Hey, that's great! Anybody into Speadskating? I went to the World Cup this weekend, it was great. Apolo took the gold on Saturday but he had a really bad race on Sunday. He barely placed second in the semi-finals, he wipped out in finals, and was disqualified in the relay races. Rusty was also disqualified in the relay races but protested it, cuz they accused him of something he didn't do, so he got the bronze. But yeah, that was the first time I saw speed skating. It was awesome!

Yeah, Happy Halloween! :)

I already say hooray, but congrats again, Matt. :D

Just an FYI, I'm cutting back on my time on the boards until I graduate, so I'm not sure how much I'll be around.

Bria would have been a great character if she wasn't such a jerk and slept with and used Han to get funding for her own cause. Aside from that whole deal, I liked her character, going from a naive rich girl to a strong character.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinon. :)

My Halloween was fun. We only had 3 trick or treaters, and they all came at once, but I had a friend over and we had pizza while watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Ealier in the day we'd been almost the only two in costume at work so I think we stand a good change at the costume contest. :D

That's likely the best response I've ever gotten from someone with a different opinion from my own! Thanks.
Not that we're that different, of course. I do like Bria, but there were some aspects that I didn't like.

My Halloween was quiet. NO trick or treaters, it rained and I had to get to bed early because I had Resort Orientation at Disneyland the next day. So, it's been crazy. Finished LOB Training yesterday and have OTJ Training on Saturday and Sunday. Keep you all posted on that.

Very cool about the short-track, Crystal! I only really see speed skating when the Olympics are on, not a widely broadcast sport. But who knows? That may change!

If my opinion counts for anything, after Thrawn and Mara, Bria is my favorite EU character. It's just a facinating character evolution and keep in mind, the two times she hurt Han is because she didn't have any choice. The first was because she realized her addiction was holding him back and she just couldn't do that to him. The second was unfortunatly a decision made for a greater good. Oh, and for the record, the sex was love, not lust. My opinion, take it for what you will.

The first time she hurt Han, I can understand. I don't know honestly if she really did have to leave him, but it's possible that it was the only way, so I accept that.
The second one was not a good thing to do to someone she's supposed to love. I think she used and betrayed Han in order to obtain help for her own cause. It was weird that she somehow expected him not to be too angry and walk away once he finds out, and yet she didn't tell him about it until after she'd gotten what she needed from him. I think that's unfair. As for the love, I'm sure it was something more than lust, but not love. But then, I've some pretty strict ideas on what love is, and I don't think she really acted in a way that puts her beloved before herself and anyone else. thus I don't think it was any full-on kind of love. She'd have had to learn to put him first in order to really love him, and she didn't quite reach that point. I think she acted as a real soldier of the Rebellion and tried to help a large amount of people instead of just one. This is how she certainly should be if she was to help the Rebellion, but unfortunately that got in the way of her relationship with Han.
I pretty much like and admire everything else about her though. I certainly like how she grew into a strong character, and of course all strong characters have faults.

My Halloween was great, We got TONS of kids at the dorms. I love it.

****

Bria is a very strong character. She knows what she wants and goes for it, that I'd admire. I personally believed she loved Han, but sadly, she loved the Rebellion more...

You were polite, so I don't see why I shouldn't be the same in return. Besides, I have friends that really don't like her, so... :)

Bria isn't perfect. That's one of the things I like about her. She's a gray character and makes mistakes. There are also things about her I don't like, but that's ok. Most people have some flaws. ;)

As for Ylesia... it wasn't nice, and it wasn't pretty, but I also understand she saw she either had to chose between helping the galaxy in trying to get rid of Palpatine, or stay true to Han and risk the rebels being decimated by whatever it was she found out about the night before the battle when she was told to take everything. It had nothing to do with a lack of love, but instead the greatest good for the greatest number. That's my opinion at least.

Anyway... I'm off to a book signing and then have dinner with Mr. Luceno. It'll be so much fun! :)

Have a good time Bria!

As for the OTHER Bria, people make mistakes and while there are aspects of the character I don't like, you have to admire her strength. Many people are forced to make the decision between love and the better good and so many times there are familiar results. Bria did what she believed was right.

Personally I would have chosen Han... but that's because I'm such a sap! :p

Lookie, lookie. About time Bria got in the Star Wars Databank. In all honestly I would've preferred that the piece of bantha sith that is the Yavin Vassilika had not been mentioned (in behind the scenes), but at least Bria has an entry.

Between reading books on the Vietnam War for English and seven novels on history for Western Civ I have no time to read anything else. *Sigh* Summer vacation can't come quick enough (of course stupid me is taking a Japensese Literature Course of the summer, do I ever learn?)

Yeah, I've got lots to read right now too. I'm on the last book of the Hittchhickers Guide series. It's good, but I can tell it won't become a new obsession (which is fine). Probably won't even buy the books, but I am enjoying them. I had to put that aside though, as a book came in at the library from another library system so I have to read that rather quickly. It's a Sandman related book and I'm really enjoying. I'll probably end up buying the book.

This summer though, I WILL reread the HST and my website will be completed!

I have so many projects I'm dying to do over the summer. Including updating all 15 of my webpages/fanlistings, joining the rest of the fanlistings on my list, recreating I Know (stupid virus!), reading all sorts of books.

Of course stupid me is taking Japense World Literature this summer (over 1,000 pages to read!) and working 40 hours a week. Not to mention three cross country trips my parents threw at me and are making me go on.

Geeze.

I need less hobbies and less of a life.
