Beyond - Legends Dear Diary Challenge - 1/2 year - Where do I go next?

This is hard. This first week has been really tough. Lots of fitness training, and I found out I am not as fit as I thought I was. I've lost a bit of weight this week, hips aren't as round anymore, but that's a good thing I guess. I am in a class of 6 others, 4 other guys and me and this other girl. She's horrible. She struts about the room like she's all it and a bit more. She looked down at me from the moment we met. The guys all know each other, and are pretty chummy, they seem nice enough and have been nice. Even when I whooped all their butts on the first SIM round they never really said much other than 'beginners luck'. The girl, her name is Julieta, just glared at me when the teacher told me well done. I feel like she's gonna be trouble, just a gut feeling.

I love the flying, the fitness stuff is so hard and I've been getting home at night and totally crashing after dinner, exhausted. I guess I'll get fitter, eventually. At least I hope so!

Anyway, exhausted, as I said, off to sleep now.

Today was scary but the most exhilarating day of my life so far!! They put us in real ships!! They were Z95 headhunters, old by New Republic Standards but we were allowed to fly circuits!! Sure they were training ships and the control tower we able to take over if we messed up, but I didn't mess up! I thought I had, but turned out I was the only one in my class that didn't!! So exciting.

After the lesson, while in the mess hall at lunch time one of guys in my class sat with me, well opposite me. He was interested in my skills, I told him it was SIM training mostly and he kept talking to me about other stuff. Like where he was from, and how he learned, and his name is Dion. He's nice enough but due to recent circumstances I am more than cautious. Having said that, his dark hair and hazel eyes are really attractive. From a distance, so not going near a man again, the idea is a little disconcerting. Nope, I don't need the drama in my life and I know I can do anything I want without one. I am going all the way with this. I'm aim to join a squadron first and after a few years, I hope to be an elite pilot, maybe even one day lead a Squadron. That would be my dream come true.

Starting at the bottom and today was unreal.

I have been quiet for a while, exhausted more like. Training is hard slog but stang I love it. I feel like I belong, no one judges me and Dion has been my 'wing' for a few weeks now. We get on so well but turns out he is gay! Could a girl have a better friend?? I think not!! We talk about everything and he has my back, love him to bits, like a brother and sister combined, he such fun.

Today I topped the class for one on one dog fights. They pitted me against Dion and I felt bad as I targeted him, even said 'sorry' before I shot him down. It had to be done. I was relieved when he hugged me when he got out the SIM, said 'He knew I'd best him' and to hear that without hatred or bitterness was a relief and refreshing.

Our trainer said next week someone special is coming to inspect the troops and trainees, not said who but said we had all better be on our best behaviour and our uniforms in tip top shape! Wonder who that is?

I can't believe a few months ago I wanted to kill myself?! What was I thinking? I will NEVER get that low again, I know now I can tell people, I can talk to people and there are people can trust. I know that now. This whole thing has changed my life, for the better, I can't wait to see where it takes me!

I did not think things could ever get better in my life, boy was I wrong! Today Command had a special guest, someone I've read about, someone who I have admired for a long time.

Wedge Antilles!

Apparently he's bee doing a tour of the galaxy for the last few months 'looking' for pilots, ones with the potential to be the best to serve under him. I was so excited to actually meet him, bet he thought I was an idiot, I actually giggled! He was so nice about me being silly and actually talked to me for a bit as he inspected all the cadets, I could see how jealous some others were but saw the warmest smile from Dion!

Then they put us all in SIMs, against each other. With Dion on my wing we ripped them apart, till one of the Cadets I didn't know rammed me! Gods who rams someone in a SIM!?? He was another training group. Don't know who he was but he jumped out and was going on and on about he won. Dion crashed out when my ship hit his and I was so sorry but...yeah..., we lost. I was upset for us both, and Dion hugged me as he knew I did want to be what Antilles was looking for. We both really did, and we missed out on it. We were scuttled out of the dream, not sure it was Dion's but I wanted to be the best and impress my hero so much, its was painful, but we're a team and there's no I in team. I did get to show him what I could do at least, maybe one day I will get a second chance.

Other than that it was a great day, I got to meet my hero and he actually talked to me, he will forget me in a day but I will NEVER forget that I got to talk to the legendary Wedge Antilles. sigh

 

June isn't over @earlybird-obi-wan Time will tell, I have a plan.......its not great and it has massive holes, but there is a plan

 

Yeah, she has to find a new way to impress Wedge, would hunting him down in a stolen ship do it you think?

I am petrified!! Utterly Petrified!!!

I've been called to the Senior Admins office tomorrow morning at 10am. I am to be in full uniform and they have told me Nothing. I felt sick when the message came through on my data pad. Why do they want to see me? What have I done? I couldn't help it, I cried. Dion was so supportive, till he got a message, he has to be there as well. What did we do? We must have done something wrong as the last cadet that was called to the offices for a meeting was dismissed from the training course. They were demoted to ground crew! I will drop out if that happens! I don't want to be a ground crew. Dion keeps telling me we are a team and we will be fine. We are a team, but I don't believe it. I got home and told Chrissy and Cam and they told me I might be stressing over nothing.

I Don't think I am. Sick to my stomach, doubt I will sleep tonight. I've cleaned and pressed my uniform and its all ready to go. I guess I will just ride the night out now. Dion and I will face this together.

Sick.

 

When you get called into the boss' office.......it makes you sick.
