"Be prepared in case the first blast, only knocks out their shields." She advised. "Meaning we may have to either open fire ourselves, as soon as their shields drop, or send a second grenade in, right after their shields drop. Cece, are the destroyers close enough together, that we can get them both with the first hit?"

She pulled her blaster now, and dialled it up to max power, hearing a low whine from it, as its internals adjusted.

Dasha was getting more and more annoyed. She was cold, wet and frustrated. The entrance was right there, trap or no it was an entrance with a door. She could handle doors, or any sort of electronic security. That was her domain. Running on automatic she kept the group informed of the Mon Mothma arriving in system and disseminating information that came in. Once again she took a cross legged position behind one of the trees keeping her out of sight from the destroyer droids.

She reached out her hand grabbing one of the ion grenades. A few taps on her datapad and she had a rough idea of the blast radius. Sticking out only her datapad she took a holo with the built in holo-camera. There wasn't a flash because she wasn't an idiot, so that left the quality lacking, however it was enough for her to create a rough layout of the 'battlefield' and find the point that would at the very least catch both droids in the blast. If it would be enough was another matter.

"Here," She pointed to the spot on her holo. Then pointed as best she could between the pair of droids coming around the corner. "There...should get them both."

Sevrina felt the annoyance but alertness of the slicer, the readiness of the rest of the group. Better to balance efficiency with speed, she thought. Rushing could get them all in a situation they didn't want to be in.

Sevrina glanced at Dasha with thanks for the crucial position details of the droids, then looked questioningly at Mara, CeCe, Samantha, and Baille.

"So, how do we do this? Stealth plus accuracy?" She winked. "Who's up for blasting the droids into the atmosphere?"

Harte raised her hand. "You've got my vote!"

"Mine too." Samantha frowned and cocked her head, fancying that she could hear the roar of air buffeting past fast-moving objects, high up in the cloud cover. "Ya hear that? Backup is on its way!"

Doing some of the aimless whistling that he had learned from human counterparts, the Abednedan pilot took the landing barge through the cloud cover, having to rely on downward facing visual sensors to see the way down.

The thick night-time clouds cleared below them, and he reached out to send a message to the soldiers and medics contained within the single walker in the back.
"Guys, it is night-time where we are deploying. We will set down in about three minutes, so please extinguish cigarettes and put up seat trays until your stewardess comes around. Cockpit out."

Following the signal from the ground, Damen could see lights peeking through the darkness like stars, then the shape of structures, and a big wheel-type apparatus towering up from the rest.

He opened transmissions to his escort starfighters: "Rogue Leader and Rogue Wing from Rogue One Heavy. Many thanks for the assist. If they were going to fire upon us, I think they would have done so by now, so feel free to do your own thing."

    "Copy that.Good luck."

"There are a lot of life signs down there, so the ground team probably have the right place. There are some signs registering more than others, so you might want to watch yourself."

"Always. Thanks for heads up. Rogue Wing, uh, Kyp, did you get that? I'm thinking that roof looks like a nice landing spot. We can work our way down, whilst Mara and the others work their way up. What do you think?"

He could see the X-Wing peeling away to fly over the buildings.

"Meaning we may have to either open fire ourselves, as soon as their shields drop, or send a second grenade in, right after their shields drop. Cece, are the destroyers close enough together, that we can get them both with the first hit?" Samantha said. CeCe had to look again in order to give an answer.

But before she did, Dasha was already on track. She could understand the annoyance she had due to wanting to get this mission over with. She wanted to find her Auntie. Dasha and the others were here for a reason. They had to find the captives or it was too late...

Dasha pointed to something on her holo. "Here," She pointed to the spot on her holo. Then pointed as best she could between the pair of droids coming around the corner. "There...should get them both."

CeCe nodded while having one of the EMP grenades out. "Okay. Thanks Dasha." Peeking around the tree, she saw one of the droidekas. She breathed, hoping her training with her old mentor would pay off. She and he trained on taking out droids in a stealthy manner. But a droid with shields? She had to be precise about this.

"So, how do we do this? Stealth plus accuracy?" She winked. "Who's up for blasting the droids into the atmosphere?" Sevrina would say. Baille and Samantha agreed about blasting the droids. Then Samantha said something back-up. "Ya hear that? Backup is on its way!" CeCe was relieved. "Thank goodness... At least we have help now." However, unknown to her, a 'frenemy' would be on this mission as well. A guy powerful in the Force.

The young woman halfway stepped from behind her hiding spot and rolled the EMP grenade from her hand. The item rolled to where the nearest droideka was. She crossed her fingers, hoping it would go pass the shield. And it did! The EMP grenade made it pass the shield when it slowed down near the blue shield and passed it. Suddenly, the droideka began to malfunction with electricity surrounding it. Then it balled up, as if going into stasis.

"One down, one to go!" CeCe whispered happily to the others. She took out her EMP grenade and did the same to the other droideka. She had to be precise and make sure the droid was down. Both droids were out due to the EMP grenade, their blue shields down as well.

"Roof is good for me...…...can land on a credit if you need me too." Kyp responded with a hint of bravado. "As for working my way down, bring it on. I got nothing better on today." He angled his ship toward the roof and picked out a good landing spot. Not quite a credit sized one, but it would suffice.

Samantha did not need any prompting after seeing electrical energy arcing over the two droideka, dissipating their shields, and the two droids fold in on themselves.

She broke cover, and with her blaster held in a double-handed grip, she initially and instinctively aimed it at the warm-looking light inside that gaping front entrance, then dropped her arms to aim at the floor just ahead of her, and sprinted from the treeline to the corner of the building, to everyone's front and right, not stopping till she could touch the angled metal surface, and sidle round the corner, keeping her back close to the wall, so that she didn't step on, or hurt herself on the dead-looking droids at her feet.

They were either scrap metal, or they would soon shake off the ion charge, there was no way for her to tell.

She the sound of rushed footfall on gravel, and glanced to her right to see her cousin joining her.

"Wait for me!" Baille admonished, the PLX launcher on her back, clattering loudly in the silence, as it hit the building wall.

"Always." Looking around, Samantha could see that just a few metres ahead of them, was the base of the wheel that towered up into the darkness, and their were shiny three metre-long lozenge-shaped pods all around the thing. If they contained anything, was lost in the darkness, and anyway, her attention was taken by the side entrance in the main building, to her left.

    There was another way in!

Keeping a close eye on this new passage of ingress, she brought up her wristcom: "CeCe, Dasha, Girls. There is a way in, round here."

    Skywalker Shine Approved!

    Name: Voraan
    Age: 28
    Gender: Hermaphroditic (addressed as male)
    Species: Verpine
Appearance: Thin, bipedal insect, 1.9 meters tall, hardened green carapace with large insect eyes , 2 long segmented antennae.

Clothing/armor consists of metallic torso armor with worn lower body garments to satisfy “alien” concepts of decency. A small collar with a built-in speaker hangs around his neck for translating Verpine language into Galactic Basic and other languages (accent in Basic is able to be changed from standard to Imperial at will)
    Picture: (optional)
Personality: Every bit of a gear-head that his species is known for, Voraan revels in technology and its applications. Spare time is almost always spent inspecting, disassembling, rebuilding, and improving various gadgets he comes in contact with, whether he owns it or not. While not particularly skilled with ships, Voraan is most pleased with tinkering with weaponry and his own pet projects, like his comms yoke. Unable to directly speak Galactic Basic, he developed a prototype yoke that he wears around his thin neck to help translate his native Verpine into many different languages and dialects. Most of the time, this works very well, with only occasional mistakes.

While he’s personable and caring to those he’s close to, he’s not one to leave alone onboard a personal ship, unless you want your circuitry rearranged for “efficiency”.
    Occupation: Tinkerer
Weapon(s): Verpine Shatter Rifle prototype, SE-14r light repeating blaster, thermal detonators, vibro knife
Short Bio: After the creation of the new republic, Voraan left his home in the Roche System to visit other worlds which were previously off-limits due to Imperial regulation. Along the way, he was plugged into the Republic system as a potential contractor for weapons development and other civilian purposes.

While the work suited him, the remaining threat of Imperials and Sith, and his own species’ sympathies toward the Rebellion pulled him toward serving in a more direct, front-line capacity. While he has since avoided openly declaring support for the Rebellion, he has never been against directly helping Rebel operatives with munitions and ranged support. Voraan’s augmented Shatter Rifle, a staple firearm among his people, has been fitted with interchangeable parts to assist in long-range and close quarters engagements as the needs arise.

Voraan often carries with him a small droid as a personal assistant. Y7R8, a diminutive, floating data droid, is grey with yellow striping, and helps with logistics, transmitting them via radio waves to Voraan, who can hear them with his antennae. While the droid mostly maintains minimal personality, it, referred to as “he” by Vorran, often has its moments of surprising sarcasm and humor. This is likely due to programming glitches as a result of Voraan’s tinkering with the personality and speech cores.

The droids were down, good one problem solved. Now they just needed to get past the entrance. She moved to the main door datapad already out ready to jack into the system and override the lock. She was already half way to the door when the others found another entrance. She didn't stop to think again, time was of the essence. Coming around the corner she plugged in and started slicing her way in.

"Cover me." she said her eyes sweeping over the data pouring in. It should be easy, everything was easy for her.

Location: flying over alleged Sith Base

Luke smiled at his friend's response, sending back, "That's the spirit!"

Rolling his X-Wing over, he followed Kyp down to the roof of the main building, looking like a large dark grey rectangle, against the blackness of the surrounding area.

He deployed landing gear, and contemplated switching on the exterior lights to help see where he was going.

Unless the bad guys were heavy sleepers, there was no way that they hadn't already been detected.

The grandmaster decided not to be the weakest link - goodbye - and left them off, levelling his craft out and lowering her till he felt his landing skids touch the roof.

Luke shut down the systems, and released the seat restraints, sending guarded thoughts out to his jedi that should be here already, finding Mara and Sevrina, but still, no sign of Oliver.

    Where was he?

Mara's bright presence in the Force, alleviated some of his concern, and he could not help smiling again as he telepathed a message to her: Hey, Honey. Daddy's home!

Despite the seriousness of the situation, he was actually chuckling as his canopy hummed open, and Artoo enquired, green aurabesh flashing across the small screen, what was so funny.

The cousins' whispered exchange as to who the first of the team to join them, was soon answered as Dasha Astakhova scuttled round the corner, unexpectedly moving past them to the sealed door, and plugging her ever-present datapad into something.

With her around, you quickly realised that having data jacks as part of your exterior building design, was a bit of a security risk.

"Cover me." Dasha asked, as she perused the data lines that Samantha could just see rolling down a screen that was turned mostly away from her.

"Copy that." Samantha responded, stepping away from the wall to stand behind the slicer-in-charge, and deciding in her head that that was her role for now, and once they were inside, keeping Dasha safe. She raised her blaster, and played its' light shaft over the sides of nearby buildings, and the lowest pod of that Big Wheel type contraption, her light skittering across the glass.

She narrowed her eyes to help focus on something that she thought she saw there. Was that movement?

Not wanting to move from her position protecting their entry specialist, Samantha inclined her head to the right, and was about to call upon Baille when a deep roar from around the front of the ziggurat, echoed into the night, literally vibrating Samantha's ribcage.

"What was that?!" Harte blurted what Samantha had been about to ask herself.

She glanced back at her cousin to see her eyes as wide as saucers.

Whatever that was, she didn't want it round here, especially whilst they were stuck outside. She wanted to tell Dasha to work faster, but at the same time, didn't want to distract her.

    Roof

Dropping down to dark surface, which gave very slightly under his feet, Luke only grinned wider as he received Mara's curt, Stuff it, Farmboy.

As with thoughts shared between Force Sensitives, he also received some of the emotion behind the message, so felt her mix of annoyance and elation.

Then it was back to business as Kyp bounded over from his own parked starfighter. "Set to go, lead the way."

"Okay, we need to find a way inside. If we cannot find a hatch, a skylight, or an air vent, we will have to cut our way into the roof."

Kyp hadn't looked particularly lardy back on Yavin, yet Luke had felt the man's effect on the roof with each footfall when he had jogged across to meet him. Perhaps this hadn't been the best place to land, after all. Still, they were here now.

He lit his lightsabre, the lime-green energy blade a welcome illumination in the blackness, and pointed it towards the side of the roof where the Headhunter was parked. "You cast your Force Sense over there, and let me know if you find anything. I'll look over here. We'll give it a couple minutes, then we-"

A haunting roar worthy of a Tatooine Krayt Dragon, echoed up from below. He shot a shocked glance at Kyp. "What in Oseon, was that?"

    BONG

Luke swayed slightly as the building shook, but sideways, as if something heavy had careened into a wall or door, somewhere below them.

You two be careful down there. Skywalker sent to Mara and Sevrina, as he stepped slowly away from Kyp, scanning the mossy rooftop with both the Force and the little illumination from his lightsabre.

He lowered his blade to scan the ground. It was green and slimy looking yet not slippery. The roar was unfamiliar to him. "What was that?" He asked Luke in a hushed tone. He closed his eyes for a moment reaching out to sense the supplier of the sound. "It's angry and hungry." He added once he touched it. "And doesn't want visitors."

    Dromund Kaas Holding Cell

The shield wall hummed and shone a light blue, deceptively innocent-looking as it hung in space between Voraan and the rest of the cell block. Of course, too much tampering and it would give a nice zap to anyone touching, which the Verpine had figured out quickly after arrival. He had been unceremoniously tossed in alongside other prisoners, and in his eagerness to find out what he was dealing with, he had decided to try rattling his cage with a fist, only to be zapped back.

The group he had been with had gotten careless and wandered straight into unfriendly skies, only to be met with tractor beams and intense questioning. Despite not really knowing who he was dealing with, Voraan kept his mandibles shut, but his eyes open. It earned him some pain with interrogators, but he kept silent, biding his time.

A shield wall, and nothing more.

Voraan sat looking it over, scanning the edges and corners for access, but to no avail. Of course it had been designed for access from outside, which was a problem for him inside. Less so for a lone data droid, however. Voraan’s antenna twitched as he picked up the frequency of Y7R8 floating along the ceiling toward his cage, prompting him to give a quick look around outside. He had done his best to learn guard routines and schedules, and this was the best time to try something stupid.

You want to move a little slower there, Y7? The guards could come back.

His antennae twitched as he silently radioed to the droid using one of the many gifts of his species. Verbal speech was tough at times, but the insect species was in constant contact over radio waves from their antennae. Thankfully it worked with some droids too.

Speed is counterproductive to stealth. Excessive speed will increase risk of detection by 8.05889 –

Yes, yes, whatever! Just pop the lock so I can find my things. I heard company on the roof, and it sounded like Republic tech. We need to get to them. Quick.

The diminutive droid finally reached the wall space above the cell and dropped into view, the grey and yellow appearing to glow in the light from the barrier. Suddenly, a loud roar ripped through the silence, and the ground shook, causing Voraan to freeze and look around.

Oh that can’t be good…might have bought us an extra moment, though. Hurry!

The data droid zipped over to the control panel, a long data cable flicking out and making contact with the terminal. In a moment, the hum died down, and the blue wall disappeared, letting him dart out before it reappeared. Unless someone looked right in, it appeared untampered.

Not sparing a moment, he hurried for the lockers that held his possessions. As he went, every corner was checked, possible patrols avoided, and Y7R8 floated contently behind him, watching his back. Unsure of what was up with that loud noise and vibration, they tried to be silent and careful. Voraan was not going back in that cell, if he had anything to say about it.

At last, they made it to the prison impound, where his gear and shatter rifle would most definitely be held.

Damen kept a close eye on the distance to the ground as he took his great craft in for the landing, the distance in metres counting down into the low double figures.

He knew that there was a forward team of New Republic investigators on the ground, but not that they had breached the perimeter fence that he could see down the drastically sloping bow under his cockpit windows, so decided to help out with a bit of forward motion as he took the ship down, sliding into the energy fence, ripping it asunder and crushing it as he landed.

Bright multi-coloured energy coruscated over the dark blue-black flanks of his craft, before fading as as the fence shorted itself out, the view out of his windows dimming from the short-lived brightness, back into night-time again.

Leaning towards a voice-pickup that connected him to the pilot crew within the kneeling All Terrain Armoured Transport in the back of his craft, he reported, "Stand by guys. We are down safely, and I will open her up when I'm satisfied that it is safe to do so."

    "Copy that."

Movement from outside caught his attention, and he glanced out to see the dark-blue finish of the front of the main building, where increased amount of light was spilling out from the huge portcullis rising at the front of it, and he could see something just inside the square door as it rose into it's housing.

"What is that?" He murmured to himself, squinting across the grassy courtyard.

Baille shuffled closer to the opening, and as she was doing so, she could see fitfully flashing light cast over Dasha and her datapad, as the lumis inside the entrance, reacted to her proximity, and started switching on. It was fully lit by time she was able to peer around the edge of the doorway, and glance inside. "
Metal lined walls and ceiling, open door at the far end of a box-shaped lobby area. Conveyer belt that leads out this way." She glanced at Dasha. "How do you want to play this, us going in first, or following you?"

The former TIE pilot thought that the sight was a combination of inviting, and ominous, with the darkness beyond the open doorway at the far end, providing the latter feel.

She announced to her cousin, that there was an open door at the far end.

IC: Sandy Reynolds (npc), Darth Drokk (nrc), Luke Skywalker (npc), Clawdia, Sith Base security office, Roof, and front courtyard, respectively
    Location: Dromund Kaas

Sandy, the blonde-haired human female that was not really meant to be in the security office, picked her chair off the floor, put her hand down the back of her grey, sweat-stained frock, and slid back into the chair, and looked across the table to the dark interior of the charcoal black hood, whilst trying to suppress her dear of it.

She had been captured by these monsters on Ord Mantell, having the early satisfaction of telling her little boy to run, and not yet seeing him among the captives.

Having seen enough holo-thrillers on the subject, she had determined to try to get these people to think of her as a person, rather than an asset, or material for whatever they were planning to do with her and her people.

There were several repeater screens behind Darth Drokk, as the robed being before her, called himself, and she could see that different parts of this building, were shown.

She spotted movement on a screen. It looked like someone wearing green body armour creeping down a corridor, so Sandy added that to the list of guards that she might have to contend with if she got out of this.

Her gaze narrowed as she refocussed on the figure. Was that in fact an exo-skeleton?

What was that? Her thoughts were interrupted by her stomach growling.

"If you want to eat, ask the questions, Career Advisor." Rasped the hooded figure, referring to her claim that she held that role in a school, and could help him with what was bothering him.
He raised a black-bandaged hand from under the table, and stabbed his index finger down onto the top of the table.

She dropped her gaze and rested her right forearm on the table, pausing to think. Then she sat back.

"So, what do you see yourself bringing to the Knights of Ren?"

    Roof

Luke could sense life forms in the building below him, in concentrations of large groups, smaller groups, and....there was a much larger life form down there. Probably what had roared.

"What was that?" Kyp asked in a hushed tone, clearly feeling as intimidated as Luke himself felt.

"Easy there," Luke cautioned, remembering Master Yoda's warning that fear was one of the emotions that led to the Dark Side. ""Take a breath, count to ten. The Force flows through us, Kyp."

Kyp closed his eyes, and Skywalker could feel his student reaching out to sense the supplier of the sound. "It's angry and hungry." He added once he touched it. "And doesn't want visitors."

""Well, it's going to get some." Luke determined, swiping at the roof surface before his own feet, the squishy layer of dark-green moss catching fire as his bright blade dipped into the ceiling material, the reddish-yellow molten material adding a welcome light to that already provided by their light blades.

"We'll cut through here." He instructed, as he stepped back a pace, drawing the glowing plasma plade through the roof. "Start on a perpendicular line, and we'll cut a square that we can open and drop through." He wasn't sensing anyone immediately beneath him.

    Outside

The owner of that roar, something that looked like a rancor, but with very short hind legs like a bulldog, thick muscle-bound arms that seemed four times the size of the rear limbs, with massive, gnarled-looking claws.

Planting its arms onto the grass and pulling the rest of the body after it, and although it was making a beeline for the AT-AT barge, it halted after two paces, as if taking an interest in the the trees where Sevrina, Mara and Barula were hiding.

It's front limbs bent slightly as it put its weight on them and roared again, strongly fetid breath and thick gobbets of saliva, blowing towards where the ladies were hiding.

IC: Sevrrina and Mara -- Noticing the Source of the Roar

Sevrina's eyes widened. "Look at that thing!" She exclaimed, barely wanting to breathe lest it draw the creature's attention.

Mara grimaced. "If only we had trank darts although it would probably take several to knock it out." She glanced at CeCe. "Any suggestions? I need hardly say this puts a snag in the plan..."

It seemed that whatever the huge monster had sensed in the woods, was just a minor distraction, for it paid it no more mind, and scampered the hundred yards or so to their right, where the barge was, and proceeded to claw at its' dark metal flanks, roaring its anger and frustration.

Mara's shoulders and altogether stance relax a bit but she kept a wary eye out on the creature for any telltales. Sevrina gave a more unmixed reaction.
"WHEW!" Sevrina whooshed out in relief as the creature seemed to forget they were there. "Do we take advantage of the lull to go in now?" She asked, looking at CeCe Barula.
