywalker destroy the First Death Star to facing all sorts of dangers in the Galaxy. This man took no nonsense from anyone! CeCe decided to walk over and stand beside the seated man, smiling timidly.

"Um... hello, sir. My name is CeCe Bardu, I mean, Barula. Sir Han Solo. Sir. I'm a big fan of yours." The young woman smiled sheepishly, extending her hand out for a handshake. "By the stars, you are such a dork..." the young vigilante thought to herself.

Finally, a female, Mon Calamari secretary received word from Leia that the arrivals could step inside her office. The secretary stood up from the front desk and walked over to the trio. Smiling, politely, she said, "General Solo? Ladies? The Chief of State would like to see you now. Follow me, please."

"Ohmygosh... Han Solo...!" The woman next to Dasha said under her breath. The slicer looked between the woman and the older man. Was this really the great Han Solo? He looked old, tired a bit of grey in his hair. Not at all the hero the news reports said he was, not that Dasha cared all that much. She was just here to get paid.

"Um... hello, sir." The other woman said with a weak smile, "My name is CeCe Bardu, I mean, Barula." So that was her name, Dasha filed it away, she would be looking her up when she had a moment. It wouldn't do to not know every little thing about the people she was working with. "Sir Han Solo. Sir. I'm a big fan of yours." Dasha's pierced brow rose watching this display. Was this Fangirling? Was she gushing over this old man? Dasha just shook her head noting the Mon Cal assistant coming towards them.

"General Solo?" she bagan, drawing a huff from Dasha. Did the Rebels give commissions to all smugglers or just ones that happen to be in the right place at the right time. "Ladies? The Chief of State would like to see you now. Follow me, please."

With a heave the slicer put her com unit on her back tightening the straps on her shoulders.

"I'm Dasha by the way." she said nodding her head, her voice still quiet. Might as well start getting to know each other. Though it seemed CeCe knew everything about 'General' Solo. And once she had some time alone, Dasha would know everything about Ms. Barula. She walked with the rest of them, making their way to the Chief of State's office. This was proving to be a very interesting day.

Inside the Chief of State's Office, Coruscant

After the female Mon Calamari instructed them to follow her, CeCe smiled and breathed. "Finally... I mean, great!" She turned back to Han and smiled nervously. "Great meeting you again, sir." This was so exciting! She got to work with the Han Solo! Walking towards Dasha and beside her, she finally caught the woman's name.

    "I'm Dasha by the way."

CeCe smiled at the woman and nodded. Then she replied, "The name's CeCe. Nice to meet ya. Guess we're gonna be working together as well." After greeting Dasha, the young vigilante could see that they were near the Chief of State's office. They finally went inside, with the Mon Calamari secretary standing beside the now opened door. "She's right inside." Once everyone was inside, CeCe stood a few feet away from the desk. There she was. Leia Organa Solo. One of the most important figures of the Rebellion. Now, she was Chief of State of the New Republic. What an interesting day for CeCe.

Leia gazed up at the volunteers and Han from her papers. She smiled (more brightly at Han). "Ah. Welcome. Please, take a seat. Master Skywalker and I were just discussing about the current situation." There on the holoscreen was the well-known Luke Skywalker. Jedi Master of the Temple on Yavin 4. A man who was on a quest to find more Jedi trainees to join the New Jedi Order. He had one Jedi that CeCe knew all too well... Kyp Durron. If he was going to be on this mission, things would get very interesting...

"Let us get down to business. As you all may know, there have been countless kidnappings this year. We do not know what the cause is, but it's most likely a dark force. A force that my brother, Luke Skywalker, and his Jedi Knights have sensed. We may be dealing with a formidable opponent."

CeCe, who was leaning her back on the wall with crossed arms, grinned and chuckled softly, gazing down at the floor.

"I guess." Dasha said walking along side CeCe. She shifted her shoulders feeling a weight of eyes upon her. This place was loaded with sensors watching her, recording her, keeping her image until she swooped in and erased them. Having her likeness out in the galaxy attached to her name was always a worrying. She worked in the shadows rarely coming into the light. This one job drove her into the light, Raan made her do this. She'd have to have a strong talk with him about this once it is all over. For making her worry, making her fear, making her deal with the Republic, have her meet with the Chief of State, and any number of other things that would occur while she hunted him down. And she would, no doubt in his mind.

She entered the office of the Chief of State, it was a simple affair barely even worth mentioning. At a simple desk she sat flimsi littering the surface. A smile graced Leia's face as Dasha took her seat, the smile was not shared. The slicer took off her comset, putting in front of her chair but behind her legs that were stretched out due to her slouched posture. She saw the screen the great Jedi, the new light in the universe Luke Skywalker, on the hunt for more shining lights to bring hope back to the galaxy. If the new master of the Jedi was already on this, why did they need the help of normies.

Was this even beyond the Hero of Yavin?

"Let us get down to business." Leia started, "As you all may know, there have been countless kidnappings this year." Dasha sunk even deeper into the chair face darkening just a little. "We do not know what the cause is, but it's most likely a dark force. A force that my brother, Luke Skywalker, and his Jedi Knights have sensed. We may be dealing with a formidable opponent."

A bored expression came over Dasha's face,

"And you're just going to send us? Too dangerous to send your own soldiers? Too dangerous for your jedi? Or can they not find their shebs with two hands and a map?" She was being purposefully irreverent. Why should she show any deference to Chief of State she never voted for, never wanted? They were desperate, reaching out to people like her. They needed her more than she needed them. She just wanted them to know that.

    The Red Rancor, Coruscant

With a sharp intake of breath, Ric watched the lumbering form of the Besalisk approach with little regard to stealth; he shuffled through the other patrons as if he was a permanent fixture, always accustomed to throwing around his weight. While it wasn’t unusual to see a Besalisk in such a loathsome setting, Ric knew better than to think that it was a coincidence. He knew this particular Besalisk; he knew him all too well. It took all of his strength to not throw down his tab and disappear out the back entrance to avoid the confrontation. It’s not that he expected any kind of trouble, he just didn’t think he could stomach the creature’s vociferous personality. Not in his current mood, anyway.

I should’ve taken the time to vet my sources, he demurred with a scowl.

The only thing keeping him in his chair was the chance to find his son. That was all that mattered. To say he was desperate was an understatement...especially if he was agreeing to meet with Gabor.

“Hi, Jake,” he drawled with a wan smile, using the creature’s informal name. He idly set his caf mug aside and issued a sigh to hide his irritation. Already, the creature’s boisterous laugh had drawn unwanted looks from those sitting close by.

In his younger days as a field reporter, Ric had relied on people like Jake Gabor to get the job done. Not only did his hulking frame and brute strength prove advantageous for a war correspondent such as himself, but the creature held a wealth of information. He broke many stories through Gabor’s intricate network of contacts. If Gabor couldn’t track it down, then it probably didn’t exist. He was the best, and Ric was grateful to have him.

Over the years, the two had developed an unlikely friendship that extended beyond their professional relationship with the network, but when Ric made it big as a media personality and commentator for GNS, that all changed. He saw Gabor less and less and the two fell out of contact very quickly. With fame and fortune came a new lifestyle, and he no longer required the Besalisk’s services. He told him as much.

Was it harsh? Perhaps. But Gabor was a businessman first and foremost; it was easy to follow the money trail to the next best thing. What surprised Ric the most was seeing him come lumbering through that door and back into his life. He had never expected to see him again. And yet, here he was. Did he truly intend to help, or was this a setup for some cheap revenge?

“So, you were the one sending me illicit messages,” he continued with a hint of aversion in his voice. “After all these years, I never thought you’d respond to one of my probes. What did I do to deserve that kind of attention?”

Nearing the Chief of State’s Office, Coruscant.
In the busy streets of Coruscant, a young Jedi made his way to the Chief of State’s office. His cloak concealing his Lightsaber hilt in order to prevent it from being stolen. He could feel everyone around him, their fear of being abducted next. He knew that he had to act in order prevent others from being hurt, as was the way of the Jedi, as told by Jedi master Skywalker himself.

He made his way to the entrance of the Chief of State building. He paused outside the building, he was not use to doing dangerous missions by himself and because of this, his nerves were high. In moments like this he would do as he was told and reach out with Force, to touch the light of the planet, but instead, he felt the cold of the dark side and could hear the cackle of the Dark Lord of the Sith that ruled here.

He froze where he stood, his fear dominant. It was then he felt the warmth of the light side. Master Skywalker was reaching out to him with the Force to calm him. It was as if Master Skywalker was there in person placing his mechanical hand on his shoulder in reassurance. He let his cloak go into the wind, revealing his Jedi gear, which blended traditional Jedi robes with a new, more carefree look. He entered the office building where he greeted the staff, who, upon noticing his Lightsaber, directed him to where the briefing was taking place. From inside the briefing room, he could hear the brief occuring.

He recognised one of these voices being the sister of his Master, Leia Organa. This allowed him to feel a sense of comfort, knowing he would feel welcome. Despite this, he still felt a sense of unease about going in, like he missed his chance to be briefed, that was until, he heard another voice.

“Too dangerous for your Jedi? Or can they not find their shebs with two hands and a map?”

That insult set him off, who was she to insult the Jedi, the people who gave him a purpose in the galaxy. He opened the door to the briefing room and, with a confident grin and the glint of determination in his eyes, he apologised for his lateness.

“Sorry I’m late milady, I would have got here sooner, but, I had an assignment on Lola Sayu, but, now a Jedi is here to help, just like we’ll always be.”

"Alright Happy, lets power down, everything except the bare essentials. Take these nerf-herders by surprise."

Buck tightened the straps on his combat armor, and fixed his helmet's visor in position. He patted the dashboard of his X-wing, the Nexu, as it began to power down. Happy beeped in what could be assumed was a rude fashion. "Yeah Happy, I'm sure I don't want to turn off life-support. But you're a real pal for asking."

The Nexu, an olive green fighter with a fearsome looking set of fangs detailing the nose, began to drift. Buck used vectored thrusters to maintain position. Not much later the sensors began to beep, indicating incoming ships. Happy whirred and whistled. "As much fun as listening to you complain is, why don't you shut it back there," said Buck. Out of hyperspace emerged two Kihraxz fighters.

    "Right on time,"
Buck grinned. "Alright happy, prep power initialization, the two won't know what hit them."
Happy chirped in alarm, the sensors whined in warning of more ships. "What, there isn't supposed to be anyone else..."
Four more ships, Z-95 Headhunter Fighters, emerged from hyperspace not far behind the Kihraxzs. "Well, this just got a lot more interesting."

Just as she spoke, a young man, entered dressed in the robes of those so special of people, a Jedi.

"Sorry I’m late milady," He started, cocky smirk on his face. Using the proper address showing his loyalty."I would have got here sooner, but, I had an assignment on Lola Sayu, but, now a Jedi is here to help, just like we’ll always be."

    'Speak of Emperor.' she thought.

Slowly, lightly she clapped, it would be almost silent only the softest tapping.

'My hero', she thought mockingly half hoping he was reading her thoughts. A tongue full of poison was held, caged by her smirking mouth. Her mind however was free to spit vitriol. She did not hold anyone in much esteem, at least no one that would stand with a government that locked away her parents. She didn't buy into the whole 'New Jedi Order' that would bring light back to the Republic. Where she's been there wasn't much light coming. Crime still existed, people still hurt each other, and this darkness now prowled the streets, and took her friend.

She couldn't help but, wonder if this new, whatever it was, was caused by the Jedi, as they say the brightest lights cast the deepest shadows. She mused for a moment what the galaxy would be like with them, not just the jedi but, all who claim to touch the force, and manipulate it. It was a dream of someone either jealous of their power, or afraid of it.

    Dasha wouldn't say which.

She stopped her mocking applause returning her attention to the Chief of State.

"Any leads, other than the missing people?" she asked her voice just above a whisper, her gaze seemingly unconcerned with the new arrival. "Somewhere we can get started...unless we're expecting any other late arrivals?"

    Secondary character.

    Name: Sapetus Niluk

    Age: 32

    Gender: Male

    Species: Kalleran

Appearance: A long and lanky creature like the rest of his species, with green skin and black stripes lacing his body. His most striking features were his long fin on top of his head and his blood red eyes.

Personality: A cruel, spiteful man, Niluk looks down on everyone without the force, seeing them as simple minded. He desires nothing more than to see pain being inflicted on others and will stop at nothing to break the New Republic and see it’s citizens in pain. He finds intense enjoyment in being cruel and watching others suffer. He also has a strong hatred for being called a dark Jedi, as he finds the title demeaning.

    Occupation: Dark Side User

Weapons: Force Pike, adjusted to be longer so that he could hold it as a staff

Short bio: Born on Kaller into criminal lifestyle, Niluk would prove to be a master thief and go on to become a ruthless crime lord. This was the result of his powerful Force abilities, which he used to bolster his skills as a crime lord and thief. When the New Jedi Prder was established, Luke Skywalker was reluctant to allow him to join, noting his cruel demeanor, however, Skywalker saw a chance at redemption for the Kalleran and gave him a chance.

Niluk would develop his own powers and soon become bored with the Jedi, instead playing games with the members by manipulating them into falling prey to their own doubts and fears. He soon began to develop a superiority complex and a desire to see all living beings tear eachother apart. His actions in the NJO would result in him being exiled from the Order. In response, he relocated to the Sith Shrine beneath Coruscant and would frequently travel to the ruins of the Jedi Temple above it.
He would soon become a threat to the New Jedi Order and form multiple alliances with Lumiya, who held no respect for him, seeing him as a means to achieve her own plans.

In 15 ABY, he would lay a trap on the planet Lola Sayu, where he had set a number of charges on the abandoned citadel there and sent a distress beacon in the hopes of luring Luke Skywalker there so he could have him killed, in order to send the Jedi into disarray. This beacon would lure in only Oliver Whills, the prime target he chose for his cruel manipulations back on Yavin 4, due to him being seen as more vulnerable.

The attempt failed and Niluk shifted his attention back to the kidnappings on Coruscant. His attention had been on these events for quite some time, watching these events take place through the Sith alchemy and sometimes attempting to even watch these events with his own two eyes, though he would be unsuccessful in this regard. Now that a team was being assembled in order to stop these kidnappings, he realised that now the pieces were on the board, that a great game of Shah-Tezh, was about to begin.
