Darth Plagueis Novel by Luceno --- Canceled!

I think this is good.

A Muun Plagueis doesn't make Plagueis look bad, it makes the Muun look good.

 

Awesome. I was worried that we wouldn't see Luceno for a while.

Well, we won't-- this won't hit shelves for another two and a half years.

Name speculation? I say

Darth Plagueis: For Love or Muuny: A Novel of the Old Republic.

 

A Muun? Wow.

Might have to pick this one up in...two and a half years.

 

Well, Muun's aren't that bad for evil.

Especially if you've seen San Hill's Evil grin in "Visionaries", that's rather twisted IMO.

 

This is, in my eyes, an utter catastrophe of the third-highest order (don't ask what the first two are).

First off, providing backstory for Palpatine... bad idea. Nothing can be said, done, or thought of to make Palpatine any better of a character. I don't want to know what he was like as a child, teen, young adult, untrained Sith apprentice, semi-trained Sith apprentice, trained Sith apprentice, or any other variety of the not-most-powerful-Sith-Lord-ever. All it can do is lamify his character more than any Dark Empire can do.

Secondly, Darth Plagueis... do we really need to know anything about him?

Just the fact he's a Muun has lowered my outlook of him.

Ah well, there's still a chance it can be cancelled.

CURSES.. no Tie Fighter, or Imperial Commando.. and you think they could pick something more threatening than a Muun... I mean can they even bite you?

 

I can't wait to see the cover art for the book. Do you think if an artist has already been agreed upon for the cover, he is a little nervous by the news that he will have to paint a Sith Muun?

 

Odds are they'll stay with the 'safe' imagery and just have Palpy's face plastered on it.

 

Sidious didnt appear threatening during most of the PT and look at his scorecard!

Thats not really threatening.. It looks more like the Joker's grin in Batman rather than an "evil" grin

 

I actually quite dissapointed in this. Like Yoda, I don't WANT to know about the younger Palpatine, nor about Plagueis.

Think hard about it, ladies and gentlemen. Really hard. Darth Sidious Master. PALPATINE'S master. THE EMPERER'S master. The Sith lord who was so powerful he could use the force to influence the midiclorians to create...life and keep the ones he cared about from dying..is a MUUN!?!?!

Well I'm glad we'll get some Palpatine backstory but...this will take time for me to get used to...

Its different, creative and unexpected and I admit can turn out to be VERY VERY VERY interesting...But still...a MUUN!??!?!

Yes...it will take time to grow on me...as another poster here said..it could either destroy the Sith image or turn the Muuns into a pretty badass race.

Hmmm, imagine a yellow eyed darker skinned Muun in a dark Sith cloak....

Well a lot of people do want to know, and there is no reason why it shouldn't be done.

Him being a Muun seems a bit weird at first, but when I think of it again it starts getting cooler and cooler. As I said before:


Plagueis being a Muun doesn't tarnish Plagueis, it illuminates the Muun.

 

Sounds like it could be a really good book. Luceno talked about this a while ago. He wanted to do a book where both Qui-Gon and Plagueis are searching for immortality. He'll probably delve into the whole Anakin creation thing too. I hope that remains ambigious.

Palpatine is a fun character and Luceno does a great job with him. I hope he doesn't write him with some crackpot motivation like that crap Zahn wrote for him.

It's true, it would be nice if his experiments weren't being done for an "honorable" purpose, rather than just gaining power.

 

My head is spinning with all the stuff that's been going on in the SW universe this week. I trust Luceno, though. This is gonna be one incredible read.

It will be interesting to see how Sidious' relationship with Plagueis sets up his later hatred of all things non-human...

 

I wonder how long Luceno has had this all planned, considering the Plagueis quotations he sprinkled throughout Dark Lord.
