Just as a side note, their liver cheese is made from 100% cage-free horses.

I remember reading about this in an article by Guardian columnist George Monbiot, several months back. FTR, George Monbiot is a vegan.

All jokes aside, if cultured meat can be produced economically, be healthy to eat, and be accepted by the slack-jawed masses who want their dead cow on their plate, whatever it takes, then this really is a technological breakthrough that could greatly contribute towards reducing the pressure on precious land resources.

I advocate a plant-based diet for everyone, but it is simply not realistic to expect everyone to switch to one in the foreseeable future; perhaps never. This could be an incredibly important breakthrough; especially when you consider just what percentage of land is, not only taken up raising animals, but raising the crops they eat.

That's a relatively common ethical stance around here: go out and shoot a moose or a couple of wild boars once a year, then only eat that meat until the next hunting season.

As for cultured meat, I'm all for it, for ethical reasons. Hell, I'd probably eat it every once in a while, and I haven't had meat in 18 years.

I've lost all cravings for meat and there are satisfactory plant-based substitutes, so I probably wouldn't eat it even though it's technically ethical.
