oh I didn't know they got cut off because it felt pretty finale to me inasmuch that it was a hellova cliffhanger, although now that I think about it the individual character arcs were still ongoing. I was just caught up in the ending I Was like "huh, okay!" (the episode count seems to vary on each DC Universe show so wasn't sure since it was only 9 how it matched up)

This was a lot of fun. Obligatory language warning and adult themes.

feels weird to add this in an amph thread, but michael rosenbaum recently revealed on his pod that he's fighting skin cancer. docs are removing an impacted area of his thigh, and he believes it was caught early.

also, if i haven't said it before, his podcast is wonderful. one of my current favorites.

I think Benoist having a kid is probably a factor but also probably the biggest concern would be extending contracts and pay bumps for everyone (the show has been shedding and replacing cast members since like S2) and CW is all like "hey we have a Superman and Lois Show!"

Basically as long as Lex flops over to the spin off show and they can work in a cameo (maybe Supergirl shows up on the crossover episodes instead of wrapping her up) I'm fine with that. Benoist as Kara and Cryer as Luthor are the best things to come out of it. So hopefully those characters can transition/cameo on the next show.

The rumor is a combination of bad ratings + Melissa wanting to try new things which lead to a mutual decision to end it.

And honestly yeah, just bring Lex to Superman & Lois and if there are any others that want to continue on, send them to join the Legends.

Anyone have any idea if Arrow and the Canaries is moving forward? Wonder if they might do it now with Supergirl ending. If Batwoman ends up failing to catch on after its major shakeup, only Legends would be left with a female lead - and really that's more of an ensemble team anyway. Plus the future setting could allow for anyone from the Supergirlverse to join (like Alex)

Does make you wonder how much longer The Flash has left.

I wonder if they'll work in Melissa's pregnancy and maybe Kara having a kid and retires to be a mother, basically going from flighty single young adult to responsible parent. Clark and Lois retired to raise a kid and then apparently it became 2 kids that jumped years in ages to be more TV adventure friendly after Crisis. also it could be a Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow type of homage, but that would leave her powerless like Clark was in that story and no more crossover/cameos. Just don't kill her off like Ollie! (I'm actually okay that Ollie died if only because someone is supposed to die in Crisis and their "Flash" death was kind of a cop out after half a season of "Barry's gonna die!!!")

sad to see melissa go, but her impact on this cw-verse has been immeasurable. she really made the character her own, and handled the network switch and general challenge of playing a fully realized supergirl on a low-budget show brilliantly.

I've only seen S1 of Supergirl and I thought it was terrific. Very entertaining and MB is great in the lead role.

    Hope to catch up someday.

Easiest solution is she goes to the future to join the legion. Leaves her to return for cameos via Time Travel etc.

I think it depends on the Flash movie. If that stays on schedule and comes out within a couple years, there's a good chance they'd want to capitalize on that and see if it either boosts their ratings enough for further seasons or gives them something to go out on a high note with.

My hope for the future of these CW series - keep the (good) actors, move to HBO Max, use the 21 episode budget on a tight 10 episodes (or less.)
Stretch goal - incorporate crossover into a 2 hour movie event
Stretch goal 2 - incorporate these characters into the DCEU

batwoman has cast victor zsasz for season two - a relatively unknown actor with credits from gotham and daredevil, alex morf.

will be interesting to see how far they let the character go. i think the gotham version was quite good, and unique.

I mean, anything Anthony Carrigan does at this point is quite good and unique... but his performance on Gotham was really quite something. And Morf seems to have roughly the same "that guy" set of credentials on the same shows Carrigan did before he was Zsasz...

i think we're more likely to see a gotham-esque portrayal of the character, as a hitman. if the traditional zsasz was too much for fox, it's going to be far too much for the cw.

That's a Zazz trifecta with Gotham, Batwoman and Birds of Prey! Carrigan was great and I think Gotham knew they had something great with him before he blew up on Barry because they brought him back for an episode in the final season.

So do you think they are using Swamp Thing to just fill slots till everything is back or trying to give it a chance with a wider audience like they did with Stargirl?

Pretty much filling slots. I think Stargirl will be on CW full time starting with Season 2.

I know Stargirl will. They weren't expecting it to pass their expectations. I personally am very excited about it. I really loved the first season.

There is no more DC Universe, so yes it's going on CW.

Stargirl still doesn't have a network in Canada, figures that the final DC Universe show is the only one without a Canadian network, maybe like Supergirl or Titans it'll get the full season on Netflix.(I could have potentially watched it on CW when it aired - I get a LA CW network broadcast - but I was lazy and expecting a Canadian network to grab it) But Stargirl has been over for awhile and Titans gets added like a week later after the DC Universe run finished. I mean Showcase aired freaking Pennyworth and Swamp Thing fer crissakses!

any way CW DC shows are making January premiere like they originally thought? I know they started filming already but Vancouver testing is prioritized and asymptomatic individuals are low on the list. Production on the CW shows even stopped for a few days.

Well Supernatural is already rolling out their final episodes (they resumed filming a couple of months ago to get those last eps done), so if they can keep their casts isolated and relatively COVID free, it's possible they can make the January premieres.
