Challenge Dear Diary Challenge 2008 And the Winner is....?

I'll still have my two OC diaries going, as those talkative characters aren't done yet, but I've decied to write Beru's journal for this year's challenge. She's always been a favorite character of mine, and since we can do canon characters this year, I think I'll tackle her.

 

So, will there be categories in the voting, such as: Most Original; Drama; Humor; Romantic, etc.? Or will it just be one diary overall?

 

I think what I'm likely to do is since I have an other diary going that I have been able to get up no muse for whatsoever, is to scrap that one and start over afresh in the new year. I think I'll probably do a padawan Qui-Gon in Before the Saga, or Masterly Qui with Obi-Wan, not sure who yet, but likely a canon character as well as an OC perhaps. We'll have to see what happens My muse is raring to go for the new year though. At least she's returned, I was afraid that after NaNo, she'd never come back

I would assume that more than one person can write a canon character? Don't know.

But, I want to do teenage Leia.

I've never written her before but she's the one biting at me idea wise....

I had thought about doing more than one diary, but then I wouldn't have time to write anything else. I thought it would be funny to have a log of the Millenium Falcon kept by Chewie. The entire thing would be in Shyriiwook.

Oh that sounds awesome! You could do the Basic translations next to it or have a little subtitle thing going on, because regular port authorities probably would prefer to be able to read a Captain's log if they desired

Quick grammar question for the diary.

This isn't writing, just grammar....

Suppose you have one person speaking three paragraphs. Then a second person says something. Then the first person says another paragraph. The punctuation goes like this?


"Blah, blah, blah.

"Blah-de-dah, blah, blah.

"Blah, blah, blah-de-dah."

"Bloop-dee-doo, bloo-doo."

"Blad-da-dah, blah, blah."


I'm pretty sure that the second, closing quote doesn't come until it's the last thing the person says, before another person speaks, or another paragraph of description happens. But new paragraphs have to start with an opening quote regardless of who was speaking the previous paragraph?

BTW - since it's in the second half of that post, you might want to use the browser's search feature for "too long to be one paragraph".

Although I failed miserably last time - I'm wanting to try my hand at this again. I have a couple of OCs who are clamoring to be heard and I cannot possibly deny them any longer.
