In fact, in ROTJ Ben says "Yoda will always be with you". This seems like it should be interpreted as canon. I'm not sure what happened with the Zahn thing.

We know that originally C'baoth ( CORRECT spelling ) was supposed to be an Obi-Wan clone, but that was vetoed. For some reason, in addition to this, Obi-wan could not be in the series at all, except in one last appearance. That smacks of a decision handed down from above at the time ( 1988? ) and, if so, it was probably wrong.

On the other hand Qui-Gon is seemingly absent in the OT.... [face_thinking]

since Yoda died 4 years after Ben, shouldn't he still have been able to appear to Luke for 4 years after the Thrawn trilogy, longer than OB1?

and Vader can still appear to Jacen in the NJO era!

    OB1 just got bored

I guess, story-wise, you don't really need more than one Force ghost.
With Ben as a Force ghost, you don't need Qui-Gon. Presumably, with Anakin as a Force ghost, you no longer need Ben.

Plus Qui-Gon would have little relevance to Luke.

"Hi Luke, I got some stuff to teach ya. Way back when, I demanded that the Jedi let me train your pops, then I got cut down by a n00b Sith."
