glad I could provide entertainment. Can’t say the same about your posts as I haven’t read any, but I’m sure I’d die laughing unintentionally.

No need to get so antsy. There was no malice in my post and obviously you aren't spoiled enough to get the context. Come back to it after you have seen the movie.

It is quite severe this time, when even crappy movie pics have been posted on Reddit. It sure looks like it is LFL falsely leaking rejected endings to distract fans.

On a serious note, after 4 movies since 2012, I believe we will always have these fans who dislike so much the leaks that they will always prefer a conspirative theory rather than accepting the leaks. I will never get how these fans do not suspect their own biases are misguiding then so badly after so many failed theories.

But at this point it is just fun to contemplate.

I just hope that emotional scene that Ridley was talking about, is the one of her hugging Finn and Poe.

It would be cool if Rey was a Palpatine and a Skywalker. Basically, we could learn that Palpatine created the Skywalkers and did the same thing with Rey. So they are all one big family.

Just think. once apon a time there were people assuming this cast were being set up for a long series of films after this trilogy.

Daisy Ridley: "The connection that was made [between Rey and Kylo Ren], and the false connections, what is done cannot be undone. But story-wise, it's so major that it's very contentious, as you can see [due to the controversy surrounding the two characters]." (SciFi Now magazine Issue 165)

    Daisy Ridley:
"[If I had to choose a line from a past Star Wars film that would be key to Rey's story going forward, it would be...] Do you know what's weird? I'm just getting that Maz line: 'The belonging you seek is not behind you...it is ahead.' That one came to my mind." "I feel amazingly spoiled that the first thing I did was such a great character. It's not that she's a 'strong female character'. But you can understand where she's coming from. You're going through the journey with her. It also feels right to end here, because there's no way you can carry on after this film. It's an epic ending to the saga." "This is the end of the Skywalker saga. So the film will come out, and we'll all go our separate ways. I mean, for now, it really is the end of the saga. But who knows? (smiles) Because nothing really ends." (Total Film magazine December 2019)

All right, taking a break from Jedi Fallen order and saw this:

What did JJ Abrams pitch that Daisy Ridley shot down...and why did he pitch it if even he thought it wasn't a great idea? Is this an example of spitballing where you just toss out ideas and they then collectively came to the conclusion that this idea just wouldn't work? Was this an idea being....pushed by the suits at Lucasfilm or Disney and he needed Daisy Ridely's "H*** no." to convince them to abandon the idea, or was it something he thought would work but after chatting with Daisy realized he was mistaken?

    I want to know...

She did say the story kept changing.

Daisy Ridley: “Yes [I was surprised] and no [I wasn’t surprised by where J. J. Abrams took Rey’s storyline with Kylo Ren]. I was surprised because I had a meeting with J. J. like before the script had sort of become what it was – even though it was still moving pieces while we were filming – so I heard that then I heard something different and I was…and it was all sort of developing as we went and…so I was surprised but it felt for me very satisfying. Like in general I think all the emotional stuff, like the whole film it just felt really satisfying. Everything felt right. And J. J.’s so open to everything that if you have a thought about something, you have a conversation and you try other stuff.” (April 12, 2019) (archive)

Daisy Ridley: “J. J. [Abrams] was like, ‘Hey, want to meet up?’ I was like, ‘Sure.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I want to hear the story [of Star Wars Episode IX].'” “Yeah, my friend now, [J. J. Abrams], he said, ‘You want to meet up? I’ll tell you about it.’ I was like, ‘Sure.’ This was a few months before we started. And we were in a public, you know, cafe and he fully told me the story [from] start to finish, and he was speaking at a normal volume, and I was like, ‘People can hear us,’ but regardless, the story changed. So like, he told me the thing, and then like a few months later it changed.” “Yeah, [I was happy with the ending.] It’s epic. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It’s very exciting.” (June 26, 2019)

Daisy Ridley: “Well J. J. told me what was gonna happen [in Episode IX before filming began] and then he changed his mind. So I knew what was gonna happen for like a week and then he was like, ‘Oh that’s changed.’ I was like, ‘Okay…’ So then he told me something else and then the script, you know, it was like shifting and developing as we were doing it, but for the most part he told me what was gonna happen and then things were added and I was like (shocked face), ‘Since when is this happening?’ and he’s like, ‘Oh yeah we had a really cool idea…’ [It’s] so cool.” (August 24, 2019)

Abrams in general seems to be a very collaborative creator, possibly as an offshoot of his TV days, and he’s often incorporating people he’s worked with before, probably not just because they’re his friends but also because he trusts them.

However, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have extreme curiosity as to what weird off the wall or unusual ideas he throws around while making Star Wars films, especially considering his tendency to try and ape whole plot points and ideas elsewhere.

It seems the film basically does attempt this merge. Rey being a Palpatine but having the spirit of a true light side of the Force Skywalker.

Strange though for his collaborative nature considereing for TFA apparently he didn’t work that closely with the Story Group, and the General Lucasfilm Brain trust same way Rian, Gareth, Gilroy, Howard, Lord and Mill did.

Maybe that changed in 9 though given how it seems world building wise they are going more in universe stuff like B-1’s and what not.

Granted i’m Curious if JJ is secretly a Dark Empire fan or Chris Terrio cuz...Someone has to bring this up that they did the Emperor returns in a comic.

TFA’s production look like it was dominated by the time crunch eventually leading to Kasdan and Abrams just shutting everyone else out and making their script. That’s part of the reason Bad Robot was so heavily involved; Abrams was using his people instead of LFL’s to try and make sure the movie, which was his responsibility, unfolded the way he expected it to.

And Abrams’s collaborative style seems mainly a set-focused one, instead of one that would more heavily feature the Story Group in the pre-production phases. Plus, it certainly sounds from Rian Johnson’s comments that the Story Group was initially seen just as an advisory group that could be easily dismissed if so desired.

I wouldn’t be surprised if LFL would now rather have the Story Group brought in a little bit more, or at least be more directly tied into the storytelling apparatus. And I genuinely think that Kennedy and LFL may have decided that the “pass the baton” idea was bad around the time TLJ was done and Trevorrow was getting fired; and for the record, this isn’t meant as disparagement of TLJ *here*, since I’m thinking that him getting a Trilogy was intended as a course correction of the BTS drama they’d been expericneing with all the movies because of the different directors.

True point true point....While i did read your previous post about Bad Robot being still heavily involved in TROS, it seems to me with things like the Ghost and B-1 Battle Droids that perhaps they are being consulted a bit more.

(And since all this Palpatines stuff does connect a bit more to things that I have been thinking for a while in canon-We could talk more on that in the New Rumor Thread)

Granted i do no how much crunch time happened for Abrams and Terrior this go around and if Terrio perhaps is a bit of a link to the wider Star Wars mythology given I heard he is a bit of a research guy and sounds to me far more open to various mediums and the wider universe then Kasdan who is well...Kasdan.

Just curious if this wil be more Lucasfilm Bad Robot 50-50 production now that Lucasfilm apparatus is more up and running by this point.

What a fantastic image of Rey. One of the best I’ve seen. Character poster worthy, IMO.
