Entry 20

Tales about Tatooine natives continued the next day and the day after that.

We could rest in a real bed during the second night. A moisture farmer had offered us hospitality and had told more about Tatooine. I found a part of a very big bone in the courtyard.

‘This Krayt dragon bone is very old and was found by me when I started working to clear a place for a new vaporator’ was what the farmer told me and had shown me a real book with pictures of the native animals, one of them the feared Krayt dragon.

I put the diary on record when I saw a white piece of stone that was too regular to be of natural origin.

“It’s too big to be a bantha bone. It must be from a Krayt dragon. Ah dragons. I will tell you about the darrin. We have to go and find if possible a cave for the night.”

“I am glad we found this cave. And no Jesin, it isn’t a Krayt dragon’s lair.”

“I would have liked to meet the creatures.”

“Jesin, Krayt dragons are big, grab you with their claws and teeth and grind you to little pieces.”

“And the young ones? Can you train a Krayt dragon to be your ride? You have told me of the winged Darrin of Moniron from long ago. That was a ride for warriors.”

“Krayt dragons are wild and untrainable. Get our bedding spread out. I will stir up some dinner for two. And I will tell you more about the krayt dragon after the meal.”

Entry 21

Arriving at a forbidding fortress I put the diary again on record.

“Do I have to assume a new identity?”

“Not necessary. Jabba the Hutt is not interested in the fact that I have a new assistant. He just wants that precious metal ore what is loaded on the eopies.”

“But he is your boss.”

“Yeah sort of but I own the YT-1300 light freighter that’s now in need of repairs. You don’t have to worry about Jabba at all.”

“Halfir Majeski and Jesin Fialka are here to see Jabba the Hutt.”

“I have to get a new identity.”

“Don’t let this be misunderstood. I am Halfir Majeski and this is Jesin Fialka. He is my new assistant.”

“I have a very bad feeling.”

“Jesin do what I told you. Get in and don’t worry. We will leave this palace the way we have come.”

“Sure boss.”

“You will lead us immediately to Jabba.”

“I will lead you immediately to Jabba.”

“Why did you have to confuse him?”

“I had to because the Gamorrean was interested in our supplies. We need those on the way back to Mos Eisley.”

“And that puts me at ease.”

“Halfir Majeski and his assistant Jesin Fialka are here to see Jabba. But there…”

“Don’t deny them entrance. I will lead them to Jabba. They have the merchandise for my master. Don’t come near their property or you will suffer the consequences.”

“I have to admit that the Twi’lek was very rude to the Gamorrean but we gained entrance to Jabba.”

Halfir got his credits and I told Jabba how I had become Halfir’s assistant. And I remarked that I had cared for babies and toddlers. Now we have to report to Sluur the Hutt when we are back in Mos Eisley. We are now hutt-sitters for a forty eight and a hundred and two years old Hutt.

Entry 21

We are now Hutt-sitters for Moio and Slura.

Formally Jabba the Hutt is Halfir’s boss but he can only get back to do jobs for him after the Kerebuy Hawk is repaired. With Jabba having a favour to give to Sluur he has pointed us to the Hutt.

Huttlet Moio has just turned fifty and had forever left the brood pouch of his father two weeks ago. He is the second child from Sluur. The Hutt likes him to be educated in the same way as his daughter Slura.

Sluur is a nice and honest boss to work for.

Tonia’s brother Tom has a new job as a pilot for the luxurious yacht of Milindus Migilian. The Migilian pod-racing stable is famous. Milindus owns also a large factory for medical supplies on Chandrila and is friends with Mon Mothma. With podraces tolerated on Tatooine Tonia is sure that she will meet her brother now more often. He is ten years older and had left Tatooine to study on Chandrila when Tonia was eight.


Entry 22

We are going to Chalmun’s cantina.

“Hey that is Asssha…”

“Adash Jesin!”

“What’s wrong?”

“Hey Tonia, I had to put up my shields when I recognised a former friend. I will tell you more about my friend A’Shar...”

“You better not and let’s go away. We can get in trouble. There is something dark about your friend.”

“What was the darkness you sensed?”

“That user of the Force must have had a taste of the dark side…”

“I cannot believe that. The man was A’Sharad Hett. He was a Jedi knight and a Tusken. I was five and he taught me all about the Tusken. During the wars he had for a short time Anakin Skywalker under his guidance. He came back without his Tusken mask. I liked his tattoos.”

“I liked them too and heard this morning that he had been dressed as a Tusken when he came to the first aid. He collapsed when the receptionist guided him to a treatment room. Kyrin and Brene – prepping him for surgery – had to cut away all his clothes. He had lost his right arm and was fitted with a prosthetic. Rodney told me that he had never seen a wound cauterized more perfectly when he was instructing me during the surgery.”

“A lightsaber does that. A’Sharad Hett must have been in a fight with a dark force.”

“No Jesin. Your friend A’Sharad Hett was tainted by the dark.”

“You could sense all that?”

“I am glad he didn’t follow us. I sensed the dark and Jesin I didn’t believe it too. I have heard only good tales about A’Sharad Hett and his father from the Es Hara Tusken.”

“But the reports about recent raids indicated that the Tusken were banding together under a strong and merciless leader and becoming more bold in their attacks on moisture farmers. A report on an attack near Anchorhead was the last. Could it have been that A’Sharad Hett became a leader of the Tusken? Did another unknown Jedi refugee or maybe Kenobi fight with him to stop the raids? Hett had an exposed face when he came to the hospital. Kyrin didn’t mention a mask among the discarded clothes. Tusken raiders are known to expel the member of their tribe who shows skin. And yes the vicious raids have stopped since … oh my … Rodney didn’t inform the police. But no. The man told Rodney that he had been in an accident with a welding tool and there was no reason to believe otherwise.”

“Be glad that he didn’t alert the police. A’Sharad Hett in trouble could have alerted the imps.”

“He recognised me and returned to Chalmun’s. He was not interested in you or you. I think he will leave Tatooine. He was with Sai’Balor one of the well known bounty hunters.”

“I am sure. I have heard of Sai’Balor. He works for a rival of Jabba and is stationed on Nar Shaddaa.”

“And with A’Sharad Hett going with Sai’Balor I think we have seen the last of him here on Tatooine. The Tusken don’t want him anymore. His face is known and he has been disgraced. And now I wonder. Did he cause Anakin to turn and become Darth Vader?”

“Not likely. From what you have told me about Anakin I am more inclined to believe that Anakin was under the influence of Palpatine from the first day they met. A young child can be corrupted with less trouble than a teenager who has had a few years of teaching from a master. He was different and was nine when he came under the tutelage of Obi-Wan.”

“Uh yes, Anakin was a pain in the posterior for his master with all his escaping the temple adventures. And after Kamino he was even more seen going elsewhere.”

Much has happened since I last was able to read this diary. It seems that you write an update each time I turn around. You are quicker than a Weeping Angel in attack modus.

I like the way you tie your OCs with the canon characters and the legend characters. That makes your vivid story telling even richer.

Entry 23

Something nice happened. For Dunai elder yes. We had movie time in the university auditorium and were coming there when the Galactic Empire News came with the declaration from Darth Vader that Moniron has been erased from star charts. It is still there but more difficult to find. We will have to do research in very old archives when we decide to travel to Moniron.

Darth Vader must have a reason to do that.

Grady Rydell – watching an old series about a doctor solving cases – said that the last Jedi-healer was exterminated on Moniron.

I began to smile. He must have escaped leading to vicious dreams for Darth Vader. Halfir has told me about tales to frighten little kids on Moniron.

And Halfir was smiling too when he said ‘Maybe Vader was dreaming about a whole planet full of screaming, hideous, tearing you to pieces winged darrin. And having no weapon to exterminate a whole planet he just decided to erase it from the star charts. But we will find Moniron.’

I began to watch the old series and got quite interested. Grady offered to teach me.


Entry 24

I will set the diary on record when we are in Anchorhead.

“And there is our destination for a much needed part to repair our freighter.”

“Maybe Revan found HK-47 in that building.”

“Maybe Jesin but that was 3,943 years ago and buildings don’t last that long.”

“It is in the place described by Revan.”

“WOW Luke. Didn’t you see that dumbwit?”

“I did and...”

“Now you lost your birthday present. It’s there under dumbo’s speeder.”

“I will get it back.”

“You can?”

“Wait for them to go away. Maybe they are angry.”

“I will see.”

“Ah farmboy will see. I won’t. Come boys. I don’t want to get into trouble over a toy.”

“Oh my we have to hurry back. Teacher Bunjik is waiting for us.”

“I am sorry…”

“No harm done. I was playing with my friends. Can I get my ball back? It was a birthday present. I turned six you know.”

“Sure you can. There you go.”

“Thank you mister. See you.”

“That was Luke. That was the boy who was with master Kenobi six years ago.”

“He was and sure is leading a nice life with his friends. Get in and we don’t have all day you know. We have to get the wires and circuits and if possible a present for Tonia.”

“She is busy with her exams and tomorrow if all is going as planned she will be a doctor and receive her licence.”

Entry 25

I didn’t see my diary for a long time.

Tonia is now living in her new home in Mos Espa. She has a boyfriend working as a mechanic in the hangar of the arena. And she is the lead doctor in the medical facility of the pod racing arena of Mos Espa. Zinno the Hutt owns the place that is visited by many patients who cannot afford the luxuries of the private clinics.

Today she came with the part to enhance the Novaldex shields. It was brought to her office by a Jawa. She told me that the Jawa’s traded it in a deal with the wizard of the Jundland wastes. We have never seen the wizard but Tonia did.

Tonia told us that she had met him two years ago when she was treating rebel Dirky Omal. The wizard could convince two stormtroopers that the rebel she was treating for a small injury was dead. The troopers left and Dirky could join his friends. Before treating Dirky she had to treat Sheryl Vienar, an injured pod-racer and met Milindus Migilian, the owner of a large pod-racing stable and the boss of her brother.

Hutt-sitting is still our major job but we can now go on a freight hauling job for Sluur the Hutt. The Kerebuy Hawk is ready to fly. Messy will be delighted. I have a locker in the crew-quarters where I will store important stuff.


Entry 26

WOW

We are on Naboo and I saw Darth Vader today.

The Kerebuy Hawk is in one of the hangars of Theed. And we went to the warehouse of Gayle Pendarvis, a Naboo woman who had followed in her father’s footsteps to become a merchant.

Gayle introduced us to her associate and pilot Alysa Azoffi, a human originating on Hamalk who owns the Hamalk queen. The queen is a submersible – quite useful for Naboo’s vast subterranean oceans – with ion-engines and with a hyperdrive engine for trips to nearby planets. She is also used for the in-system transports. The two women support the rebel cells on Naboo. In dealing with Sluur – and through him with Zinno – she can help the rebels. Gayle advised us to do some sightseeing before unloading the merchandise. She and Alysa will come to the hangar.

We admired the beautiful buildings of Theed and have been to the site where Senator Padmé Amidala is buried. And there we saw Darth Vader. I could raise my shields immediately and like Halfir I felt the hidden light deep down in that tortured soul.

I said in the secure cabin of the Kerebuy Hawk ‘Anakin and Padmé were more than friends.’ Halfir replied ‘and that Jesin will one day lead to his redemption. Remember what I taught you about Dagnir. The hidden light was revealed when he helped his enemy. Dagnir – hope in basic – united the Moniron people.’

I have to stop. Gayle and Alysa are here to help us with the merchandise.

Entry 27

Messy is now alone in the hangar, watching the Kerebuy Hawk.

And no arguing could convince Halfir that I didn’t have to go to a hospital. Yeah a crate started to slide. I pushed Alysa out of the way and hurt my right wrist. Gayle put my arm in a sling made out of her scarf.

We went to the Theed hospital and didn’t like it at all. The receptionist – Julie Scavuzzo – is an imp. And Halfir suspected something because he could complete the registration forms stating that we are humans from Corellia. I am now Jes Noman and the son of Han. Halfir could influence the woman. No ID’s were required. I have to stop.

We had to go to the lab but we never arrived there. I put the diary on record.

“… is coming. Get the Force sensitive patient transported tomorrow lieutenant Setima.”

“I will test him and I will see you on the Exactor.”

“Lord Vader, your presence is required.”

“Yes admiral I will come immediately.”

“Vader.”

“Hey! I recognise…”

“Shh Jesin. We will wait and see.”

“Greg, halt here with Kel.”

“Yes Steven. We cannot follow in the den of the witch Setima.”

“No guys, you aren’t taking me to a witch to treat a broken leg.”

“Do you know it’s her den?”

“We only met her and she is creepy.”

“Steven, Greg, we had to avoid the storm and divert to Theed imperial hospital.”

“Imp owned captain Fiohir. I know we had no choice with that sithly weather closing down the Lake Country hospital landing pad.”

“Shh not that loud, we don’t want to alert imps. Kel will be safe. He has only that broken leg to be treated. Five days in a bacta-cast and the leg will be as good as new.”

“I know Greg. I don’t worry about my leg but what worries me is the ‘imp’ written all over this place. And for a moment I felt something bad.”

“Kel if things get sithly we will try to get you out. We had to take that medevac to Theed and to this hospital equipped with a landing-pad. And we had no choice at all with imp owned air-control directing us here.”

“Theed is infested with imps.”

I put the record on pauze and continued when the doctor said.

“We will take over Captain and your patient is…”

“Tuohy doc. Kel Tuohy and I want to leave as soon as possible. I have a large property you know. I am a great supporter of the empire. Senator and now glorious emperor Palpatine has visited me often in the past. I have my shaaks to attend and my guarlara is waiting. I am sure I can ride her even with a leg in a cast. Just give me a bacta-cast.”

“That’s for the orthopedic specialist to decide. I am Ine Setima and was waiting for a patient but now you are my priority. I will help her.”

“I will guide you to our ER.”

“No needles please.”

“Needles are sometimes necessary. We will wait for you Kel until the docs give us a stat. Ah there is the caf and a place to sit down.”

“No needles. Halfir we have to do something. Those docs are…”

“Shh Jesin I am concentrating.”

When I heard that the doctors wanted a blood-sample I had to take action. And I had the means to do because I had recognised the twin paramedics. They are Steven and Greg Budianski. I had met them in the Jedi-temple. They were – with their chief Joe Calistro – visiting Ivano Arvedai. And that patient was the firefighter who was not given a ‘thank you’ from padawan Setiquiyak. I have to stop and explain all to their captain. I will continue in the next entry.

Entry 28

I am now fitted with a vac-splint by the paramedics and in a guestroom in the Pendarvis home. I will tell about our escape from the hospital.

When I came with the paramedics to Halfir he told me more about the devious doctor Ine Setima. She wanted to use Kel Tuohy and me for biological tests. All previous tests killed the patients. Tomorrow she will depart to Byss with Darth Vader.

Captain Kevin Fiohir and his paramedics could get Kel out of the clutches of the doctors and into the medevac. But bad weather in Lake Country had them needing a temporary refuge being the Pendarvis home.

Halfir could convince the Sith-doctor that I was fitted exelently with the modern vac-splint and that we would return tomorrow.

We arrived at the Pendarvis home after some detours. Pilot Cathy Swidler was hauling two stretchers out of the medevac. She was glad that Halfir could help her getting them to the large kitchen. The kitchen had become the residence of the paramedics who had to care for Kel Tuohy after fitting his leg with the bactacast.

The Budianski twins told us about their departure from Coruscant and the joining of the Lake District fire department. They had been devastated when they heard about the order to exterminate the Jedi and had formed a rebel cell. Captain Kevin Fiohir had helped them. He – as a Force sensitive Varankonin – had to keep out of the clutches of the empire.

Alysa came to the kitchen. She had been transporting the merchandise from Tatooine to one of Gayle’s rebel friends.

I gave the scarf back to Alysa and followed her when she took me on a tour of the Pendarvis home. The home has computer controlled devices and a large underground hangar where the Hamalk queen has her berth.

Alysa took me inside the submersible for a tour. The transponder codes and the maps with the great subterranean oceans and where she can guide the Hamalk queen into the atmosphere and beyond are very interesting. Gayle and Alysa can escape from Naboo unnoticed using one of the codes. And the submersible can take any exit through one of the oceans. Now I am ordered to get some sleep. But will I with this icky splint?

 

Great strategy to help in the escape; nice to have the Pendarvis home available and transponder codes and a unique ocean-going vessel.

 

Oh, Phantom Menace love. Naboo was one of may favorite locations in the prequels. The cities under water were very nice visually as well. I like picturing this in my mind early. Well Done.

Entry 29

No sleep at all and when I was in the fresher doing my business I saw Ine Setima. She was leading an ambulance and a squad of stormtroopers and headed to the Pendarvis home at a slow pace. They didn’t want to disturb the sleeping inhabitants that much. Why?

Steven Budianski and Captain Fiohir discovered the tracker, injected in Kel’s arm. The rebels had to leave Naboo.

Steven removed the tracker and gave it to Cathy. She put it in the medevac and had the imps on a wild tracker hunt.

This was fun to record and to include it in the diary.

“M six dash four five regular.”

“Master.”

“Execute purge order Tatooine 24. Execute order six six seven immediately code one zero dash six zero zero.”

“Purge Tatooine 24 executed. Six zero zero countdown can start, waiting for irrevocable command.”

“Zero, zero, destruct zero.”

“600, 599, 598…”

“Our business with Gayle is gone from the books. How do we slow down Setima?”

“587, 586, 585, 584…”

“She is dressed in greens. We can show her your wrist and have her arguing with you.”

We had again fun with a Sith doctor stalling her and her cronies.

Captain Fiohir, his paramedics and pilot left with Gayle and Alysa in the Hamalk Queen. They are going to Hamalk.

The medevac was on an automated course to Lake Country and the imps followed it.

We saw a big black cloud belching skywards from the place where the Pendarvis home had been. We waited for two hours before getting departure clearance from the Naboo authorities for the Kerebuy Hawk bound for Tatooine. Getting a clear on the freight-list gave no trouble at all. Purge order Tatooine 24 had erased all evidence of dealing with Gayle Pendarvis and had replaced the records at the port authority bureau with a transit list. Business was as usual.

And I had to do with the vac-splint after visiting doctor Callis. He confirmed the diagnosis of Greg Budianski. The wrist had a clean break of the ulna. The vac-splint had to stay because the bone was aligned perfectly to heal without trouble. Tonia invited us to come to the pod-races.

 

Great diversionary strategies!

 

Living in fear of the Empire needed plans like this. Very cool story.

Entry 30

Pod-racing was fun to see but to participate?

No it is a bit too wild for me.

I have seen Milindus Migilian and his pod-racing champion Sheryl Vienar every time. I admire Sheryl and the other racers for their courage. Anakin’s independent and even rebellious nature makes now more sense for me. Pod-racing had been Anakin’s thing to get away from slavery. ‘Anakin won’t be a slave to Sidious forever. He will be free.’

I saw Sheryl yesterday. She is expecting her brother Boyd to arrive with his friend Luciano. She showed me holopics of the two. I recognised Luciano. He had been one of the firefighters serving during the Clone wars in the Jeditemple firehouse.


Entry 31

Yesterday Sheryl had been very disappointed when she came back from her race. She was fifth overall and the first woman to finish.

Today I have helped her to load the racing-pod in the Migilian transport. The compartments in the pod-engines are filled with medical supplies from Zinno the Hutt. The supplies are for a rebel-cell on Alderaan, the first destiny after the great race on Tatooine.

And I was looking for Tonia when Zinno the Hutt pointed us to the examination rooms.

This is what I recorded for the diary when I recognised Obi-Wan Kenobi.

“Been into trouble again Ben? Why is it always your left arm? It is set by an expert and will heal with no trouble.”

“Ben? Tonia told us that she has met a Ben who is known as the wizard of the Jundland waste. Obi-Wan must have taken a new name.”

“He is hiding here and protecting someone.”

“Brr why are all doctors the same. Prodding at you with cold hands. Putting sticky bandaids on your body.”

“That’s so Obi-Wan. He still doesn’t like healers.”

“Good afternoon Tonia. Do you need help with that old man?”

“And Sheryl Vienar is there too.”

“No Sheryl, Ben is always complaining about my ministrations.”

“I am not old. Sheryl, you must be Boyd Vienars sister.”

“Yes do you know him and have you seen him?”

“I have seen him and Alwin, Luciano and he have helped me when I crashed my speeder. He is waiting just outside this room.”

“Boyd, nice to meet you. You have missed the races but I don’t care.To see you alive and well is more important for me.”

“I will never leave you again. I want to join your company.”

“Milindus will like that and we can use a medic and detective like you for our activities for the rebels. We are going back to Alderaan because I have to deliver supplies for my boss to the palace of Bail Organa.”

“Will you tell Bail Organa his friend Ben sends him his greetings?”

“Sure goodbye.”

“Goodbye.”

Luciano Robi must have returned to his home on Alderaan. His parents are Alladea natives. There was an initiate Alwin Karao who left with retiring Jedi spy Magin Bhik to go to the Alladea agristation. Luciano must have taken Alwin under his protection after the purge.

I have to stop. One exam tomorrow and I have my grade.
