gene hackman was great in everything, my favorite will always be the performance he delivered opposite denzel in crimson tide rest in peace to gene and his family
Glenn Ford who played Jonathan Kent *** RIP Hackman. Loved him in Royal Tenenbaums and Superman of course.
Was that the confirmed cause? I know Weird Al lost both his parents to carbon monoxide poisoning. Sucks.
I first saw Unforgiven when I was 17 or 18 and didn't think much of it at the time. I went in expecting a bang bang shoot em up western, which it obviously wasn't, much like another Gene Hackman starring westerner that came out around the same time, The Quick and the Dead (which is a ****ing awesome movie in its own right). Unforgiven wasn't so much a movie I revisited (I've still only seen it once) but it was a movie that I thought more and more about as the years went on, until I realized how much of a masterpiece it actually was. Hackman deserved the Oscar for that movie, he added a ton of humanity to what could've been a one dimensional role...that he did anyway for The Quick and the Dead. But! He elevated that movie and was usually the best part of the worst of movies He was easily the best part of Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, for example
It's being investigated as suspicious now, so I don't know if carbon monoxide poisoning was the cause of death. Sad all around, RIP to a legend.
Carbon monoxide poisoning is not because of a gas leak. Natural gas is mostly methane before it's burned and it has an added odor to prevent accidents. CO is an odorless product of combustion e.g. a gas heater, gets dangerous in spaces with poor ventilation, and New Mexico is cold in winter. I can also see older people forgetting to take precautions like checking detector batteries. Would suck if this turned out to be a double suicide or murder-suicide.
Two other "healthy" dogs were found "roaming the property." I'm far from convinced this situation wasn't some sort of accident.
Though I think a lot of us had Gene Hackman on our lists for old age and not "we're gonna find the bodies of their entire family and their dog one night."
