It's not Heir to the Empire.

    Ahsoka's Heir to the Empire.
This is The Last Command. But it'll be so artistically done. ;)

So if this is the big Filoniverse crossover then I assume it will get the earliest (2025) release date.

Chinoy’s film is the 2025 film. There’s still quite a bit of the TV series left to come. We know we’re at least getting Mando season 4, we have Ahsoka and Skeleton Crew. I’m guessing this might be the third one after Chinoy and Mangold’s films.

I hope Luke in his prime will show up.

He deserves if after what happened to him in the ST.

It’s also the only chance to see him alive film wise because the next two are dawn of the Jedi and post ST with Rey. Still I hope Mark returns in the Rey film as a force ghost.

Deserved. “The Jedi” is my favorite live action thing from the Disney era.

Kudos to @TCF-1138 for getting the gears turning on this one, but the more I think about it the more convinced I am that this movie is going to be a Disney+ exclusive rather than a theatrical release. My reasoning:
    1. As of now, Lucasfilm has Star Wars films scheduled for December 2025 and December 2027. Let's assume that these dates remain, and that no dates are added for 2026 and 2028 (it doesn't seem like we'll go back to annual releases, especially with Bob Iger back as Disney's CEO), so that means the next possible date would be... December 2029.

    2. Everything we've heard indicates that Obaid-Chinoy's film is closest to the starting line, so I'm going to presume that's the 2025 release. Now, James Mangold isn't the kind of guy you announce for a movie that won't come out until the end of the decade, over six years from now. So let's say that his film is December 2027, a reasonable 4.5 years away, and just in time for the 50th anniversary of the series.

    3. That would put Filoni's film at December 2029, which seems way too far down the line to announce the end of these New Republic-era stories when everything we're seeing indicates the end is coming sooner rather than later. Unless, of course, you make it a Disney+ exclusive release, at which point you can put it out whenever the hell you want.

    4. That also helps ease a serious issue that TV-to-movie stories have. Fans of the series often think, "Why am I paying to see a two-hour episode of a series I've been getting on TV for years?", and you run the risk of limiting accessibility for people who haven't even seen the TV series. There isn't a 1:1 overlap between casual audience members who absolutely will see a Star Wars film in theatres, and those who are still casual but willing to invest hours of time into watching several seasons of TV. Asking people to watch, at minimum, three seasons of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and Skeleton Crew (plus all of the animated series they tie into, like The Clone Wars and Rebels) to get the most out of a one-off movie sounds like a lot of homework for the general audience, who make up the bulk majority of box office receipts.

    5. MSW has indicated that pre-production is ramping up for season 4 of The Mandalorian, but that some crew members are unsure of what they're making, with some assuming it's actually a second season of The Book of Boba Fett, which doesn't seem like a thing that Lucasfilm is making. My guess as to why that would be is that whatever they're prepping for features locations and characters from both series... but what if it's neither? What if they're actually getting ready to shoot this movie, which will tie in plotlines and character arcs from everything in this era? That wouldn't be unprecedented, considering crew members initially thought they were working on Mando season 3, when in actuality it was TBOBF.

"Dave Filoni’s will focus on the New Republic, and close out the interconnected stories told in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Disney+ series".

What exactly is the interconnected story between TBOBF and the other shows other than the two Mandalorian episodes that appeared in TBOBF for some baffling reason?

Luke please, as an adaption of Heir to the Empire he has to appear!

With the bigger movie budget I hope they use real sets instead of the volume. It'll give it a more cinematic feeling and set it apart from the shows. The volume is good sometimes, idk if the shows would even be possible to make budget wise without it but sometimes you feel that lack of space (especially in Kenobi).

The common thread through all the series is that the Imperial Remnant is rising, with TBOBF reiterating how little control the New Republic has on outlying systems. I could also very well see Boba Fett's semi-criminal empire offering aid to the New Republic during a climactic battle.

Since this is "closing out" the story, I wonder how much ST prequeling/salvaging Filoni will do, with the rise of the FO, resurrected Palps/Snoke, etc.

What I'd give to see Snoke kill Ahsoka and Ezra.

Good for Filoni, very happy for him and excited to see what he can achieve on a more muscular budget. It'll be a tall task to unify so many of the story threads across all these different series.

It was only a matter of time before Baby Yoda made his way to the big screen…

Happy that Filoni is finally getting his shot at a real movie. I met him back in 2014, before Rebels even came out. Nice guy. At the time, I wasn’t taking the animated stuff as seriously as i should’ve, and hadn’t watched ATLA yet, so I didn’t know just how cool and important Dave was. If only I knew then what he would go on to do…

Oh that'll happen, but then Dave Filoni will appear with a gallon sized cowboy hat. He won't say a single word, but he'll turn to the audience, wink, take off his hat, and backup versions of Ahsoka and Ezra will immediately jump out of it.

I can already see the Variety headline: “Heir to the (Lucas) Empire” how Dave Filoni went from tv producer, to blockbuster director, to president of Lucas Film in only 4 years” =D=:p

Honestly I hope Ahsoka dies in a heroic fashion.

It would be very strange if she was still alive during the ST and sat out that conflict. Also odd for her to be the only living voice Rey hears in a sea of dead Jedi voices.

But can Filoni….let go? Ashoka has enough years that she was alive, that even if she truly dies in this film, that’s not the end of more stories. After all Vader died in 1983……

If I had to make an educated guess, I’d say that of the three films announced today, this one has the highest probability of getting finished.

What should have happened 8 years ago, happens now. Dave Filoni directing the next chapter in the SW mythos.

And not short enough it was.

Let's hope this will begin to make things right.
