Day to Day Adventures

 

I am clearly slacking. I already wrote 9 entries, I just don't know if I like them. I think I'll write a few different journals since I hate everything I do lately. Maybe I will like one of them enough to finish it.

I posted 2 of mine. I'm going to hate myself tomorrow at work for not getting any sleep! I have one more but I just started it so I don't want to post it just yet. I'm having some trouble with linking for some reason. Is there something special about it I'm missing?

Oh, this sounds really, really fun. I'm seriously thinking about doing this.

Actually, I'm finding it VERY freeing. There's no pressure to have a 'story' or a great lengthy swath of beta's text. It's a journal entry, one person's observations, and therefore everything is subjective. I'm not going to worry about grammatical errors as much, or the odd misspelling, nor am I going to go back and 'correct' something if it sounds awkward - if that's how the character wrote it, then that's how she wrote it!

Of course I'll be mindful of my own in universe 'canon' and timelines, but I'm also finding that for one so young, she has some very interesting insights and perceptions as to what's really important when your 'Pay-Pa' is one of the most famous people in the Galaxy!

 

This plot bunny came to me, so I had to go with it.

Well, I've just been hit with an idea, so I guess I'll give this a go. Now I just have to write it down.

 

Oooooh, writing it down is always the hard part.

DarthBreezy, I agree that the Diary format is very freeing. You don't have to worry about wrapping up the plot and good finishing lines or story structure. And you can take all those bunnies that don't have stories and put them in the diary, too.

 

I'm pretty much a lurker, but this challenge sounds interesting enough to de-lurk. I'm not exactly sure how I'm supposed to take part in it, though. Who am I supposed to contact?

 

Well, writing the first entry, wasn't so hard. Let's just see how it goes from now on.

And the linking of the first post ehre is not obligatory. When i started people just tended to post links to their updates in the thread. (Which is not what it's there for). So as a kind of compromise I allowed to link the first post here.

I completely agree, Breezy! People don't have their own personal journals beta'ed so I personally think it would almost be more of a determent to have it prefect. That doesn't mean I'm not going to reread it or fix somethings but if my 13 year old has a few run on sentences then so be it!

I think the problem I got into last year was that put the kind of pressure on myself that I do for a normal story. I also picked things that were hard for me to write (not to mention school got in the way) and this is a lot of material to have to write, especially if you can't just sit down and write whatever comes to mind. I definitly learned my lesson!

 

I have also found that when you are 8 years old, sex and farts are funny no matter what galaxy you're from...
