I did so well last year until NaNo hit and then wham, all my inspiration went toward Nano and left none left for the diary. I still need to update and finish.

I would like to actually complete one of these finally.

 

No, you post the story on whichever era board (Before the Saga, The Saga, or Beyond the Saga). You PM the sock to let it know when you update. And welcome to the JC

 

Same here. Nano sucked all the writing out of me.
I have a plan this year, though.

I'll write ahead come January, so I'll have enough to post when Nano starts.
I just hope this plan works.

 

For Nano is it possible to have really short entries to get you through the month? I'm sure that one paragraph diary entries are discouraged, but might be forgiven for Nano.

 

Of course you can have shorter entries in NaNo. Long entries are nicer, but if you don't manage to write up in advance short entries are better than being disqualified.

 

You can have really short entries at any time during the year, acually. As long as there is an entry.

Though I would discourage one-word entries.

Edit: Here's the rule that covers that:
"3)
The length of the updates does not matter. Write a paragraph, write pages, do what you want. Just do it."

 

I think I might try this. I've found out I have trouble writing first person, so this would be great practice. Also to keep writing no matter what. I need that from time to time

And I actually have a story idea running through my brain for some time now that I think would fit very well into a diary type story.

Oh my, that's a *great* idea! I'm hoping it will get written.

Dear Diary starts on January 1st. So you can start posting starting January.

 

I'd like to join. I don't know how I missed this thread for so long.

Anyway, please don't get so caught up in the new challenge that you forget to vote the winner of last year. Voting starts on the 1st of January, also.

 

Sign up for the challenge ends January 15. However, if you join at the last minute, don't forget to make at least two posts in your character's diary!

 

I tanked royally this year but being the sucker for punishment I am I'm going to give it another shot.

The one thing I'll be doing differently is an outline. Hopefully, that will keep me on track and get me to the finish line.

 

Count me in for this one as well. I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep it going but I'd like to try it again.

I thinking of doing something like Diary of an Ewok, Diary of a Jawa, or something like that. Of course that would be the name of it.

I have a queston: Can you have and Mantain two Diaries/Journals and still be in the Challenge? Will both be a part of it?

 

I believe so. I think earlybird-obi-wan had two in last year.

Actually, earlybird had three, while I had 4 and a half. As long as you update at least twice a month in each diary, that's fine.

 

Hmm... I'm not completely sure if I can finish a year-long challenge, but I'll give it a shot. I'm in!

You have to post the first update by the 15th, pm the sock about it. Also, you can link up the first, FIRST!, entry of the diary in this thread.

 

The writing can start in less than a day!

I hadn't thought about doing this challenge, but I have a plot bunny that may work well in a diary format. I think I'll give it a try.
